For one, I like that I will not have to sprint to one side of the park in the morning to get a fastpass to one attraction, only to have to sprint back to the other side of the park to ride another attraction on standby (eg TT and Soarin, KS and E:E)

Isn't it possible that FP's may only be available at times close to each other? Or, on the other side of the spectrum, maybe FP's will only be available for times WAY spread apart. Not that that differs from FP now. I'm just trying to figure out how the new system will work.

Disney already paid a $2 million penalty to the FTC for illegally amassing and selling the private information of children. So we know the desire is there. And now they are lobbying to have those laws "relaxed".

And then they launch this $2 Billion datamining program in TddlerWorld.

As the father of 2 daughters, how do you think I feel?

Very wise you are, Master Yoda.

To me this is the reason I like the idea of FP+ so much. I won't have to go to HS at rope drop and charge to TSMM, or run for FP for Soarin.

It doesn't scare me for any reason that it's too complicated...

What does scare me is that I believe this could morph into a king of levels program where X dollars gets you higher access. That's why I love the FP, one FP per paid admission no matter who you are or where you come from. It is a level playing field.
The could have done that with the current fastpass system any time they wanted to. They even filed patents for it. Why would they suddenly do it with the new system when they did not with the old one.?

I guess it would be possible, but I doubt that is what will happen. If the tests are any indication, you will be able to choose form several pre-selected times.

I will wait and see how it works around six months after it is rolled out. Hopefully it will have gone through its paces during slow and high season. Also, I will be snaring one of the ducks that hangs around the pond and attatching my RFID to its leg. I would love for the people to track that!! "Wow, he went from the MK to Epcot in an matter of minutes, and he didn't even go through the turnstiles".

True, but the threat of a caste system at WDW is no greater now than before.
well, they started with the fact that onsite guests get the bands, offsite guests get a paper ticket that they can pay for an upgrade to a band.
already, that is a seperation between haves and have nots.

Weelll...I guess I am kind of weird about things... I can turn on a dime, and I like to go and do different things and plenty of variety is essential for my well being but I get depressed over change... and to me this represents change. For instance I love getting on the WDW website and planning and pricing vacations and saving offers...including making reservations for dining. Now I have to list my dining companions by name age and all that crap. Took the fun right out of making ressies for me. I like apps on my phone but if I have encountered frustration using apps mainly for work, not necessarily for disney and I don't feel like I want to be frustrated making all these changes on my phone to my WDW schedule, so of course I won't and hopefully I don't have to take crap about it on my next vacation. FP+, hell I have yet to conquer the current FP system. I have collected more FP than I have ever used. I kind of feel like the money on this investment should have been spent on the rides whether it was maintenance or new ones. On the other hand Walt being the innovator that he was, probably would have supported this technology...maybe not necessarily how they are fixing to implement it though... Am I scared of it? More like leery and not thrilled. Will I use it, sure just like I use all software and hardware since 1989, to the level of my imcompetence in order to extract exactly what I need to...

I just think that the implementation of the bands and that items can all be scheduled online opens up more of a possibility. I just think the possibility of it becoming a reality is a little closer now with these developments, despite always being a possible outcome.

Gosh, I just learned about this today and it seems so unnecessary. Such a waste of money and infrastructure in my opinion. I'm already confused enough by the new website. I had to call today to fix some glitches that arose with our reservations due to the website. I mean, I guess what it comes down to is that yes we have the ability and the technology--but does that mean we have a need? Just because you can doesn't mean you should. I have enough people (aka companies-- but companies are people too :p) prying into what I buy on a daily basis. And yeah, I get it, "cater to you" opportunities. But this is just kinda overkill in my opinion.

On site guests have had advantages over offsite guests for many years. Not such a big deal.

I am with you, I do not think I like the new website at all, the old one froze up alot but it did what I wanted it to do. This one wants the name and age of everyone eating when you make a ADR. How freaking tedious is that?

Where does it state that only onsite guests get bands? Where does it even state that a band is the only option? They used the RFID room keys in the test and new the ticket medium will have to have an RFID chip to even get through the gates. I'll wager that the "bands" will be a pay option and not "necessary" at all.
