DLRP Wishes - any filming tips?

I'll be nipping over to DLRP for a couple of days from July 17th and had a couple of questions.
Sadly i'll be helping look after 4 kids, so not so much free roaming fun for me.

Where is your favourite place to film Fantillusion? for good shots, clear audio?
We'll only get to see wishes twice, and seeing as this is one of my Fav WDW shows ever, I REALLY want to capture it well on film, any tips?

cheers.

We`re doing the same (from the 18th) - remember to wave!

I`ve asked around, and Fantillusion I`ve been told does the most show stops and transformations in the hub - and the castle lighting changes quite dramatically too during the stops so try to have in the background)

For Wishes on 2 nights I`d go for the end of Main Street at the start of the hub on the first - just keep it a steady wide shot. On the 2nd night same position, but have the castle bigger in frame for the lighting effects, zoom out for medium shots with the in park pyro launches, and you can also zoom in on Tink on the 2nd night too.

Just remember to use manual focus and manual exposure!

Any other tips (especially for Fantillusion) would be appreciated!

argh! figures! we're both gonna be there, we should meet up for a drink, but sadly it's less of a holiday for me this time and more of a child moniitoring gig *sigh*

thanks for the tips, I was thinking maybe shots from the train station would be a good idea, catching both the hub, main street and the castle, for both shows, and then getting close ups from down low the second night, i'm just worried about crowd control, it seems the week of the 16th is going to be a realllllyyyy busy one, and i've had so many people simply wander out and stand infront of my camera after i've hung around for the perfect spot!

P.S. - any word on any edits on wishes? language and show wise?
I'm hoping it's a directy port, 1 because I love the WDW version and 2 because I have almost memorised the show and it would make catching it on film so much easier.

At least your kids want to see DLP - Michelle is dragging me on the RER for a day in Paris. On the condition we are back for dusk!

I`d go for the train station, but you have to be there early - I think there is room for 16 people with a perfect view. Plus the MSUSA buildings may obscure some of the Fantasyland launches. There again, I`m lucky enough to have a wide angle lens to attatch so I can be in the hub and still (hopefully) get it all.

For FITS in Florida and Paris (and also ToN) I`ve just set the camera up beforehand (focus & exposure) and held it at arms length above peoples heads - a great static shot, using the LCD tilted down to check on it. Take a bit of practice beforehand to be happy with the exposure but it gets round the problem of back of heads we`ve both had.

I have heard a rumour the Villans section won`t be in Paris - IMHO the best section - but I`ve talked to locals who havn`t heard this so I hope they`re right. I have also watched enough vid from WDW to know what comes next, and I believe it is a straight port with just a few french bits (mainly the American Jimminy.) They have been testing since March apparently, and the Fantasyland roofs look like they have the full compliment of mortor tubes :)

One interesting thing - new wires have replaced the FITS Tink ones, and no one is quite sure why. They seem to go left to right behind the castle, as opposed from it. I`m not getting my hopes up with a Remember style rig but...

Can`t wait to see the show with the projections and colour schemes on Paris` castle!

oh they're not my kids! Family, yes, but I lay claim to none of them lol
I guess the train station is out then, I wouldn't mind, but I don't see 4 kids waiting around for hours *sigh*
A wide angle lens is something I decided to invest in when we went to WDW in December and I gotta say, a great investment, as long as you're careful not to record reflection.
I have to say I am really excited by seeing Wishes over the castle, Paris has my favourite castle :D
A "Remember" Tink would be amazing asnd truly add something to Wishes, even if nothing changed I think I would prefer Tink heading up to the castle to start the fireworks, rather than her speedy escape from the castle in WDW.

I would expect quite an elaborate Tink performance. Last years was most impressive.

Oh Steve, don`t tease! Do tell us more....

Please?

The Tink from last years Summer fireworks was pretty spectacular and a very impressive beginning to the show. She made several trips from the castle, over to the roof of the Aladdin attraction, then back UP to the castle, then over to the Pooh stage area, then back up to the castle. It was pretty cool to see her go UP the wire, rather than just down. There were also lots of pyro effects on the wire. Initially she was presented as pixie dust, and ultimately became the full size Tink.

so which Tink was better? last year's DLRP Tink? or This years Remember Tink?

from what i hear..... DLP > Remember

Here`s hoping...

arcsbite - whilst I remember - look in my photo album. There`s a photo of Michelle and myself (with two Mice I`m afraid) - just incase you see us. Normally I have a camcorder up to my face and Michelle is either 2 steps behind or 5 steps infront since I`ve stopped to record something.....

Apparantly Wishes is going to be very different from the Florida version! Probably less fireworks and more lasers and projections. Apparantly a huge Jimminy is going to be projected onto the castle and also a huge magical lamp! Music is the same however.

Fantillusion is amazing you are going to love it! Central plaza is the best place to be! If you want to see Maleficent transform into the dragon stand opposite the castle. Here you'll also see Mickey's float stop and the Snow White royal ball show mode also. The central plaza (hub) is the only place where you can see three parade stops! The castle does change colour so also make sure you get this into your footage.

The Wonderful World of Disney parade has also returned to Disneyland Park too and runs at 7.00pm during the summer season. Fantillusion starts at 10.30pm with Wishes 11.15pm. The Disney Cinema Parade at the Studios is on at 4:45pm (Summer Season).

Hope this is useful,
Martin.

WWOD parade at 7pm? That sounds great! Last time it was 3pm; it should look great in the evening! These are going to be long days too - in the park at 8am for a charecter breakfast, Wishes finishing around 11.30pm. Can`t wait! 12 days left... :D

Yeah it's really wierd seeing a daytime parade at 7pm but it's what happens! It's so that the same cast can perform the Cinema Parade, WWODP and Fantillusion! It's suprisingly light in paris at 7pm still like the daytime minus the very hot sun which is quite low in the sky, because of this don't stand to the right of Main Street or the sun will ruin you filming the parade!

Martin.

Martin,

Interesting! I may try to shoot it one night from the left of the hub so it`s lit by the setting sun.... ooohhh!!!
