Do you hate WDW but still go?

My Fiancée has a hatred for Disney only because of the money aspect of it. He always grumbles and groans about going back, but gets excited about it about 1 to 2 days before we leave. When we're there he's like a kid in a candy store. But getting the credit card bill after we return home....man oh man he gets maaaad! Then the cycle starts all over again ;)

It just means he's a good father who strives to make his family happy. Kudos to him for this. There are plenty of things parents do for their children which are probably torturous for them. I'm sure my father & mother had better weekend ideas than to sit in a Showbiz Pizza and listen to Rock-a-Fire Explosion sing for 2+ hours. But when I was little, that's what they did many times.

Would I go to Disney if I hated the place? For me personally, of course not. But if I was in this man's shoes & it was all for my family, I'd do it (or far less entertaining errands) in a heartbeat if it makes them happy. Their happiness would be my reward.
LOL, yeah kudos for enduring a trip to Disney every year. What a guy.

Geez, he might not like it, but aren't there WAY worse things than a trip to Disney. People are so dramatic.

For some people, no there are not. My dad says he would not go back to Disney World again to save his immortal soul. I know more people who hate the place than I know people who love it. My wife tolerates it only because the kids and I enjoy it. She has said something very similar to the hurricane comment in the OP.

If you hate it that much, you're in the wrong state of mind and a miserable person, tbh.

That's quite a broad generalization. Perhaps there are people in the world who feel differently about things than you do. And maybe that's okay.
You have to make some generalizations, don't you? It's like hating ice cream...generally, you're nuts if you hate ice cream...but I could see exceptions (health concerns, allergies, etc).

Disney is the same way. You may not "love" it or even like it, but absolutely hate it as if it's torture? Get real...

There are plenty of reasons to hate WDW as is evidenced by the number of people who do. As someone who has a reputation for loving the place, I am frequently approached by people who want to tell me in exacting detail why I am wrong to do so. It's hot, it's crowded, it's too expensive, the lines are too long, the food is terrible, it's for kids, etc, etc, etc. Some of the reasons I am given carry more weight with me than others. But who am I to disagree with opinion. I enjoy theme parks. Lots of people don't. Both are equally valid points of view.

My wife considers it torture and she likes it more than a lot of other members of my family.

All reasons either untrue, avoidable bc you're doing it wrong, or just facts no fault of Disney (hot in July).

I can solve all of those problems for people who will take the time to listen, but they never do because they've been once on July 4th and ate at the Lunching Pad and Pop Century food court. I group those people into a single category: miserable know-it-alls.

I suppose if my husband or children hated Disney we wouldn't be going. I guess I'm lucky we all love it! I wouldn't even want to go with someone that hated it (like my brother) because they would be downers.

I can't tell if you are kidding or not. I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you have been pulling my leg.

Warning, if you're easily offended by a rant, just don't read this post. I'm not singling anyone out, just addressing a mentality.

1) Disney is not expensive...it's on par with many travel destinations (actually way cheaper in many respects), includes a lot for your money, and prices increase for everything over time.

1a) Expensive is relative. Sitting at home can be declared expensive if you're stubborn enough, cheap enough, or dumb enough with your finances.

2) It's not "too hot" at Disney unless you refuse to plan during a time when the weather is more temperate. Even the "hot times" have plenty of options to stay cooler: Get in shape, do more inside the many air conditioned buildings, go to a Disney water park, or go during a different month. If it's hot at Disney, it's probably hot in your dump of a city.

3) The food is not terrible. Spend a little money and go to Ohana, Le Cellier, Teppan Edo, Be Our Guest, Chef Mickey's, etc and tell me the food is "terrible" with a straight face. Give me a break...these are the same people that think McDonalds serve great hamburgers and Chik-Fil-A has amazing chicken.

4) The lines aren't long if you use the tools provided and don't try to ride every E-Ticket at 3pm on a Saturday. Do some planning, do some research, and do some alternative entertainment available.

5) It's for kids. Ice cream is for kids too...stop eating that.

See what I just did there?

Let me be the first to thank you for telling the rest of the world how we should feel about things. Now we can stop having opinions of our own. You have made the world a simpler and more monochromatic place.
