Hi all

I discovered the recipe for Dole Whip in the recipe index and I want to make it. I've never had it (don't banish me!!!) but I've heard that it's awesome!

My question is, how is it served? Does it go on something as a topping? Or do you serve as is?

Thanks!

It's sooo good! Don't feel bad - I only had my first one last summer after being scolded around here for never having had one. :)

Just eat it kind of like ice cream in a bowl! Let us know how it turns out, I've never tried making it on my own.

The recipe will make a close facsimile of a dole whip. If you want the real thing it can be ordered here I have ordered it along with the Cuisinart soft serve machine and I can attest that it is the real deal.

Ill probaly be hung for saying this but you dont have to make it, all the Dolewhip is is Pineapple sherbert, just go to the store and by some.

Actually it is not. Sherbet in America can contain 1%-2% milk fat or eggs where as dole whip is non dairy. By definition it would be closer to a sorbet but due to the soft serve nature of the product it has a considerably smoother texture. Also due to different recipes the chances of you getting an exact match from a store bought sherbet or sorbet is slim to none, believe me I have tried.

Good point but the odds of making the soft serve at home are slim to none. I worked at an Icecream store for a while, and they told me that soft serve is what keeps them alive. There is just no way to mass produce it or make it home.

The odds of you making soft serve at home are 100% if you have the Cuisinart soft serve machine. You can get it all day long for $100. I have this machine and ordered the exact same mix used by Disney and viola real dole whips at home.

I could actually purchase Dole Whip at the snack bar of a hospital I worked in years ago. They had all sorts of different flavors every day, so I was somewhat familliar with it before I had it at WDW. It is pretty awesome just the same. Our favorite is the pineapple -- terrific on a hot Florida afternoon! :sohappy:

Oh ok. Thanks for clarifying...but I still want that

I'm assuming from your avatar that you stay at the Polynesian sometimes? I discovered while there last time that they have a self serve Dole Whip machine in Captain Cooks! So it makes it easy to get one. I don't know if it's as good as the ones in the park, but it's the one that I tried. :)

It is identical to the one in the parks save for no pineapple juice in which to make a dole float.
