Do you think having a Deluxe helps a lot summer?

You'll definitely encounter rain. It may not last long but guarantee it will be strong. The worst place I ever got soaked was at the Poly, it was just coming off the roof like a waterfall and getting into the longhouse was like walking into it. That said, the deluxes are a bit smaller than some of the other more spread out resorts. There is more of a central hub with restaurants, shops, etc that the others. Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge are my favorites.

Ok...I might spring the extra 70 a night for AKL over CBR

Defiantly worth it. I love AKL. Everything is indoors or covered. Lobby to bus stop is covered, Mara walk path is covered. Unles you wanna walk outside to the pool you'll be good. Plus the lobby is amazing, the entire grounds are. You wanna sit outside and look at the safaris some of the small areas are covered to. I'd 110% go with AKL if you're able to.

For me I'm thinking the convenience for the CR is its proximity to MK and the ability to take the monorail to Epcot. Plus with being in a single building, I don't have to walk outside to eat our breakfast/lunch (provided we eat at the resort).

Whether a given resort is worth the expense is subjective.
