Do you like musicals?

Enjoy musicals (theatre in general) so much that I've spent the past 4+ years working for various Broadway musicals and now make a living selling theatre tickets to Broadway, Off-Broadway, and London theatre. As well as performing IN theatre here in NYC on occassion.

A touring production of Singing in the Rain visited The Bristol Hippodrome several years ago. Word has it that the director / star was an arrogant swine. The crew took their revenge by using the rain tank instead of the toilets. It was literally ing down on his head during the show!

LOL, actually on closing night we played a trick on the guy that played the lead. We took the water that got pored on him via the rainspout (it was poured through a hole in the rear of the set by a grip) and put a ton o fice cubes in it. Then just before the scene we scooped out the ice and let it go and he let out a big hollar and gave a halarious reaction. It was priceless.

I'm a big fan of broadway! I've seen a good number of shows, but my all time favorite is Phantom of the Opera. I saw it for the first time in NYC and was hooked. I've seen it two other times since. Once in Atlanata and once here in Birmingham.

I expect you are looking forward to the movie version. My Dad has spent a lot of days working on it as a supporting artiste (walk on roles). He has nothing but praise for the whole production, which surprised me as he does not like Lloyd-Webber shows.

I might try to see it again now that it's touring here in Orlando.
I'm sure I'll be disappointed. I saw it in London.

Same thing happened with Lion King. I saw it in London and then on tour in Memphis and was very disappointed.

How exciting for your dad!!!! I think that's awsome!!!!

Oh I am very excited about the movie version. I haven't heard much about it, only that they are doing one. Is this going to be like the movie version of Chicago?

I'm such a Phantom fan that I have several collectables from it. :)

You can not tell what the film will look like from when it's being shot. The eventual feel can depend on the postproduction and editing process.

However Dad says the sets are amazing, the crew is great and the director top notch. He has been on enough shoots to have experienced many different crews. This has been his favourite shoot.

What was different about the touring version?

London tip - If you do not mind standing for the show, you can get standing tickets for Lion King on the day of the show. Only available from the box office, in person. This is how I saw it. A great view with no heads in the way.

Part of the lines were different with the British and American humor.

It's hard to say exactly what the differences were. It just didn't seem as good.

Well, maybe we British just have a better sense of Stage Presence. :animwink:

It also costs a lot less to see over here. I noticed that Lion King is headed to Boston. Tickets cost Over $100 for the worst seats and go to over $250. That is absurd. I saw it for the equivalent of $15 in London. Top price I guess is in the region of $60-$70
