Hi~

We are going to be in WDW from 10/20 to 11/4. I am hoping for light crowds but have heard about a week in November when Jersey schools are closed. Does anyone know when this will be?

Thanks a bunch!

First comment- Jersey week is during our Teacher's Convention. This year's convention is the weekend of Nov.8-Nov.10. Basically that means that the pilgrimage will begin anywhere from Nov.2 through the following weekend. (BTW- the convention is always the second weekend of November for future planning purposes)

Second comment-:( Boo-hoo-hoo! I have to go back to work tomorrow! Wish I were back in Disney!

It usually falls on the same weekend as Veteran's Day, and Super Soap weekend.

I was down last year, and it wasn't terrible at all. Busier than normal, sure. But, not at all unbearable. I would call the crowds moderate.

It was also fun because that Thursday night, Rutgers football had its biggest win in franchise history last year, and there was tons of scarlet and black out the following day.

I also thought there was going to be a mutiny on The Great Movie Ride when the gangster made the comment about New Jersey while driving through the deserted town.

Good luck tomorrow! We don't get kids until Thursday, but we've been back since last week. I finally got my classroom set up last Friday!

Let's face it- no matter when you go to Disney- there will always be a lot of people from Jersey. You can't escape them.....

I teach Music at two schools in a large South Jersey town. I have approx. 800 students. I had eight trips running where I ran into a student. I even ran into a family from my school on my honeymoon. (Yes- it was during Jersey week in 1999)

It doesn't bother me- when I'm at WDW- I'm still at the happiest place on Earth!

The first full week of November. We got caught up in Jersey week last year, but experianced no problems. I have never been to Disney and not seen it crowded. It's not your summer crowd, but a small wait is expected overall.

Our pilgrimage begins on Nov 3rd and I will back at school the following Monday. I do know alot friends of mine...jersey of course...go the week after as well. The leave on the Thursday of convention and take the next week too. I am a secretary, so we never have anything to go to at the convention anyway.

I think this year, I may just go to the boardwalk, pick up a jersey girl beach bag and sweatshirt for Disney...I'm sure no one in Florida will be able to tell where we are from... !

It is always the week of election day, most school districts, that is MOST close but there are a few that do not close. And because of that small point, my wife who is a teacher by the way, we can't go the whole week.  But the bright side to it is that EPCOT also has the IF&WF going on. But on another bright side we have already made plans for the end of March, it will be a Grand Gathering, with a small surprise. My brother-in-law and his family will be joining us, but the surprise will be his father will show up without them knowing. The last time they knew but the kids did not now none of them will know.:D

Do you mind me asking what school you teach at? My son may have been in one of your classes.

He's gone to Parkway, Larchemont, Hartford, Harrington, and now he's at Lenape.

. . . but don't hold it against me if he made your life hell.:lookaroun
