Do you take your cell phone in the park & where do you keep it?

Don't get me wrong...the iPhone and Galaxy/Note take fine pictures, but they still aren't as good as a decent camera. Not sure what happened in your case, but I agree the phone makes pictures easier to share. That's another issue with them...people always taking pictures with phone and emailing them, texting them, putting them on Facebook, etc. So then it just because about doing that versus just taking the picture and moving on.

I agree with that! A regular camera is just that.. a camera! Shoot, and put it away!

Absolutely. For one, I can use the MDE app on my phone, which is so helpful. But I also split from my group a lot. I'm 20, and my parents need to be able to reach me at all times or else my mother will have a heart attack. You would also be surprised how easily you can get separated and not be able to find each other. Having a phone lowers that anxiety so much when you know you can just call your group member if you get separated.

I have a case that I bought in WDW. It's got a long purse strap and a wrist strap, so I keep it around my body, and then on rides, I slide my hand through the wrist strap, or I put the entire thing in my purse.

Another good thing to keep: portable power. Like this:

You charge it ahead of time, keep it in your bag, and then if your phone runs low, then you can recharge it in your bag. I keep one or two of these in my purse. You would be surprised how much you can use your phone in WDW.

Love the idea of something simple like this I can wear across my body!

As I say, YMMV. My Canon Powershot was better at wide-angle shots with its lens, but in terms of image quality, flexibility, speed, etc, my iPhone 5s was far superior... and easier to carry to boot. A lot depends on what sort of compact digital you've got.

It was $20 down in WDW. Here's Disneystore.com selection, although if you're staying on property, you might just want to look first thing when you're down there. They'll have lots of them in your gift shop.

I eventually got annoyed with having my phone out of reach and bought this while I was down there. I don't like keeping my phone in my pocket and picked up one. Just be warned: if you've got a big phone (mine is 4.7 inches, so about the size of an iPhone 6) the cases Disney has won't work. A small purse with a long strap would most likely work better for larger phones. But the Disney cases (minus the Vera Bradleys) run $20-$30. Mine's now been through 2 trips and you can't even tell. Very well-made.

I wear cargo shorts to the parks. I keep my phone in my front pocket when I'm walking around, on slow attractions, or shows, and I put it in a buttoned pocket when I'm on more thrilling attractions.

Hopefully you informed them they got ripped off.
A ziploc is fine for "you might get wet" rides, but I've got one of those pouches; for $10, it's as good as a waterproof case. I've used my iPhone and camera while diving with no problem. Wish i had it on Shark Reef.

We interesting debate of do you take your phone with you to Phone vs Camera.

Anyways last time I took my phone with me into the parks and kept it in my front pocket. I never had an issue of loosing it on any of the rides. I have a Galaxy S5. the water resistance on the phone was a great feature when your walking around in the middle of a random Florida shower. I ditched my main camera in favor of the phone in order to save weight. Dark rides and night shots I miss the versatility of my DSLR as it performed better in low light. During daytime shots the GS5 handled great capturing fairly good exposed shots with good detail or so I thought. After I got home and processed the images I noticed a huge difference between my decade old Nikon D100 and my Galaxy S5. The S5 captured a much higher resolution but had issues with grain even at low ISO settings and in general had a bit less sharpness to the image. Granted the sharpness is probably due to better optics on the DSLR vs a phone.

At the end of the day I loved the versatility of my phone and being able to ditch the weight of the bulky DSLR, but missed the advanced camera features and settings with my DSLR.

For my trip back this year for camera usage I'm debating of going the phone route again or taking my newer D610. I'll always carry my phone. Stuck in a 60 min line makes the phone come in handy at times. I also carry a 12,000 mAh battery backup, in my bag, with iPhone and USB cables to charge my phone or other peoples phones around me if they need it.

If you have a newer iPhone, you really don't need the real camera. I have the 6 and I thought all of my pics looked pretty professional.

As a photographer this makes me die somewhat inside.

I have my phone on me while at the parks normally because it's part of a group and split up everynow and then and text to meet up again. It's always in a front pocket too or a secure cargo short pocket. I always keep it on vibrate not to disturb a ride or show, which depending on the show or ride I couldn't hear it ring anyway, plus I don't want to be that guy. As for MDE app I screen shot my fastpasses for the day and set it as my lock screen so I don't have to kill my battery loading the app. It's definatly helpful and pretty convenient, at least I think so.

My wife and myself both bring our iPhones to the parks, as mentioned before you really have to. Plus we both don't where watches anymore and just use our phones. I usually just keep mine in my pocket, or use a belt holster if my shorts don't have deep pockets. My wife almost always brings a crossbody bag by Sherpani, and keeps it in there. She just uses their bags in the park and swears by how great they are, and I've heard other people who love them as well. The only problem I have ever had is I lost my phone once at MK, I was mega stressed of course. The CMs were excellent and very helpful. When I came back that evening and checked back, they had found it, and after a few questions about identifying it, I had it back. Then I was only really upset that it got to ride Splash Mountain one more time then I did. Very thankful for the honest people and superb CM's who helped me get it back.
