How complicated can it be to fix the dang Yeti, should we take up a collection?
SAVE THE YETI FUND !!!

I think there's plenty of money available to WDW already, from our park admission ticket prices that we pay. ;)
IMO, we don't need a "Save the Yeti Fund".

Since the Yeti has been broken for so long now, it's doubtful they will ever fix it anyway.

I think I read that apparently the entire side of the mountain would need to be opened, the Yeti removed and foundation work performed. I am not saying that it should not be done...especially after so many years but it is not an easy fix either from what I remember reading.

The entire side of the mountain? Who designed that? Maybe the same guy that requires my vets engine to be dropped to tune it up.

Taken from another site so I just cut and pasted instead of posting a link as they tend to get taken down if they are viewed as a competitors forum....

The yeti in Expedition Everest has not worked properly since 2008. During the 2013 D23 Expo, ImagineerJoe Rohde did acknowledge the complexities associated with fixing the Yeti and did promise that it would be fixed some day.

It is believed that any fix to the Yeti in Expedition Everest will be delayed until the Flight of Passage opens as part of Pandora: The World of AVATAR in 2017. Upon opening of the new attraction, it is expected that Expedition Everest would close for a refurbishment that will result in the yeti being fixed or replaced.

September 1, 2015: On Episode #86 of the Unofficial Guide's Disney Dish Podcast with Jim Hill, Jim mentions that a refurbishment is expected to take place on Expedition Everest that will fix the yeti after Flight of Passage opens in 2017.

October 22, 2014: WDWMagic.com user Alektronic has reported that the last update was that Disney has given up on a fix for the yeti, but a replacement may take place in 3-4 years.

August 22, 2014: WDWMagic.com user Alektronic has explained the issues with the Yeti. Reportedly the programming was changed after it was installed into the mountain causing undo stress on the figure and it's foundation. The internal debate over who is responsible for this issue has reportedly contributed to it being a static figure.

August 4, 2014: WDWMagic.com user tikiman (of Tikimanpages.com) is reporting that Expedition Everest is expected to undergo a length refurbishment, during which the Yeti will be fixed. The time frame is unknown.User wdw71fan has reported that it will take place in Fiscal Year 2015 which begins on October 1st.

June 4, 2014: WDWMagic.com has reported that exterior refurbishment work is taking place on the backside of Expedition Everest. Recently, the "Bird on a stick" effect above the broken section of track was repaired and currently the broken section of track has been removed. It is anticipated that this broken section of track will return but any additional refurbishment work is unknown. There has been no public explanation for this work.

August 11, 2013: WDWThemeParks.com is reporting that Imagineer Joe Rohde said, "I will fix the yeti." This was said during the Craft of Creativity presentation at the 2013 D23 Expo. Rohde went on to explain the complexities associated with the Yeti.

April 11, 2013: Reports on Twitter and WDWMagic.com have stated that limited movement has returned to the Yeti, but it appears that these were false reports.

February 20, 2013: We reported on WDWThemeParks that there is a rumored plan to replace the current Yeti with a new version. The new version would presumably be designed by Garner Holt, would be lighter, and would be part marionette/part animatronic. Given that this is unlikely prior to 2017, and would require up to a year of downtime, this plan is largely subject to change.
