Doing the WDW 10K and then a cruise on the same day?

My wife and I are thinking about doing the 10K next year, which looks like it should be on a Friday. We're thinking that we then could go on the Dream for a 3 night Bahamas cruise. We're not huge runners but anticipate being able to finish the 10K in around an hour and a half. Any reason we wouldn't be able to make the cruise that anyone can think of?
Thanks!

I think the earliest boarding time is 11ish. So you'd need time to finish the 10K, head back to your hotel room and shower/check out before going to port (45ish minute drive?). The race starts at 5:30 so depending on how they do corralling it seems like you'd be finished by 8 at the latest.

I think you could do it...it would just be a really long, hectic morning. With the Disney races you'll have a 3AM wake-up call to make it to the starting area on time. Just keep that in mind. :)

I was thinking about that, but we'd be leaving the kids at home, so the cruise would just be my wife and I. I think laying around for 3 days might just be what the doctor ordered after getting up early and running.:D

I don't know what the timing is for the cruise, but I've had to catch a plane an hour away that left 6 hours after gun time for a marathon....

(Running through the airport to catch the flight sucked)

It is most likely doable, but depends on your pacing and corral placement, and if you have your own car or are using WDW/DCL transportation.

If the first boarding at DCL is 11, then you should be fine. The drive over is an hour, not much more if traffic is heavy. There were only 5 corrals this year with about 10 minutes between starts. Even if you started in one of the last ones, then you should be finished before 8am.

I think busses started around 3:30 for a 5:30 race start.

what is more important is 'last boarding' not first :)

getting through the cruise terminal is so quick... and the race starts so early... I can't see how it would be a problem. Even if you aren't done till 10am in WDW... you'd still have lots of time to get to PC and board if you park at the terminal.
