Now I'll be the first guy to ever so politely tell you how much I despise Space Mountain layovers. I think they're cheezy and cheap and do nothing more than add 10 new projections and a on-board soundtrack.

HOWEVER - Seeing that I also love HMH for its quality and brilliant soundtrack, I think Space Mountain could potentially benefit from a Halloween layover that goes back to the drawing board.

I think it'd be beneficial for Ghost Galaxy if they were to add physical props inside the dome if possible. Asteroids, space monsters, etc. A unique and thrilling soundtrack with the quality of Mystic Manor or HMH or Hans Zimmer / Ramin Djawadi / John Williams / Michael Giacchino movies - whatever, just something way more memorable than what they have now. The projections could use some work. Maybe there should actually be a story to this too. So in short, i'd appreciate a new Ghost Galaxy layover if they did the following:

1. New, memorable soundtrack
2. Better projections
3. Physical props where they can fit
4. A storyline more robust than some fire spirit dude trying to grab your car

What're your thoughts?

EDIT: I'm speaking strictly about GG. I think Space Mountain is nearly perfect the way it is.

Hey, here's a revolutionary idea: Instead of ruining an already mega-popular ride for Halloween, why not give an imaginative, scary overlay to an attraction that NEEDS it? Helloooooo Star Wars Launch Bay Invasion and Five Nights At Pooh's!

I just wish they would use those projectors during regular Space Mountain. It should look more like the Hong Kong version or the original 50th upgrade version with asteroids and other stuff flying around. Light up that damn asteroid in the center!

Those projections look great. I love our version the way it is, but if they're going to do a halloween layover - this is exactly the sort of thing i'd want.

DL's Space Mountain in its normal mode is a near-perfect ride; one of the most enjoyable and well-loved coasters on the planet. Why Disney thinks it's necessary to junk it up for Halloween is beyond me.

AGREED. I strongly dislike HSM and GG, but I do feel like there is some potential for GG to be good - it just needs more than a half-mass soundtrack and ghost.

I actually really enjoy Ghost Galaxy’s current storyline and aesthetic, it just needs some minor changes. However, adding an alien like the one from Alien Encounter or the Xenomorph could be very interesting if they ever choose to go down that path.

A good idea for space mountain halloween is make the monster the alien from alien encounter instead of a ghost.
100x better just by doing that.
And also make it creepier by only having some ambiance and no soundtrack at all.

I never got to experience Alien Encounter but the pics look terrifying.

You heard it here first.....

2019 Space Mountain gets a Twilight Zone overlay for Halloween. They are going to reuse the 5th dimension projections to chase you around the track. And the TZ theme music will be blasting through the entire ride.

It'll be beautiful, I can see it now.

;):p:cool:

And here I was, thinking current Disney management declared war on outside IP's and originality :p

I like this idea, They have a perfect spot with that building that mostly sits empty. They could easily turn it into a multi maze attraction for Halloween until tomorrowland gets torn down and rebuilt.

TDA seems to be so scared about adding anything that does not just appeal to the mom and kid crowd. Halloween mazes don't have to be gory or overlay scary to be fun. Look at the great job they do in International Disney parks.

Now if only they could revive the Alien encounter attraction for DCA and add a marvel connection to it. That would be another attraction that could easily be overlayed for Halloween as well and promoted for the Holidays.

They already have a Marvel tie-in if they wanted one, for anyone that has watch the most recent season of Agents of Shield, you'll remember these alien creatures called Vrellnexians more commonly known as in the series as Roaches:

Or if that doesn't suit your alien fancy, you can always use the Outriders from Infinity War:

Now that would have been an awesome animatronic for one of the scenes in mission break out to add depth to the projections

I would prefer no Marvel or any more Star Wars in Disneyland. What I would love are Halloween mazes based on the darker moments of Disney classics.... Though maybe not *quite* as dark as Hong Kong DL went. :D
