Does anyone know the budget for the seven dwarves mine train?

The only part of the attraction that needs an overhaul is the dementor section. Talk about laughable after you get a close look at them, there nothing more than nerf footballs in cloth.

ha ha ha true that lol (the AAs were laughable too, not only in the rides but throughout the land, i thought many of the effects in the land were cheesy )

Forbidden Journey is an utterly amazing ride.
I live for Disney, but they've done NOTHING on that level......................at least not yet.
Anybody talking it down clearly has a Potter grudge, a Universal grudge, hasn't ridden..........or has terrible taste in attractions!:ROFLOL:

I can't wait for the Mine ride, it'll be a huge improvement for the Magic Kingdom.
But it won't come close to approaching FJ. Not by a mile.

I love HP, bought the last book at the 12:00 sale, went to many 12:00 openings, i have ridden it, and i would say i have a good taste in attractions,im not a fan of universal, but went to universal for the first time in 10 years to see WWOHP, had high hopes, I thought the theming of hogsmead was good, got really excited to see the castle (except for the show building sticking out of the back), the queue was great, but the second i heard magical flying bench it all went down hill, the story was rough and choppy, but theming was extremely well executed, and same with the ride vehicle, but if it was not for the ride vehicle the ride would have been horrible. once i got out of the castle, i hated the fact that the flight of the hypogriffwas a wicker hypogriff( not to mention the AA was bad) also theming of the queue of dueling dragons was not that amazing. ( i know i was not biased from the wait of the lines because we were on a private tour and did not have to wait on a long lines, but we did get to see the queues)
but otherwise the theming and ride system of the HP ride was the only thing i liked

I posted this in the picture of the day thread, but this seemed fitting. My apologies if this has been posted before.

The write up for the ride reads:

Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho! They dig in a mine from sunrise
to sunset but they march off to work each morning, singing,
Silly? No, just Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Basjful, Grumpy,
Doc and Dopey — The Seven Dwarfs.

And now you can join their merry band on a wild ride
through the rolling countryside and into the mine
"where a million diamonds shine."

It's a merry musical family adventure as the mine train
swings and sways along rocky ledges, down steep mountain
trails and through dark winding tunnels. Then it's home
from work you go to join Snow White in song and
celebration at the little cottage in the woods.

the queue was well themed but it was not original( it was previously created as sets for the movie).

This is a hilarious complaint and also not correct. Everything in the castle was built from scratch and was obviously meant to match the "look" of the movie. There were very few props here and there which were actually donated by WB for use in the queue. Universal Creative and Stuart Craig built everything else. "Sets" in movies don't have ceilings and rarely even have four walls.

i was not complaining about the queue :). i was just saying that it was not original(by not Original I meant it was not a new idea) but it fits the queue for what it is supposed to be(walking through hogwarts) i knew that they did not used the sets from the movie. it would be extremely hard to put the actual sets into the castle( the sets were much larger, and would have alot of problems fitting into the queue. and some of the older ones were probably destroyed, and if not they would need them for the upcoming movies(which they were filming at the time))

hopefully they use the same style of AAs that they are using for LM( love the skin, and the range of motion each figure in LM have)

This was actually posted on the wall masking the fantasy land work that is under way. I was pleasantly surprised to see that concept art was posted. It really gives a good indication of what we have to look forward too :)

Also, the walking area is a lot larger now, so as to fix the bottle necking problems that the original fantasy land had. Good stuff!

I wonder how fast this coaster will be going at certain points while passing the theming. Are we talking Spash Mountain-esque, but on wheels and not water?

I'm definitely more excited for this ride than any other ride Disney has built in a long, long time. I'm just hoping they can live up to expectations and deliver a quality ride for the whole family, not just little kids.

I agree, as long as the witch has a BIG part.

No sissy-ing it up. Witch should be terrifying!

AGREE! In fact there better be an animatronic as good as the witch in the great movie ride. As I said earlier this ride is going to blow people away. Disney knows what's at stake here. If people that are fresh from visiting Universal and riding HP come to ride snow white with great anticipation only to be let down and the thought of damn someone has outdone disney. But I think TDO is on the same page as me and they realize that. That's why I think it will be a low thrill e ticket with immersive and very detailed showrooms and very lifelike animatronics. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I don't think it's going to be on the level of Potter. Nothing will be, for awhile. It's getting a bit off the topic, but I have to say it amazes me that Disney has let Universal steal another decade from them. They had the best dark ride in the world (Spiderman), and then just topped themselves with Potter this decade (which has now replaced Spidey as the best dark ride in the world).

WDW still hasn't come up with anything to top Spiderman (yeah, Toy Story Mainia doesn't really cut it, ROFL), and Universal already upped the ante again.

As to the Mine Train, as some may know SW is my favorite attraction in any park anywhere (though, to be honest, I think Disneyland's version is far better than ours for a number of reasons, so the fact it's not going anywhere is a comforting thought to me). If it wasn't for this attraction, I'd already be protesting down there with signs that they dare take our Snow White.

I have to also say I can't believe they are going back to this film for a ride, when everything has felt so Pixar'd out for the past decade or so. It really gives me high hopes for the new management. I may not totally agree with Bob Iger, but the man seems to have a handle on what these parks need more than anyone since Eisner. I have said for many years on this board that our Fantasyland is a two-dollar prostitute compared to the Fantasylands of other parks, and when all is said and done I think we just may have the best one (especially if they gut Pan when Mermaid and the Mine Train are done and redo that ride properly - it's in sad shape and the other parks do it much better).

My hopes for this ride are high. The only thing that makes me a little leery is the "action" of the train. I simply could never ride that spinny-thing in Dinoland, for example. I just don't spin well (interestingly enough, Mission Space doesn't bother me for that reason - I just don't like the sealed coffin thing - and I'm not usually the least bit claustrophobic). I'm not bothered by much, but man - a Tilt-A-Whirl just does me in. I don't like motion for motion sake - it has to add to the ride. So I hope the wobbly-whatever they are building into the ride vehicles is smooth and fun, not "let's amp this up so it looks more interesting" just for the heck of it.

The whole E-ticket, D-ticket thing is very subjective and simply a fan label at this point, of course. But from what the looks of this ride are, I think it's a solid contender in the gallery of MK attractions for one of the bigger adventures in the park. And again, I'm so very pleased that they are going back to a classic film like this. I had hoped a Alice dark ride would make it to the FLE, but this was beyond my wildest dreams.

I can't wait to see it - I'll be happy even if it is a smaller scale attraction - but I do hope that the Witch is PROMINENT and they amp that up. Hopefully the roller-coaster nature of this is a signal that it's not quite a toddler ride so scares wouldn't be like the complaints they supposedly got about the original Snow White ride.

All that said - it's not going to be a Potter-killer. Disney just doesn't seem to care to do attractions on that level.
