Do some people take it for granted?

Well I did the college program at WDW for 8 months and didn't get tired of going so I don't think I would get tired of it. It just changes the experience. Its magical in a different way knowing that you can go for a couple hours to watch a parade or spend a few hours just to eat and enjoy the atmosphere. Like other people have pointed out, you get to slow down and experience all the hidden gems in the park.

I feel like I would go atleast once a month, just for dinner or to enjoy the atmosphere!
When I am in college (only one and a half years away) I plan on doing the college internship there, so I could get back to you with the going every day.

I live in Northern California and I love every trip I make. I know a lot of people who live in the area of DL go all the time and never seem to tire of it. I am not a fan of Los Angeles so I would not want to move there for a job even if it was at DL.

Disneyland, no. Disney World. Yes. I seriously think that if they would grant me the permits, I would build a house inside one of the parks. I would never get tired of it.

Disneyland isn't in Los Angeles County.

I would love to live near Disney World... not so sure about Disneyland but I have never been. Although the excitement of going when you live over 4000 miles away I am sure can not be beat by visiting from close by, but it would be so much cheaper!

When I loved in Tampa we went a couple times a couple times a year but I think I get way more excited now that I don't get to go as often. Its the same with the beach, I barely ever went to the beach. Now I go to the beach every time I'm near one.

OK - I was born & raised in CA... and I'll give you a warning.

Unless the pay for that job is about 30% higher than other offers? I would turn it down. Oh, you'll get PAID more - but your taxes & home costs will eat it up - and then some, unless you get a real pay premium. Always consider what it would cost you to just fly somewhere, as opposed to LIVING there.
Exactly. Florida & California are two states that are paradise to visit on vacation, but you couldn't pay me enough to pack-up and live there.

Yeah, California is definitely not for everyone. It has got its problems but I myself can't imagine living anywhere else. I don't think I'd ever leave, unless I had to.

It's not...but mean, if there were no traffic (LOL) you could get from DL to downtown LA in about 35 minutes (actual takes an hour+). For myself, I could never ever see myself wanting to move to LA. Even flying into LA grosses me out, seeing the smog layer across the Valley. And it's true not everywhere in Cali is super expensive but even in those areas, it's often more expensive relative to the rest of the country except maybe NY. But I'm glad you like living there...I really do love the state :) (my fav city is San Francisco) ...just not to live in. Which comes back to my first point to the original OP...please don't just go so you can go to DL. Research everything about Cali in general before you make a decision. You don't want to to hate the place you end up living in.

EDIT: Has anyone ever googled DL on maps? It looks so tiny. I mean I know it is good sized but still just looks so tiny compared to Los Angeles proper

Very true. It takes me 30-45 minutes to get to Disneyland from my house in LA. One time it took us 20 minutes. I still don't know how that happened lol. Yeah the smog can mess up some of the beautiful views out here sometimes. I hate that. And true on the price thing. What's cheap to me (200k-400k) may be expensive for others. I LOVE Frisco. I've only visted once but I'm dying to go back. I really liked New York when I visited but I definitely wouldn't move there. I agree, the OP needs to do some serious research before moving anywhere, let alone California. Moving here for Disneyland is a bad idea in my opinion. Hopefully they contact me or some of the other California residents here for help first!

My mom and I did a trip there after my freshman year of college and I would absolutely love to go back. We loved the variety of food there, and there is just so much to see and do. :) Though those damn hills nearly killed us a time or too...our feet/legs were revolting against us so much ;), at one point we got a cab to take us from the bottom of a hill to the top of a hill. LOL. We also visited Yosemite that trip and Muir Woods. I am big into the National Parks so I adored doing that too. As much as I love Disney, nature is amazing! My fav vacation all time was going out west and doing Yellowstone/Grand Tetons/Bad Lands. :) And haha, yeah, no NY for me either. I liked it but no way I would live there.

Sorry that was a random tandom ;). I hope the original OP contacts you as well.

