I may be wrong, but 99% of the re-furb was done inside, the only thing they removed from the exterior was the parrot, other than that the exterior is the same as it has been. What are the changes are you talking about?

I've been right here. I don't think that planter and sign are tacky, I think they look good, and to be fair, the OP said signs (plural) I was under the impression that there were multiple new signs.
