Do you ever notice how .... ?

Do you ever notice how people that go to Disney all the time (ie. over once per year) are the ones who are most apt to complain about the state of the park? Not to say that they aren't other moaners out there, but I'd have to say that's the most common demographic for complaints.

I guess that seems kind of obvious, but I began to think about it when I saw all of the negativity about Disney of not doing this or that, not having enough new attractions, etc etc. I went to WDW in Feb and hadn't been for a few years, and out of the 15 or 16 times I've been in my life I think I had the best time I've ever had. Granted, I did get engaged .. :) But anyway, as I've gotten older I've begun to appreciate different things about it, especially Epcot and having a beer in each pavilion .. but I digress

Anyway, what I'm saying is that WDW is not a park that is always changing .. if it changed too often people that don't go so much would quite often miss out on tons of stuff. I think you have to come to terms with that fact they are on a 2-3 year cycle of rides and what not. They can't have something new every month

Who's with me? Long live Disney

First off conratulations on getting engaged. I popped the question on my wife also there at MK.

I don't post to much but I can see where people who you say complain come from. I think people who "complain" are not saying they hate the park... but actually love the park and want to see the park do it's best. We all have this perfect picture of what WDW should be. And when we go every year and see something not right it upsets some people because it doesn't fit into there memory of the park. I understand that and somewhat agree. I for on love to see the park change pavilions and rides. Adds new flavor and keeps things fresh.

I believe Walt would have wanted it that way.

That just my 2 cents

Is this just what you assume to be the case or do you actually have data to back this up? I ask because you sound as though you are speaking from authority on the topic (i.e. "that's the most common demographic"). How do you know if is the most common demographic? Or does it just SEEM like it is the most common? Just curious.

In response to your question, though, it would stand to reason. But I certainly haven't seen any proof.

Well actually Chapps, he is correct any way he wants to phrase it. There are alot of people who come on here ing and moaning about the parks. But it's usually constructive critism. Most of the people who go yearly are more in tune of how the park looks and can spot flaws much easier than people who don't go very often.

(I think it is clear it is his opinion since he says "I'd have to say....." :) )

Anyway, I would definetely agree with him. It seems that only those who have the opportunity to visit the parks frequently are able to really critique it and find what some call "flaws". I mean when we begin noticing some paint is chipped on the side of a building on Main Street, we know we've been there too much  :D

Well, when you think about it, they probably notice more things because they're there so frequently. If you visit once every 2 months versus once every 2 years, you're bound to remember more details, because they are fresh in your memory. Those who visit less frequently probably don't remember those details.

Those of us who visit frequently also have memories of how things used to be and miss, i.e. when the MK was open until 1:00 AM (my very first visit in July of 1980). We also remember with great fondness attractions that have been removed, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride (the best of the dark rides IMHO). Change for the sake of progress is good, change for the sake of change sucks. Thank goodness you can still see Mr. Toad and friends in Cailifornia. I am lucky enough to take 2 vacations a year. One to WDW (for the eternal child in me) and one to Las Vegas (for the adult in me). Sorry, I got off topic there.
