Do I need two days for Islands of Adventure?

I'm going (with a family of four) two Universal Studios. It seems that Islands of Adventure is move suited for us because it's more action packed and things. Also, I'm a die hard fan of Harry Potter and I don't want to be rushed at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I'm thinking I want to spend a whole day there and then the next day walking around the rest of Islands of Adventure.

As much as I love the Wizarding World, you'll be hard pressed to spend an entire day there. Half a day, maybe. But not a whole one.

Personally, if you're looking to spend 2 days at the resort, spend one and a half at IoA, and spend the other half a day checking out the highlights of Universal Studios Florida. USF has many rides that aren't to be missed, and a brand new nighttime spectacular that's really great.

Thanks

Thanks. I'm just afraid of being rushed at WWoHP! We have a sixteen and eleven year old so the sixteen year old will want to ride the rides while the eleven year old....well, do they hav things there for eleven year old? She doesn't like Disney World so that's why we're not going there. She likes Harry Potter a little but I"m sure she'll love once she gets there.

Unless you sat on a bench for about 6 hours, you wouldn't be able to spend an entire day in the wizarding world. The visuals are great, but it's still only 3 attractions with some shops and a quick serve restaurant.

Is your 11 year old a thrill seeker? Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios have some nice thrill rides. Incredible Hulk Coaster, 2 great coasters in Dragon Challenge, Dudley Do Right's Ripsaw Falls, Jurassic Park River Adventure, Rip Ride Rockit, Revenge of the Mummy, etc.

Also, while not what I consider "Thrill Rides", Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and Spider-man are two of the best rides anywhere.

My husband and I did everything that we wanted to at IOA two weeks ago in less than a full day. That included 6 rides on the Dragon Challenge and 2 rides on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. I'll echo what many others have said, you will not spend a lot of time in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. There just isn't a whole lot to see at the moment. The shops are small and very crowded. It is still neat to visit, but we didn't spend too much time there. If you plan on going to Ollivanders do that first thing in the morning. Even at park opening the line was long and it just got progressively longer as the day went on.

You should get a 2 day with park to park access ticket.

Spending a whole day or even half the day would be like spending half the day in JUST Adventureland.

We did everything in IOA is half a day. And came back that night and rode everything again. Don't buy the extra ticket. There just aren't that many rides.

It simply depends on the crowds and the pace of the individual.

For example, there are some nights during HHN when a guest could see all of the haunted houses (without an Express Pass). There are other nights when a guest would be lucky to see half of them. It just depends on the crowds.

If youre going anytime this summer, you'll need a full day easily to get through IOA. I was there on Thursday and all day the waits were 60-120 minutes.

How did you manage that?
What time of year was it?
Did you do anything at the rest of the park?

Remember guys... MaroonFlyer is asking if she needs 2 days at IOA... 1 day JUST for the WWOHP and the 2nd day for the rest of IOA.

I do not care how much detail you want to see. There is no way you can spen 1 FULL day at the WWOHP.

1 FULL day at IOA is MORE then you will need.

So I would say buy a 2 day ticket and spend one day at each park. I would really say buy a 2 day "park to park" ticket so you can do both parks each day. (You will want to)

If you get to the park early, you can see everything you want to see at IOA and more in one day. The Universal parks, to me, seem much less crowded in the early mornings than the Disney parks.

We went last June and got there at opening. DD9 is a Potter nut so we headed straight to WWoHP expecting to be there most of the day and had done and seen eveything (bar Ollivanders, too crowded) by noon.

We had lunch, hit most other rides (YOU WILL GET WET) and went back to our faves for a 2nd or 3rd go and were still done by about 6pm. One day should definitely suffice.

Granted, it's been a few years, but I agree with this, we went Christmas Day or Eve, I think, and this was pre-WWOHP, but we were able to finish the entirety of USF in under 4 hours, with the exception of Terminator, because we had lunch scheduled for Margaritaville. And that includes about 4 or 5 times or maybe more, on The Mummy.

It was Tuesday, May 8. We hit Forbidden Journey 1st thing that morning followed by 2 rides on the Dragon Challenge. The only major ride that we didn't do was Jurassic Park. In fact, we did all but 4 rides (2 in the Dr. Seuss area and including Jurassic Park) the entire day. If done well the park is very easy to do in one day.
