I live 20 miles from Atlanta where Beverly can be had at the World of Coke. next time you try it, walk outside and look at it in direct sunlight. If the mix is just right you will see what I mean. You can also put it under a UV and see the same thing.

There is another Italian soda, not from the fountains, called Chinotto and I think it may be just as bad. However, some people swear by it.

I prefer Aranciata (orange soda) and Limonata (lemon soda) more. Taste great and they might have them at the Italy pavilion restaurants. I'd have to check the menu.

I drink them at home all the time so I usually don't order them out.

My Father always has chinotto in the house. The stuff is just plain nasty.

There is also a red drink that's pretty gross, but the name escapes me at the moment.

Yes, I guess we could say count your lucky stars and hope that Beverly is never replaced by Chinotto. Chinotto is brownish in color, and might be slightly heavier. Even its aesthetic is not appealing to me. I only tried it once and once was enough. And then washed it down with an Aranciata.:ROFLOL:I swear it tasted like rogue prune juice and seltzer.:hurl:

Totally another acquired taste and some people love it too.

And there are many varieties of European palate cleansers and aperitivos, but I think I'd just prefer granita or ices.

And I was at a cafe years ago and took one for Team Sicily and drank the whole Chinotto but I don't think I could do it again.

I'd rather drink Beverly, which cracked me up when I first went to the drink station because bevere is the verb for to drink.

I've conditioned myself to be able to drink it with a smile . . .

. . . just to trick other people.:lookaroun

. . . that's how sick I am. I'm willing to cause myself displeasure just so I can take pleasure in the displeasure of others.:lookaroun

Lol, too funny.

I can't stand the stuff. My Italian grandmother would be very dissapointed. Then again, she likes Moxie too.

One fun fact that I learned on Wikipedia...Beverly flouresces in direct sunlight.
