Having them removed is, I guess, a lengthy, expensive and painful process.

...not to mention that they aren't 100% gone.

I saw a picture in a magazine of Tom Arnold without a shirt (don't ask...) about 3 years ago.

As you may recall, when he was married to Roseanne, he had a tattoo of her face (I guess you could call it a portrait) on his chest.

In this photo, you could still see that face.

And I'm with DisneyJill--I can't imagine what I would want on my body forever.

I am much older than the rest of you, and know for a fact how many things are different for me than they were 20 years ago. (About the only thing I still like after these years is my hubby!)
What seems like a terrific idea at age 22 seems totally stupid when you're 45. ("Girls Gone Wild" springs immediately to mind........)

Hey Maria--nice photo with the muffler. Where was it taken? Surely you weren't at home!!

I was just going to say the same thing. I have seen some beautiful tatoos, but I just can't imagine having one for the rest of my life.
When we were in WDW in August I saw a mom/daughter combo with matching tatoos on the small of their backs. Now my girls and I do alot of stuff together, but I don't think this will be one of them.
Not to mention, I'm much better when I'm giving needles than receiving them. :D

and just for the record...a lot of stuff I thought was great at 20 now seems stupid at 45, too.

One of my friends got a tattoo for his 16th birthday. Its pretty cool and he drew it himself. I draw on my skin all the time and once drew a lighting bolt on my arm with an art pen and it didnt go away for about a month... Plus I had to fight to get my second holes in my ears... I would never be allowed to get one!

I always liked the idea of just gettin one when I turn 18 but I'd have to get something really symbolic so it would still mean something to me later on in life, maybe if I find something that symbolic to me I might do it.

Yes it is painful. Mine only took about 15 minutes, and I wanted it to end after the first 2 minutes. My friend got one on his upper back that took two hours, and he was about to kill himself. He was in so much pain. But it was totally worth it, especially because it was mickey!

I want a small tattoo on my upper back, right below my neck. I've to get it because I'm not sure what I want. I'm thinking small and simple. I think tattoos are sexy if done right.

See, I think it depends on who you are. Cuz the first two minutes of mine was the worst, but soon ya kinda go numb and it turns into this small, annoying, okay lets go, kinda of pain. It was bearable.

I'm a huge wimp when it comes to pain, but it definitely has to do with where it is located. On the spine, high up is the worst, so I've been told. It also depends upon the person.

I agree on the location thing. The one on my calf hurt way less than the one one my shoulderblade.

(I do have a disney one too btw....a tinkerbell lol)

I keep meaning to get a henna tattoo at Epcot, and never have gotten around to it. I'd like a way to do it at home, but haven't been able to find a way to do it in real life, and it's not the kind of thing I want to order on the net and wait for. Body art is something I have to do on impulse.

I have a tendency to draw tribal bracelets (with hidden mickeys) more than anything else, so if I ever were to get something permanent, it would be an anklet like that. But I won't. I just know a month later I'd be wishing I'd put it a quarter inch higher, or gone with a slightly different pattern. So it's tattoo pens for me. :) (And maybe henna, if I ever find it around here....maybe I should check Sally's?)

My original post was a contest question on a local radio station today and I was in the car WITH NO CELL PHONE!! I beat it home, but couldn't get through. Oh well, lost tickets for the family to a local Haunted House and two pizzas from Domino's.

Have you guys ever seen this Tattoo guy? He calls himself Disney's #1 Fan and for all the ink he has on his body, I would agree.

http://www.disneytattooguy.com/george.htm

Check it out.

OMG!!

"George is the only person in the world ( with permission to have his entire body with exact Disney characters and portraits. George only goes to only 2 private tattoo artists (Disney prohibits him from going to tattoo parlors or appearing in tattoo magazines). He has been tattooing Disney tattoo characters for over 30 years. His first tattoo was Magic Mickey in 1973. Since then, he goes for tattoos every week! Tattoos cover 85% of his body at a value of about $99,000 to date"