Tell me about it! I love the variety of food too, and I loved the piers. So beautiful! I went for a college trip in the eighth grade. We visited UC Berkely, which I loved. I was terrified of those hills! Thank God we only went up one the entire time we were there lol! LMAO, we totally did that one time! We were at City Walk in Hollywood. I don't know if you're aware of this but Universal Studios Hollywood/City Walk is in the mountains. Anyways, we didn't feel like waiting for the tram and we didn't want to walk down the hill so we took a cab. Sounds like you've done more than me. I've yet to visit any of the national parks:( I love nature as well! That's why I hate it when people come and visit Disneyland for ten whole days and don't bother visiting other other places within that time frame.

No need to apoplogize. I'm sitting here, bored at home wishing I was at the Disneyland Resort right now:(

I grew up in Orlando (our 1st trip was for wdw 1st anniversary and were there when epcot 1st opened etc...and we did single day trips on average 1-2 times a year but money was tight so there were years we didn't go at all but of course also did things like grad night etc... When I lived in Southern California (for 3 years) I actually never made it to DL...I had very young kids and was in college and working so we would have liked to go but couldn't afford it. Since we've been back in FL (living just a little under 2.5hrs north of wdw) we're pass holders and go all the time with and without young kids. In the past year we've been there maybe 8 or 9 times. Twice for a week, a few times for things like 2 days here and there during F&W, 1 day we did MNSSHP, we've met up with out of town family members for 1-3 days several times (much easier than entertaining them in our little town where the streets roll up by dark), and sometimes just for the fun of picking up my granddaughter from school on a Friday and saying surprise lets go do disney and staying through Sunday so she can be back in class Monday morning. Only you can figure out how often you might go...as a FL resident a seasonal pass (the kind with blackout dates) is paid for once you've done 7 park days so why not was my question...and we've certainly used it more than we thought we would.

If you ever get a chance to, definitely take it! Usually we fly places but that trip by dad rented a bigger van (we had a mini van but he got a van that was fairly decked out) and we drove...was totally worth it just to see the landscape. Started through South Dakota and did the Bad Lands as well as some of their gorgeous state parks. Then it was through to Wyoming where we did Yellowstone (so darn beautiful and the animals in the wild were so cool to see) and then a few more days in the Grand Tetons, where we stayed at a ski lodge in Jacksonville, Wyoming (ski lodges are much less expensive in the summer lol). We did white water rafting, hiking, and fishing and bunch of other things that we'd never tried before. We were a little out of our element but that was half the fun :) Best vacation of my life. Made me appreciate our country's beauty so much more. And Yosemite is gorgeous too. Such awesome waterfalls. My next goal is to see some of the parks in the south/southwest of the U.S.

I'm a big encourager of people trying new things too. Visiting DL or WDW is great but there is so much more each state offers too. Not that focusing only on WDW is bad. But if you've been so many times without trying something new...I don't know...I'd just like to get out and see the world! I'd love to visit all the countries in World Showcase for real someday. I've only been to the UK/London and then also had a very brief stop in Germany on the way to Spain (which I think would be a great addition to WSC).

You're making me very jealous. I would love to go across the US and check out nature like that. I hate you lol. One of these days I'm going to do it. Just get out and go. That's the kind of person I am. I love to go to different places and travel. If I had a lot of money and a car my family wouldn't see much of me.

Tell me about it. I love love love Disney but there's more to life than going to Disneyland or WDW all the time. I'd like to visit each continent. I have to make that happen before I die.

My mom grew up just a few minutes from Disneyland, and she's always told me how she went into the park all the time. Her & her friends would go in and just walk around. She says that no matter how often she was there, it always still felt magical walking down Main Street. I like to think that it would be the same way for me, if I lived closeby. :)

I hope you get too. :) Though Antarctica would probably be a little too cold for me ;) Sorry, just teasing. That sees like a pretty cool goal to have. I've only been to Europe. And i have that desire too sometimes...would love to just get out and go. My dad a did coast to coast trip when he was young and one from north to south too. I've always wished to do that...I wish things weren't so darn expensive these days. Including Disney. LOL.
