Do You Remember Your First Time?

My first trip was in 1975 or 1976 and I remember bits and pieces. I remember that it rained one day and I was standing in the hotel and saying something about "What did I do to deserve this?". I remember going after my father who was on his way to the bathroom and not telling my mother I was going with him. And I remember the teacups with my sister. Oh and I remember getting a Mickey Mouse which I still have today (somewhere), he was hard plastic and had "real clothes". Who knew that one day I would be proposed to in Disney and going with my future in-laws on their first trip to Disney in 1998!!!

I was 2 1/2 and all I remember is Winnie the Pooh kissing me on the nose somewhere in I think Fantasyland.

I do remember I was in a blue stroller, the style that was just replaced no too long ago.

My first time at WDW was June 3, 1985 on my honeymoon with my wife.. We stayed off porperty at the Wynfield Inn (I actually had to go into an old photo album to get the name right on that one) on 192 in Kissimmee.

The morning of June 3 changes my life forever. I had to sit down the place hit me so hard after walking under the train station into Town Square...Totally bowled me over... That was just the two of us and we now have four kids and have been back many times since for many more wonderful memories. Still the first time will always be extra special

I don't necessarily remember my first trip- I went quite a few times when I was between about 6 and 14 years old.
A few of the fond memories though, were:

*My grandfather telling me to watch out for the dinosaur drool (UofE!)
*My grandparents leaving Valentines for us between the doors of our adjoining rooms at the Poly (on Valentines Day)
*Looking for Alligators at the golf course
*Lining up track-start style with my cousins to race off after the rope drop to get our name first on the breakfast list at The Land
*Looking across the plaza while ascending the outside portion of "World of Motion"
*Choosing which final scene (Underwater for me!) we'd get to see on "Horizons"

I have now been to WDW about eight or ten times. However, I am going Feb. 2004 to make what may be the most memorable trip of my life. My parents are hosting me and my girlfriend- who happens to be the most incredible person to ever enter my life. She has been to DL and DLP before for a day each and has no idea what the true scope of WDW really is. Lord knows she's sat (/suffered?) through enough of the Vacation Planning videos, but no matter how excited she says she is, I have a feeling she has no idea what she is truly in for.
Anyway, what brings this up is the above comment:

:)

If all goes to plan, this will be the time and place where I will ask this treasure in my life to be my wife.
Hopefully, come next February, my love will be able to add to this list of such a memorable first trip!

That sounds awesome Wild01ride. Congrats, even if they are a little in advance. Do you have a spot picked out yet to do it? If not, I am sure you can get a few suggestions from the folks here.

No, I don't have a spot picked out. I had mentioned proposing in general before and someone here on the boards suggested "what better spot than WDW?!"
So, suggestions would be more than welcome- any ideas anyone (that's probably a whole new thread!)??

My first trip to WDW was when I was 4 years old back in 1977. I don't really remember too much of it, other than we stayed at the Contemporary (in one of the garden wings) and we went to the Luau at the Polynesian.

My second trip was when I was 6, where my memories are much more vivid. We stayed at the Contemporary. Some of things I clearly remember were:

1) We wore our tickets around our necks like necklaces (can't remember if this was just the kids or everyone).

2) The Fiesta Fun Center in the Contemporary, all decorated in bright orange colors. When you walked in, there used to be a man drawing caricatures. They projected the caricature he was drawing on a projector for everyone to see. The man wasn't visible; I think he sat behind a wall - this freaked me out as a kid ( reminded me of the Wizard of Oz!). Also, to the left was a shooting gallery and a movie theater.

3) Our parents left us at the Mickey Mouse Club (babysitting service) one night, so they could go see the show "Top of The World". We had the best time there!

4) Drinking orange or grape juice around the MK in plastic containers that looked like an orange or a grape!

5) I remember how all purchases were in these orange, pink, and white paper bags ( i think I may still have one lying around!)

6) Being absolutely terrified of the Snow White Ride..I think we had to ride It's A Small World twice to put back "happy thoughts" into our minds!

These were just a few I thought of - this brings back so memories, I'm ready to look at the old photo album now!:)

Judging by everyone on this thread I must be the latest starter! I was 24(had my 25th birthday in WDW) in 1998. I had always wanted to go to WDW but my family holidays were to first world war battlefields(do not ask). My now ex husband always said we would go when our kids were 8 or 9. I dont even really want kids! Hence the divorce! Anyway, my great aunt died and left me some money so I told my new boyfriend we were going to WDW and my great aunt was paying! We are both now hooked and this Oct will be our 4th trip.

In addition to my previous memories:

*The flip-down seats on 20k Leagues
*Playing on the beach at the Poly
*Looking over the edge in the Contemporary and being terrified of how far up we were.

Micbat - lol. I guess when you're 6, dancing dolls were more pleasant to look at than a scary witch holding out an apple!

My first time when I was around 8 years old. The most memorable part of my trips was going on Horizons, World of Motion, SSE, Pirate of the caribean,Mr. Toads Wild Ride and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

I rember the last part of Horizons like it was yesterday :(

Hmmmm.....

How about in the Rose Garden, watching the fireworks, just as Tink flies overhead. Of course, she may get angry at you for making her cry and miss the fireworks!

Also, you could probably call WDW Guest Services and work something out with them if you REALLY want to go overboard....

I was in 1st or 2nd grade watching a T V special on WDW. After it was over my mom asked me, "How would you like to go there?" Of course I jumped @ the chance...we went to MK & Epcot (the only 2 parks at the time). Annual passes were CHEAP then, so we got them. On our last day we went to the Orlando museum of science for a bit and then came home.

I haven't been back since May of last year and I'm having SERIOUS withdrawal...hopefully I'll be there Aug. 15 for the soft opening of Mission Space...

I had 3 first times.

My first, 20 yrs. old, 1980. Drove from Chicago. Total in our group was 16. We had matching shirts, stayed at the Hotel Royal Plaza. Ages were my friends parents then, 21, 21, 20, 19, 19, 18, 17, 17, 17, 16, 15, 15, 13, 8. We had an awesome time. Only Magic Kingdom and Village Marketplace then and we got the 2-day passport, no ticket books for us.

My second first time was in 1984 with my new husband. He had never been. We had spent 7 days in Jamaica and then were spending 3 in WDW. Great seeing Disney through his eyes. This time only MK and Epcot, and the Village Marketplace.

My third first time was in 1993 when my 6 yr. old son went to WDW for the first time. There's really nothing cooler than watching your kid, grandkid, nephew/neice etc. see Mickey for the first time. He's now 16 and has been to WDW more than I have.

I know we did something right in the parenting process. We have raised a WDW person.
