DLR on Mother's Day?

Hey Y'all

Just had my first (of many) trip to DL & DCA! It was FANTASTIC! I recently moved to SoCal, and we bought Annual Passes, so I can go pretty much anytime I can make my way to Anaheim.

My Lady's mother & sister are coming for a visit and they want to go to DL for Mother's Day or the Monday after Mother's Day.

My impulse is to say Monday would be better because more people have off on Sunday?

But traffic Sunday morning to DL will be way better than Monday AM work commute! We're coming from the Valley, so no traffic = 45 min, traffic = 1.5 hours.

what is the consensus here?

If you go on Monday, there's a big chance the fireworks and Fantasmic! won't be showing. Does your family care about those things?

Shhh. Don't tell any one. Mother's Day and Father's Day tend to be uncrowded at the park, at least compared to normally busy Sundays. That has been my experience and a couple of CMs commented the same thing when I asked why the park was so empty.

Sunday will be busier than Monday, but that Sunday in particular is not very busy as Sunday's go. Got that?

But what you also miss by going on Monday instead of Mother's Day is the complimentary carnations with lapel pins that they pass out to all the mothers and mothers-to-be just inside the main entrance of Disneyland. It's a very cute thing that Disneyland has been doing for decades on Mother's Day!

@raven24, would you please help me understand? I've been trying to search for this exact issue, but I'm obviously not using the right search terms to find the reason. If DLR close at 10 during the week, why do they not host Fantasmic! or fireworks? I'm trying to make a case for a (first trip to) California Spring Break trip next March, and the options are a probably insane Sunday with F! and fireworks or possibly less insane weekdays without. Thank you!

Fantasmic! and the fireworks are only displayed everyday during specific times of the year, and this isn't one of those times. They're only displayed everyday during peak seasons, like the summer and the holidays.
