Well as a WDW veteran I am prepared to go to Disneyland this summer. It will be the weekend of Labour Day and hopefully a 9 day stay at the Howard Johnson. I figure going to Disneyland/DCA for three days is sufficient. I plan on going to DL the day AFTER Labour day since by my estimation that might be one of the lightest days attendance-wise of the year.
Heck, I want to see it for once. I love WDW to pieces and there are things that I don't think DL will ever replace but I want to compare the two. I want to see the differences. I am not the type that gets disapointed easily so even if DL has more charm and a "magical" feel that I have been told I still think I will always love WDW the same regardless. Pirates is arguably my favourite ride in the world and I have only done the WDW version so I don't think I'll ever look back at the WDW version and think its "crap" even after the DL version.
I get the feeling there are things I will miss at DL. I'll miss COP, Country Bears, Hall of Presidents, the bigger castle, the sheer size of the place and perhaps even the entry points (riding the ferry. etc.) But I'll bet that after a trip to DL I'll miss things on my next trip to WDW. Mr. Toad, Indiana Jones, Snow White, Matterhorn, etc., not to mention what I am told is the charm and more of a Disney "feel" to it. I think if anything it might make me appreciate both parks even more. Like comparing a Porsche to a Corvette. So I am excited and I personally never get tired of these types of threads.
