Do Rides Closed for Refurbished Ever Re-open Early

Believe it or not, my family is trying to convince me to push back our trip to Disney World two weeks for when the Haunted Mansion is scheduled to re-open. My question is:
How accurate are the estimated dates of when rides are closed for refurbishment?
Do they often re-open earlier?
Thank you!

Rides generally always close on the date they are scheduled for rehab. However, the re-opening is another story, sometimes there are delays and the ride doesn't open for a few days or week later.

I hope that the HM is open again when it is rescheduled - 9/13/07.
I think they want it to be open for the 1st MNSSHP on 9/14/07.
I really want to ride it on our trip in Sept.!
We are already gonna miss SSE:cry:
Last year we missed POTC due to the refurb:( ...my kids are really looking forward to riding it this year.
Also, the Liberty Belle Riverboat at the MK was closed for a refurb last summer, so we missed that too.

Yes, MNSSHP kinda entails the Haunted Mansion. Refurbishments rarely open early. The only instance of an early opening I have encountered was a year ago, Dumbo opened for the last 4 hours of the day before it was scheduled to open.

2 weeks seems a bit far out. Even if the ride is compleated earlier than scheduled, the Imagineers love to take extra time to add extra touches, before the "turnover" date rolls around.
