Does Mr. Toad's Wild Ride fall into the category of "absence makes the heart grow fonder?"

There was a proposal to build a Mr. Toad ride at DLP next to the restaurant that was built. You'd board in the carriage house and then go up and down the (outdoor) hillside like a small roller coaster. It would have been a good way to "update" the ride, but keep it's original appeal.

Toad in California is not the same as WDW was. The WDW version was longer, had two tracks with different scenes and a different style to how the sets and characters were painted.

While I am glad it's still around in California, it's not as good, even if it's prettier on the outside.
True about the two tracks in Florida. And I agree the ride building is far superior in Cali. More true to the book if I remember correctly.

I loved Mr. Toad for a long time. I was sad when it was gone but appreciated Pooh. That said when I rode Mr. Toad in CA after years of not having been on it, I wondered what I loved so much about it. Cute, but nothing special. Made me appreciate Pooh more.

No.

Toad had more special effects, lighting, and movement per square foot than Pooh has. Toad had such much movement. Granted they were flat caricatures but it was very, very well done.

The Disneyland version of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride remains mildly popular, in a Fantasyland that has four other similar Walt-era small dark rides within a few dozen yards of each other (plus Winnie The Pooh and Roger Rabbit dark rides in other lands in the park). Mr. Toad is cute and unique, but not particularly earth-shattering. I'm surprised it's still something WDW fans talk about.

Both Toads have/had a rebellious and playful spirit. No other ride has you nearly slam into several people (and in WDW you actually did collide with one poor gypsy who served as the exit doors for the gypsy room), go to prison, and die from a train crash and go to Hell! And of course featured this at WDW:
