Do you plan days off?

Do you guys plan days off the parks during your WDW vacation? When we used to travel as a couple, we saw that as a waste of time (sorry!), but now that we travel with our son, I'm definitely planning one, with relaxing time by the pool and maybe shopping/dining at DTD. We used to be the commando type, but with a little one (he'll be 4 on our next trip), it's a different story, you need to slow down and follow his rhythm!
Do you plan one or multiple days off the parks? What do you do during those days, and when do you plan them during your vacation?

I'm trying to keep our adrs to a minimum. It's not so easy to do. Lol. So far we only have dinner reservations and two breakfast reservations for our 9 day trip. We are flying in from New Jersey at 9:00 am so I'm sure by the afternoon my daughter will be ready for a break. I'm hoping for afternoon breaks to swim and relax and enjoy the resort.

As a kid my family would go for a week and we would always make sure to have a couple days to lounge at the pool, go to DTD, and relax. We still saw mostly everything we wanted to, but if not, no big deal - just do it next time! Now that I am grown and have 2 little ones, rest days are a MUST - for the kids but also for us. I don't want to return from vacation feeling like I already need another one! So we plan to alternate park days with rest days. If we have a full day at a park, or a late night, I make sure we can sleep in and have a low key day the next day.

I'm jealous of people say they can rest at home - with little kids that doesn't happen at our house!

:hilarious:Have you met my son? I soooo get that, I don't even remember what "rested" feels like!!!

Yes when we went for two weeks at the end of August when the DSs were school-aged, we'd get a 5 day park hopper pass and 3 days at a water park. Our days off would be downtime to sleep in because we always did early entry and stayed late, pool time, laundry and DTD. Once we did sneak off to Universal for a day and to (the name of the place escapes me) ... where they have the Knights on horses. Our trip next Christmas is 9 days and we've got 7 day park hoppers ... interesting to see how this will work as DH will be 66.
