Does anyone else find the new castle turrets distracting?

I see what you mean. I'm fine with the idea of them, but I'd rather they have looked like Tokyo's turrets - no blue tips - so that they didn't detract from the castle itself.

no they look fine, I find the trees, light and speaker posts more distracting. I tired watching the show and they are in the way.
I agree with the lights and speakers. I understand they are needed but it seems like they could find a way to work them in so they don't stand out.

Anyone have a before and after picture? I didn't know they changed this, but now I can't recall what they previously looked like either, it all just kind of came as one package when looking at the castle, nothing was distracting in any way. I'm now curious to see what has been changed.

Just look over on google images, there are plenty. IMHO it makes it less cylindrical.

Not even sure if distracting is the right word. It's almost as if it's too much. Somehow it makes the beauty and special look of the castle seem like less.

I would have to see them in person. might not seem so spread out from Main Street. Did they replace the small cast iron/green roofed structures that were there before? They are not as awkward as the weird middle of nowhere/just there castle walls in the Fantasyland expansion.

It's very poor use of forced perspective and in turn it diminishes the forced perspective used in the castle itself. I think this may be what looks off to you, I know it stands out like a sore thumb to me.

If you look at this photo the turrets appear to be the same size as the ones on the castle. Comparing that to people standing nearby a person appears to be somewhere around a quarter the height of the new turret. Now looking at the turrets on the castle if you imagine a person the same size next to that turret you mind processes this and tells you that the castle is a miniature model and not a full size castle so it looks off. This is why it looks strange and in turn makes either the castle appear to be much smaller or the turrets much larger.

Compare the photographer to the turrets below:

If you look at this photo (same photo) with the turrets cropped out the castle appear to be much larger.

This makes for a very good example of poor forced perspective design. I could see this being used in design schools as an example of how not to do something.

I saw them when I was there and they didn't bother me at all. In person, the perspective is fine.

And S8film40 your pictures are at very different levels of zoom and thus are themselves misleading.

Those aren't my pictures, it's A picture I found. I only used one photo to compare it so that the zoom wasn't an issue. If your not really paying attention it will of course look fine. It's one of those small details that would when done correctly make the castle look like its the correct size. This is why when people look at it they don't catch what's wrong but to the observant viewer something doesn't quite add up.
