We are going to be in DW on Feb 1st. This will be our 7th trip in 5 years, but we never get the Photo Pass. They offer a CD of all your photos. Does anyone have any insight about PhotoPass? Is it worth it. Right now, I can get it for $99. Is that a good deal?

Hmm...99.00 for photopass?

They take your photos for free in pre-assigned areas throughout the parks (i.e. everyone's photos look exactly the same with the same angles - i.e. castle, tree of life, etc)...It's all linked to your card.

You can then preview and see your photos online by going to the assigned website, and decide if you want any of them or not. Not 99.00

Not sure where the 99.00 photopass is coming from, but I am sure someone will offer suggestions.

I would say not worth it -- bring your own camera, you will get the exact same photos for much less.

We went in Dec. They offered us a free photo movie. We stayed onsite and the free offer was in the hotel paperwork. When we got back we selected what photos we wanted (we used all of our own photos)- we could have purchased Disney's photos. But it arrived in four days time and we were really pleased with the results. Does the $99 include all the photos that Disney takes for you? If so, if you get lots of those photos taken it would be easy to get the value out of it.
We had never done the photopass cd or the movie, but now that we got our first one for free, we would be more likely to buy one as it is a fun way to sit down and watch your vacation all over again.

Ok the $99 photo pass is for the CD of all your vacation photos. I think it is well worth it if you are doing more than 1 or 2 parks and if you are not local - and this is a special vacation. They do a great job taking photos and you can get quite a few on that CD.

Considering if you buy the photos online they average $12.99 each.

Also what is better than having your whole family in pictures in front of our beloved park icons, like the castle, SSE, EE, Tree of Life? Right on Main Street....and you can get the photographers to take extra pics in silly poses. I have a great on of me & DH when the photographer told him to kiss me and you can tell by my body language that I am totally taken off-guard.

So anyhoo I recommend it.

Photopass may seem alot at $99 but there is one very large advantage. If you decide to buy then the cost is $99 for 1 photo or 999 photos. If you are thinking about doing the photopass then take as many pictures as possible. You can even include those taken at the water parks. Another tip once you have the photographers attention get them to take the pic from the angle or location you want. Thats what we did and got more than 900 pics over a 3 week location.

Hope this helps!!

Yep, tell them you want something silly or different. At AK last Sunday I saw a lot more photopass areas than I did early last year. I kicked myself this past Christmas not getting the CD because I really had to pick and choose picture and they were still $67 and that was with the 40% MVMCP discount.

What is the 40% MVMCP discount and how do you get it? Also, I noticed in an earlier post that you are a Bucs fan. Well I am a Saints Fan from New Orleans. Did you watch the Bucs game played here in the Superdome. I bet you were in awe when we did the reverse with Bush and fumbled the ball to give the game away, huh? Well let's just say, that I was at that game (season ticket holder) and if my daughter wasn't sitting next to me, I would have invented a new swear word or two!

If you are at MK during the Christmas party or the Halloween party, they give you a special photopass card and you get 40% off your prints that nite. It also works if you hook your other cards from other days to your account. I was able to get 40% off photos taken the weekend before the party on both occasions!

Oh yeah....the Bucs and the Saints always have interesting games! I always thought that old Saints coach looked like the singer for Judas Priest.

I never order pictures from photopass because what I do is go up to the photopass photographers, have them take the picture with their camera and link it to the card and then I ask them to take the same picture with my camera. The pictures come out great and I just have to pay the 12 cents to have it printed. Of course if they get a shot that for whatever reason isn't on my camera, I would just buy that one picture. But that is just me :)

Totally worth it!

There are so many opportunities with the photo pass CD and they can fit hundreds onto one CD. It really saved us from having to take our camera EVERYWHERE with us. They take amazing shots. AND if you offer any suggestions, like backwards down mainstreet, or with the tiny statues around Partners... they'll do it. We even found a photographer walking back to his station to refill on cards that was willing to take pics with us at random places around AK that were on his way.. because we already had a card. Not to mention, we got to buy pics of my DH2B's surprise proposal on Day 1 (which the camera man had NO clue about..) but did an amazing job of capturing EVERYTHING.

Go for it.. and take all the pics you can! We wound up with about 130 pics... with room for quite a few more... we just ran out of time to fill them up because we were slackers about it until the last few days of our trip.

Totally worth it!

I'm about to order some photopass pictures from our Dec. trip, and the price of the CD is $125. It was $99 when we went in the spring, so it was recently increased.

We went last June and did not use photopass. To be honest we didn't even look into it. However, all our photo's were of myself and the kids or my better half and the kids, cause either she or I were taking the pics. So when we went back in December, we decided that it would give it a try. All I can say is it was priceless. All are of the family together at the best locations, usually three different poses. The magic that they add by adding Tinkerbell and the other characters was a wonderful surprise. When we got home we had a blast editing the photo's online and bought both the Photo Album and the CD because it was our 1st Christmas Trip to WDW. If I had known how good the whole thing was I would have taken advantage of the advanced purchase and saved a few bucks.

The price was increased, but Disney sent me a promotion e-mail. If I order it before the trip, I get a discount. Maybe everyone should call before their trip and ask for the discount.

Thanks, Jenn for the PM regarding your photos. I enjoyed them. You two are definately in love. Congrats! My wife and kids love Disney as much as I do. It is great to have family who enjoy "The World" with you. By the look of those "kissy" pictures, you'll soon have some little ones to enjoy "The World" with also. LOL.

LOL.... We're waiting till atleast the honeymoon before we even think of making some DSs and DDs LOL... he's already got a 13yr old DS... that's all we need for now...

But when you get a mickey shaped ring from the emporium on Day1 of your trip infront of the castle... it's hard to keep your lips to yourself....

Absolutely. We've done it twice...once when the CD was in some sort of 'beta' phase and you could only order the raw images, and just this past October, where you could add add logos/borders/other icons on a picture then save it back to the account before the CD was created. Quality was stellar, lots of good ideas for posing our group. The only photos that were poor quality were the nighttime photos at MGM with the hat in the background (no, the hat wasn't the problem)...I think the photog was new and kept bumping the camera when pressing the shutter.

Everywhere we went, when they asked, we said 'Sure!'. Ended up with 35 good images, and could have had more if we had more days. Usually everyone else is in our photos but me; this time we had lots of great family shots.

The photopass web site also gives you the chance to build a 'photobook' with the images...never did that but it looks like a nice keepsake.

Hope this helps. Gary

Disney Photopass

The $99 price is if you pre-order the Photopass. We used on our last trip and have really enjoyd the pictures. They took 80 pictures and when we got home, we went online and added borders to the pictures. We recieved 220 pictures on the cd, the 80 originals plus the pics with the added borders. We also found out that if you get pictures with characters, there are special borders for character. I also understand they are selling a 20 minute phot shoot in the Grand Floridian for $25.
We are going the first week of December and will use both offers.
Here are some the Photopass pics:
