DLR Character Meet & Greets

Now I understand that DLR character M&G are completely different that WDW. Still low key, not necessarily going to encounter queues, more interaction etc. Do they typically have photopass photographers? Or just the ones that have a set location like Mickey in his house. Sadly character info for DLR seems to be a non existent thing especially compared to the abundance of info for WDW. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Some characters do not have photographers (Alice and friends, Mary Poppins, the "roamers" who aren't tied to a location). Princesses will be in an organized queue situation, and the Fab Five appear in Town Square all day and informal lines are formed. The Pooh characters in Critter Country also have a formal queue and setup. There are very few indoor character locations, unlike Florida.

Basically, your assumption is correct - there are a lot more informal meet-n-greets at DLR than WDW, so only count on Photopass to be with the biggies and in formal locations (Pixie Hollow and Tangles are other examples). If you have any more specific questions, fire away.

You won't find any kind of character m&g, or major dining info or any other info like that on the Disneyland website. It's not a huge resort like WDW that takes a lot of planning to do, and the huge differences make all that unnecessary. I bet a day at DLR would still go smoothly, without planning.

To answer your question, the areas specifically set up for m&gs, like Pixie Hollow, Tangled, the homes in Toontown and Fantasy Faire will have Photopass. If it's not an actual set up m&g, there are no Photopass CMs around. Besides those at the m&gs, all the characters at both Disneyland and California Adventure roam their areas by themselves, with no character handlers. The guests form their own lines and usually you can get another guest to take the picture for you.

That's more what I was trying to figure out. If I will be having to pass my SLR off to a random person, or a character host. Thanks

Any recommendations on places/times when it's easier to find characters? I'm looking to be pleasantly surprised by stumbling into some, but if my odds are much greater by wandering around Buena Vista Street for a bit longer than what is left of the Hollywood Back Lot, then I'll enjoy the scenery there.

Not a problem! Good idea, I'd probably save the SLR too. As for recommendations, Alice and Hatter are ALWAYS out. They always walk by the Alice in Wonderland attraction and they also host musical chairs at 2:30 on Main Street. Peter Pan is always climbing on different objects in Fantasyland and Main Street. He runs around the park. Pocahontas can be found in Frontierland, by the gun shooting range. Winnie the Pooh and his friends are always in Critter Country, right by the Winnie the Pooh attraction. Almost everyone is on Main Street, including Mickey and the gang, Pinocchio and Geppetto, Chip n' Dale, etc. Tiana and Naveen are of course in New Orleans Square, and Mary Poppins and Bert are always out too and they host a show in front of Aurora's castle. You'll have fun with everyone, since there are no character handlers! Don't forget to check out the Jamboree show at Big Thunder Ranch with Mickey and everyone else!

I believe you can stop by City Hall or Chamber of Commerce and they'll have a schedule of characters for the day and where they will be meeting. The DL and DCA times guides hardly list any characters besides the main places for meet and greets, Mickey and Minnie's Houses, Princess Fantasy Faire, Brave, Pixie Hollow, Rapunzel, Pooh, and DCA only Buena Vista Streets is listed.

Not a complete list but from memory and recent sightings.

Main Street's Town Square usually has a good variety and usually reappear after fireworks. Mickey and Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Chip and Dale, Mary and Bert, Queen of Hearts, Cruella, Foulfellow and Gideon, Pinocchio and Gepetto.

Mickey Floral, is usually Alice and Hatter with a mix of characters. Sometimes they are doing the show with the Disneyland Band.

Coke Corner when they do the musical chairs thing Alice, Hatter, Dee, Dum, Peter Pan, and random villain.

Castle(it might be different now that the construction is going on) Peter Pan, random Princess, Suzy and Perla, Mary and Bert and the Pearly band(more a show than a meet and greet)

Aladdin's Oasis, Aladdin, Jasmine and Genie(usually there is no line as the area is very secluded)

Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree is a great place to get a lot of characters with little to no wait but they are kinda random(Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, Goofy, Pluto, Carabelle, Horace Horsecollar, Clara Cluck, and the Country Bears.

Tomorrowland, you can sometimes catch a pair of Stormtroopers walking around near Star Tours to Space, kinda doing meet and greets but really just "patrolling"

Buena Vista Street, Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale, and Goofy. They usually have a photopass CM with them.

Hollywood Land, Handy Manny, Jake, Mr. Incredible, Mrs. Incredible, Frozone, Sulley, I've also seen Stitch.

Condor Flats, Avatior Minnie. Photopass

Paradise Pier, Duffy, Sailor Donald, Woody, Buzz, Jessie, I think all have photopass.

Cars Land, Red, Lighting Mc Queen, and Mater. Lighting and Mater rotate. Red usually has a minimal line he's off near the walkway to bugs land. All 3 have photopass.

Dancin' with Disney at least for the summer has a great set of characters to dance with but not really to get photos with. There are two sets of rare characters
Villians- Queen of Hearts, Captain Hook, Smee, Big Bad Wolf, King John, Sheriff of Nottingham Cruella, and Jarfar.
Disney Ladies- Clara Cluck, Lilo, Clarice, Carabelle, Anastasia, Drizella, Marie, and Daisy.

Dancin With Disney was also the only time Marie has ever been seen at Disneyland

I met Kylo Ren. It was really weird. He's like a psychopathic murderer, so why does Disney have a meet and greet with that guy? There were a bunch of old ladies in wheelchairs in front of me. I'm not sure they knew what they were in line for!
