Thanks for the insider tips, Bolna! With only a half day in most cities, we know we are going to miss a lot.
Weisses-Brauhaus sounds great! I've added it to our itinerary. We're staying in Heidelberg the night before and plan to spend the morning at the castle, then drive down to Munich. According to e-Distance, it's 337 km and will take about 3:11 of drive time. So, we expect to roll into Munich in the late afternoon / early evening. Many sites, including the Deutsches Museum, will unfortunately be closed. The Englischer Garten sounded interesting, and with the many hours of daylight in July, seemed like a good fit for an evening bike tour. Viktualienmarkt and Gartnerplatz look like short walks/bike rides away from the restaurant and the bike rental shop. It would be cool to see the university, too, which is very close to where we'd be entering the park. We may end up biking more in downtown than in the park, which is fine. Thank you (and I wish we had another day in Munich)!!
As you figured, our trip to Fussen is to visit the castles. With our short time frame, I can't afford the time to wait in lines, so I will make sure to buy tickets beforehand! If you had the choice of touring the inside of Neuschwanstein or Hohenschwangau, it sounds like you would recommend Hohenschwangau. If we were to do that, would we still be able to walk around the outside of Neuschwanstein?
