Good to see all of the regular maintenance and refurbishment continuing all over the park, well after the 50th. The park still looks fantastic, and they are clearly working hard to keep it that way.

If this kind of list were to be released for the Magic Kingdom, there would be a huge uproar about how people will have "their vacations ruined!" and that refurbishment and maintenance can't be completed lest a tourist from Ohio misses out on any one attraction.

And then there's the massive Billion Dollar makeover starting this fall at DCA. :sohappy:

Although it would be nice if they would give more advance notice of when things are going to be closed... I'm guessing that 99% of the time they know a year in advance what the schedule is going to be. At the very least it would be nice to have a 6 month notice on what is going to be closed.

When do they start the makeover? I know you said Fall but my question is moreso what they are doing first and when...Octoberish time?

I hope the POTC refurb is short, otherwise my November vacation will be ruined!!!! :ROFLOL:...... I am somewhat serious when I say that though... since I'm a Floridian who only gets out to Cali once a year if I'm lucky.

You're not the only one... Our October trip is now cancelled due to the POTC and it being the kids favorite ride... I only wish we knew how long it was going to be closed, as it stands we might now consider a December trip... otherwise it looks like we will be forced to go back to Disneyworld instead.

The parks need the refurbs badly I have never been to a Disney park where so many rides where shut down for periods for technical difficulties.

IJA, Splash Mountain, GRR, POTC, Matterhorn, Peter Pan

All in just two days! POTC and IJA were shut down for one most of one day after being open for the morning.

I agree, the greatest part is for me is when they repaint a building and it hardly looks like it needs it. Like the buildings to the right of Disney Showcase and Disney Clothiers this past spring.

Also Im always very happy to see Fantasmic getting new stuff after every refurb. Hmm isnt it HD projecters this time?

I wouldnt say they need refurbs badly, all rides have some diffuculties through out the day. I was just there for 5 days 2 weeks ago and the only one I encountered was Screamin at opening. It really just works out on luck when they go down or not. :)

Plus the DLR attractions are kept in pretty perfect shape ever since the 50th started in terms of AAs, lighting and such.

Y'all beat me to it in both threads...

DL has the best kept attractions...much better than MK, that's for sure!

Rides go down all the time. There's nothing we can do about it. Nothing's perfect...

I for one am glad to see these rides go down for a refurb. It keeps them in the wonderful condition they're in.

Geez I'm starting to sound like the usual whiny WDW visitor. I guess it's in my blood since I'm from Florida.

I think I'm turning into one too now that I'm going off to college.

I have to admit, I got very happy when I saw Pirates was going to be up again for Thanksgiving. :lookaroun:o:lol:

But no Fantasmic?!? That's unacceptable. They aren't allowed to shut that down during MY trip!! :fork:

:lookaroun

OMG Fantasmic is down for a long time! What's going on?

And yay! Pirates will open when I come back from college!

Its rumored to get new HD projectors almost the same type World of Color will get once it opens. I think. I love when Fantasmic comes back from refurbs now we always get a nice surprise kinda like when Haunted Manision got new stuff for and after the holidays. Seems like a while though for something that would be an "easy" redo but Columbia is down too.

Speaking of Fantasmic! looks like everyone will get the characters on the island and not on the Mark Twain for a few days. Its such a funny site to not see them on the Mark Twain.

That long for some projectors? To me it'd seem like they could get those up fast. Guess I'm wrong... But anyway, thanks for the answer.

Heh, I don't like the characters on the island. It's cheesy.

^lol I agree about the cheesy thing... I wish they would bring back the Ursula barge :(

This fall is going to be a busy one for DLR fansites with so much going on. It maybe offseason but it seems to be every Disney fans favorite season for refurb pics, and HalloweenTime and Christmas pics. haha

Have you seen Al's new update? it sounds very promissing!
http://miceage.micechat.com/allutz/al080508f.htm (much more at the link)
So now, illuminated Flotsam and Jetsam characters that are 7 feet tall and 33 feet long will be mounted on jet ski's, while two hidden drivers zip them around the river near the audience during Ursula's big scene. It should punch up that segment of the show that has been lacking something ever since the Ursula float was removed several years ago.

So apparently Fantasmic! will be playing nightly in the winter to offset there being no parade while Main Street finale gets repaved. Sounds to me like a good trade off no parade but Fantasmic! with light crowds in the offseason= great seats with little wait and a nicely repaved Main Street.
