Does anybody else really, REALLY hate "Best Time of Your Life"?

'Tomorrow' is a better song, sure, but I always felt 'Best time of your life' was more appropriate.

It was the song in COP when I first visited, and I loved it. I never got the whole 'who needs the future?' vibe from it, instead it fit very well, showing that we always think we're living in the peak of technology, even if years later looking back things look primitive. Every scene is about looking at how far we've come, instead of dreaming of the future, so it's a more appropriate song than the original.

I couldnt agree more. But unfortunately Disney has no plans of changing the song. It be nice if once a year they could revert to the original WDW model. But theres a great big beautiful tomorrow was at the original Worlds Fair so its a "Walt Staple" and cant really be touched regardless of the hate given to my favortie WDW attraction.

By a slight marging I prefer Best Time Of Your Life over Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow. GBBT can get a bit annoying after a bit. To my ears both songs are okay-ish more than great, neither really a good catchy tune.

I hate that song. They should really get rid of it. Oh wait...

But seriously... My first memories of the attraction are from the mid-80s, so the "Now is the time..." song was all I knew for a while. My sister and I hummed it for years afterward. The lyrics still make sense to me in the context of the show: the irony that we always improve on things relative to decades past was not lost on me, even as a kid.

So, my real verdict: either song works.

"Now is the Time" was the song that debuted a WDW, it played for nearly 20 years, and it seems it was only changed out of some desire to have it be more like it "had been" at Disneyland, which I don't understand. They also did something similar with the Haunted Mansion changing out the paintings and Corridor of Doors, for no other reason than for it to be more like DL.

If they want to make WDW's Space Mountain, Small World, and Pirates of the Caribbean more like DL's that would be an improvement, but the changes at The Haunted Mansion and Carrousel of Progress just seem completely arbitrary, and I'd rather they put "Now is the Time" back in

CoP wasn't changed to be more like Disneyland's since Disneyland's doesn't even exist anymore, it's in Florida. It was changed, I believe to make CoP more like the original from the Worlds Fair in 1964. I think they planned, even then, that it was going to ultimately end up being a historical attraction as opposed to a current one.

I just wish these old attractions were in their original home then I would only have an hour ride to New York City. Heck if Walt Disney only had went thru with that project with Robert Moses I would only have an hour ride to Disney World.

Love the ride and the song…kind of. Only "kind of" because my wife uses it as her alarm on her phone and I get to hear it every morning, very early, over and over as she snoozes for an hour. Most mornings, I just get up and go downstairs. She also uses it on weekends when she wants to take a nap on the couch and wake up an hour or so later. It's all I hear. Going to change it soon when she's not looking or taking a nap. Suggestions?

I totally agree It's definitely not a Grammy candidate in my book, BUT, (and this is a BIG but), it's one of those timeless nostalgic associational memories with the first experiences of Disney Magic. Therefore it, (despite it's monotony) gets a timeless "pass" and will always conjure that addictive emotion of joy that automatically translates into a "thumbs up", on my list.

I can only hear the electronic version when I hear Best Time Of Your Life! My first visit was 2003 and so I'm in the Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow camp.

Yeah, our family did this too. In fact, none of us could remember the CoP's real name, so it was always referred to as the "Now is the Time Ride" (with the first four words sung).

There was only on CoP attraction ever built, but it was moved 3 times, and each time the show was altered slightly. It started at the 64-65 World's Fair, then it was moved to Disneyland, and then it was finally moved again to Disney World. All 3 versions of the attraction had the 4 main show scenes, the "1900's", "1920's", "1940's" and originally "1960's" and "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" played at both The World's Fair and Disneyland, but in both those locations also had a 5th "finale" scene, that you reached by going up a speed ramp to the second floor of the building

What you saw in the final room at DL was the Progress City Model, which was supposed to become EPCOT, but this was the "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" Walt Disney was planning, and part of that model is still seen as part of WDW's People Mover

But the Song "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" made sense in at the World's Fair and DL because both those versions of the attraction end with a glimpse at the future, or "tomorrow". When it was moved to Disney World the second floor, 5th finale scene, was eliminated from the attraction. It was shorted to the four main "1900's to 1960's" scenes, with the 4 "seasons" added to each and the new finale scene, the 1960's, got updated to look more like the 1970's which went the ride opened in WDW was "Now", This is also when the new song "Now is the Time" debuted, and they've updated the last scene a few times over the years to keep it looking like "Now"

I know the Sherman Brothers complain about "Now is the Time" and like to the say that it was GE looking for a "commercial jingle", but when the show's ending became a scene of "now" instead of "tomorrow" the new song just made more sense with the new version of the attraction
