I should note that I actually love the family plot on the berm in Haunted Mansion's extended queue sans the two new tributes all the way to the left. Yes, I love something new (sort of). I love something Disney did, people. However, it is not without its inane drawbacks typical of modern Disney, such as the enormous railings blocking your view. What the?
I'll use this post to switch out my avatar to something that suits me more than a cute cartoon pig.
This picture of the Practical Pig costumed cast member is from 1961. My father-in-law worked at Disneyland 1959 - 1961, starting at the Autopia, but moving into the pig costume due to his fireplug physique. So, while I have no idea who is in the costume in this picture, there is a remote possibility that it is him.
He had at least one encounter with Walt at the Autopia. As I've heard it anyway, he noticed a man stepping out onto the Autopia track to take a photo of a girl. He asked the man to please return to the line. It was Walt, taking a photo of his granddaughter. Walt was amused, and after letting My F-I-L know who he was, commended him on his job performance.
This picture is so awesome. I never got to see the Peoplemover operating there, and I think the leftover track is such an eyesore now. I would love to see something happen with that, but that is unlikely to happen.
I use to ride the people mover all the time. It was never a wait and you got a nice rest and got to see the rest of the park. Modern audiences would think it was boring and just another ride to check off. To me it was much more.
