Do you make a little Magic while in WDW?

What do I mean?

Do you, as a guest, take it upon yourself to do a little something for another guest, or CM, while you are in the World?

On this last trip (last week), my wife wanted to make some princesses feel special. Oringinally, we were going to buy a bag of the plastic jewels and give the royal gems to the royalty when we found them. Instead my wife purchased on of those Mickey head gem stretchy bracelets for one special little princess.

We found Snow White in the World of Disney and my wife approached (after getting a nod from the parents) her and told the little girl that she found themm and they looked like princess jewels, but she wasn; a princess and she was looking all over for a princess to hold them for her. The little girl nodded and took the bracelet on her wrist, the parents smiled and we walked off giggling with a tear in our eye after we saw her walking away staring at her new royal jewelry.

We made sure that the parents knew were weren't kooks and that they were indeed paid for (not just taken out of the bin).

Next trip we're considering stealing an idea from a CM friend. We're going to buy a princess autograph book and get the princesses signatures (with parent's permission of course)

It all adds another level to the experience at WDW for us.

Anyone else ever do anything like this?

On my honeymoon in 2002, DH and I found out about lanyard series pins. This was before they marked them with a hidden Mickey. On the bus on the way back to the resort a little girl fell in love with a lanyard princess pin I had, and DH and I heard her ask her parents if they would buy her one. When the parents asked us where we got that pin I explained about the lanyard series and showed them the back of the pin. I looked at the girls lanyard and she still just had the pin trading starter set so after asking the parents I just gave the pin to the girl. The smile on her face was priceless, and the parents couldn't stop thanking us. It's nice to spread the magic around.

That sounds really nice, I'm sure she felt very special.

It's too bad this day in age people couldn't do more stuff like that without consequences. Usually when people approach me and start talking, it usually ends with, "so you want to buy some Mona Vie" or "have you ever wanted to work for yourself, Mary Kay, Amway, etc".

Keep up the good work, maybe it will spread. I bet that kid will never forget it.

On several occasions I've hired many people to play strangers, arranged all sorts of curtains and mirrors and even made sure to not cut away during the live filming - but i still can't pull off a Copperfield-style dissapearance of Leave a Legacy.

GOOD FOR YOU! It is rare that anyone does anything for anyone and not expect something in return so it is really great to hear something like this:sohappy:. My family went for the first time last year and we shared our seats at Illuminations with an older couple who was standing a little ways from us. They were very greatful and it was no big hassle to us. I just felt bad for them because I know how much walking you do at Epcot and it's nice to just sit for a few minutes. But this gives me some great ideas! You have restored my faith in humanity.

I don't know if this counts but while going up the escalator to the PM an old lady in front of me fell backwards. The person in front of me jumped out of the way and I ended up catching her. Didn't really have a choice. She was spanish and clearly upset but, unharmed. I told her in spanish that she was ok. The wife was so impressed that we went back to the resort to work on the "little souvenir!" See avatar....

We try. Usually it's just some Fastpasses that we have that we can't (don't have the time/need to) use. It's strange that some people don't want them.

My DD wants to trade pins for the first time this year and has a few to start her off. My aunt bought her a little Scotland flag pin and she wants to buy a few more and give them to CMs that have been particularly kind to her. I think its a sweet idea for a 6 year old but I am not sure if they are allowed to put them on their lanyard. Obviously she wants to use them as a gift and not to trade!

For us, we usually try to give out Fastpasses for popular attractions (i.e. Soarin', SM, RnRC, etc.). Amazing how it really puts a smile on a family's face sometimes. We've also given up our seats while wating for parades or fireworks shows.

We went on the Disney Cruise this past fall and were in line waiting to meet Jack Sparrow on the ship. The boy behind us was asking his parents if he thought Captain Jack would remember him from the last time he met him. We picked up what the little boy's name was from their conversation. (I can't remember now what it was). So when we finished meeting Captain Jack we wispered to him that the boy behind us was hoping he would remember him and we gave Captain Jack his name. We waited around to see what happened, and sure enough Captain Jack said, "Hey Jimmy!" (or whatever his name was) "I remember you!". The kid was so excited that he remembered him and it really made us feel good too! :)

I did not think this thread was going to contain what it does from the title.

I'm usually hitting WDW already fairly broke from just getting there so I haven't done anything like this although it'd be neat to do....

Ha....kinda...
I've been known to wear an old name tag on my ID laynard from time to time.
Naturally that leads to me being asked questions on a regular basis, like "Where is the nearest bathroom?" or "Which way is ____ ride?"
Sometimes annoying....but kinda fun, too.

I get the Micky Head confetti like that have at the morning opening at the Magic Kingdom (or pick it up) and keep it in my camera pack. If we're on the bus or in line and get talking to a youngster, I'll give them some of the Micky heads. (with parent approval). Most of the young ones are in there 1st of 2nd time to the park they think it's real a great big deal. It's great to see the look on their face. We both get a little magic out of it.

Aw this is such a nice thread - I love to hear magic stories in Disney!

I had a blast this past trip with my family. Our uncle is in a wheelchair, and it was a very busy spring break day in the MK. We were getting to walk on many rides w/almost no wait because we were in the handicapped line with him. So a couple of times, when the lines for rides for the general public were REALLY bad, we would get 6 fast passes. I would then find a really nice family of 6 at the back of the line and give it to them. They were so excited & so happy, and it just made their day.

We only did it a few times because I know fast passes are there for a reason & I didn't want to mess up the system. I just thought it was a nice thing to do for a few families on the biggest rides. =)

Sadiebird, your story totally rocked! It didn't cost you a dime yet made all the difference in the world for that little guy. That's awesome!

Prior to our last trip in December I bought like 2 dozen thimbles, had my hubby drill 2 holes in each, then tied a pretty Tink-green ribbon onto each. These were our "kisses" that we gave to CMs or fellow guests who went out of their way to make a difference and add some extra pixie dust. :)

Also, on our last trip our boys decided they wanted to collect autographs again while we did character meals. At the end of the meals we would ask our waitor or waitress for their autograph, too. The boys posed for pics with them and we all made a fuss just like when the characters came around. It was fun to do and the CMs seemed totally flattered by it. We also stopped for pics with one of the doormen at GF. He seemed really excited about the attention, too. Even if you stop to do pics with security guards or ice cream cart attendants it really boosts the CMs because it makes them feel a little more appreciated. We've done a few CM pics with the family in the past. It's always a good time and a fun memory.
