Doing Something Different?

Hi guys I am going to WDW in a couple of days and of course I am excited. Being to Disney multiple times and being 17, my brother 13, I want to make this trip as special and exciting as we can. I don't want this to be a normal blah trip like we have done in the past. I just graduated from high school so this is a big trip for us. Now I know this has been asked multiple times and I know I am asking it again but what is different to do in WDW that you don’t always do when you go down?
Thanks in advance!

EDIT: If you guys don’t know what I am talking about last trip we went around the world in EPCOT and ate one authentic candy from each land. We had a blast and where totally sick afterwards! I am looking for something like this but different.

Firstly, Congratulations on your graduation!!! There is always something new to experience at Disney. Not knowing what your past experiences were, I would say, the sky's the limit!! Try some new tours, experiences (like the Segway Tour in Epcot, Dolphins Depth, etc) Try new restaurants, ride some terrific rides during EMHs, the list goes on and on. Your best bet is to check the boards here on WDWMAGIC, and read about other poster's experiences. You may come across a totally new adventure!!! Have a wonderful vacation and Congrats again!

Hmm..without knowing you more personally, this is tough. However, one goal of mine is to eat in every hotel at some point. There are some wonderful restaurants in the hotels that rarely get experienced by anyone other than those staying there. It can definitely be a trek, but if you plan it out correctly (i.e., eat at the AKL on the same day you go to AK) then I don't think it would be too bad.

The other thing I personally love to do but it doesn't always make the cut is roasting marshmallows and watching the outdoor movie at Fort Wilderness with Chip and Dale. It's sort of a hidden gem.

Last but not least, my family makes a big deal about how many different modes of transportation we used at Disney world. We always try to use a different mode if possible. For example, instead of taking the monorail to Magic Kingdom from Epcot, we got off at the TTC and rode the ferry. We also ride the boat a lot to Wilderness Lodge. We ride the boat between Epcot and Hollywood studios instead of the bus. We have yet to take (but its o my wishlist) the raft from Port Orleans to DTD. I think you get the point, but maybe see how many different modes of transportation you can do!!

we go a lot so we always look for different things to do as well. we've done food/pub crawls including while playing kim possible, eating at different restaurants particularly like chef's tables and the resort venues. when my kids were in middle school we ate all our meals in reverse...dessert, entree, app. last year we had an all adult trip with a top ten list (but part of it included drinking) but things like singing out loud on pirates, dancing with a disney prince/princess, riding a ride x # of times or being on the last run of the night, monorail pub crawl. we've also done things like the sea racers, fireworks cruise, mini golf, and hidden mickey scavenger hunt. haven't done any of the tours but they could be fun. a friend recently did the scuba dive in the tanks at epcot but she's dive certified, but the have a snorkeling option.

First thank you all for the congratulations! I do very well appreciate it. I would also like to thank all of you for the suggestions you have mentioned. I will definitely look into them and try to post a trip report on anything we do. I just have an issue on that I am the total opposite of my parents and brother. They like to relax while I like to go and go nonstop. I am just glad we are going and hopefully when we get their I can get them to do some fun stuff they have never done before. Everyone knows Disney isn’t just for kids and I have to prove it to them! Thanks again for the replies!

I take as many pic's with the princesses as I can. If you don't wanna do that ( who wouldn't though! ) maybe try to find the hidden mickeys in the parks. Or try an find that one small thing in the park yourself that you could share with everyone else later that you found new and awesome yourself.

I'm not sure on your budget (or, really even if they still do this stuff), but I might suggest the NASCAR, parasailing or fishing excursions Disney offers. They are pricey, but as a once-in-a-lifetime type of addition, I think it could work for you two.

Our next Trip we are going to be looking for Hidden Mickey's we bought a book that has clues and lists so you can keep track and keep looking trip after trip. We are also going to look for Survey Markers (also called benchmarks) there are thousands all over the theme parks and resorts, they are round metal disks on the ground or on curbs and such, do a google search and there are a bunch of websites with lists of ones people have found, some also include pictures.

On this last trip we did something we've never done before (and that's saying a lot when you consider how often we go). We booked reservations for the fireworks dessert party at the Magic Kingdom. It was our "something different" and boy are we glad we did it. What a great experience! I highly recommend it if you've never done it and are looking for something out of your ordinary agenda. :)

I had the same idea! I got a book about finding Hidden Mickeys as a stocking filler at Christmas for my 17 yr old daughter. I figured it would be something new for her to do: )

I am thinking of buying a hidden Mickey book and doing that for real. I am going to look into the survey markers may be a good thing to do!

First thanks for the congrats! Also good luck on your graduation next year! I am going next week actually leaving Monday! I like your idea of eating tradition food in every country. I want to do the chocolate or desert thing again. Maybe this time try something I would never eat and see how it is! Have fun in August!

I tried booking a fireworks dessert party and couldn't. Who knew that would be booked already! I also tried to get into Chef Mickey's but sadly couldn't due to timing reasons and reservation abilites. Such a shame I couldn't get in. :(!

Maybe you can go resort hopping on your own. Seeing the different places and maybe even pool hopping. You also can try the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game in MK. Also Agent P's World Showcase Adventure is now in testing.
