Quick question....I've been to WDW 10 times since 1976 (the last 10 years I've been there 8 times). I'm looking for a little change of pace but with the same Disney Magic. I was 8 the last time I visited D/L and would like to go next year. Will it be worth the 31 yr wait or should I return to WDW again??? Thanks! :veryconfu

I say go to DL. Here is my rationale: It's the 50th Anniversary, Disney's California Adventure Park will be new for you to see, there are a lot of good deals out there (check out the prices for DL to get an idea), and there is a lot to do and see in CA besides DL. So you can get your Magic fix and see southern california....and perhaps drive to Las Vegas...hehe.

I haven't been to CA in about 10 years so I'm actually trying to decide the same thing myself. As you can see I'm leaning towards DL.

Vegas.....I never thought of that!!! I was in Vegas the last time I was in DL. Hmmmmmm....

Anyway, thanks for the input---I'm most definitely going to DL next year!!!!

One more question and it's a silly one......when does the Happiest Celebration on Earth end???

Why not Disneyland Paris? I wouldn't say it has the Magic that WDW or DL has but it sure is a cool experience... :D

that would be cool but I'd have to save for 2 yrs in order to make that trip BUT it's not out the question for a FUTURE Disney visit......

We went to California for our Honeymoon and we loved it. We were there 10 days.

We spend 2 days seeing all of Hollywood & it's tours & Museums.
We also spent 3 days in Disneyland. Then we spent 1 day in Universal studios.
We spent 3 in Vegas.

Have fun, it's a must see. Just remember it's not as big as WDW so don't get your hopes up. It's more relaxing though.

Disney Tokyo

Im Thinking of going to California Next year for the same reason, want more Disney Magic, but something new and fresh. Then 2007 I'm Heading for Disney Tokyo :sohappy: , i've been planning for 4 years and cant wait.

Personally as much as I think Disney Paris is a much nicer park the attitude of the locals really ruin the atmosphere. But I'm going again in November so hopefully i'll have a better experience than last time (Bloody French). But if i don't at least i've been to WDW Twice this year (Well Sept 22nd marks my third trip this year)! :sohappy:

We decided last week that we'd go to Disneyland in 2006 instead of WDW. Never been there - ever - so we thought, if we're going to go, we should do it during the HHOE. I've been to San Francisco and San Diego, but that's it. I'm really looking forward to it!

For those going to DL.....dont plan on spending more than two days. My wife actually did DL and DCA in one day........its small, crouded, and to me was a dissappointment when compared to WDW.......

But, then again, if you have not been in a while, you probably should go and enjoy it. One thing however, be forwarned, the Downtown Disney in DL is not the same atmosphere as WDW. More school age (highschool) young punk kids that were just hanging out looking like they were just one dark alley away from mugging someone.....but we could have just been there on a bad night.

As someone who spends a lot of time in Disneyland and California Adventure, I disagree with the idea that you can really see both Parks in one day. California Adventure can be done in a day, that's true. But, if you want to see all of Disneyland and truly enjoy the experience you need two days...especially if you get there during the peak seasons. A year ago, when things were being closed down left and right for rehab to prepare for the 50th, I might have said a day. Now, I don't think so.
As for Downtown Disney, I think you just had a bad night. I walk through there all the time without fear of life or limb (or loss of camcorder!). I won't say that about the surrounding area, but within the confines of the Disney Resort it's pretty darned safe. Most of what you saw were probably kids who were dumped off at Disneyland by their parents. Some people seem to think annual passes qualify as babysitters.
Last, if you're coming here for Disneyland, don't go to Las Vegas. Talk about your overhyped cities. It's just personal opinion, of course, but I've never liked the place (maybe that comes from growing up in Reno, Nevada...ick). I'd fear more for my life - and pocketbook - in Las Vegas than at a Disney Park.

Our family went to DL for our family vacation, in August. We were able to do CA in one day. DL, we chose to do only those rides that are unique to DL.

We were saddened to see CoP changed to Innoventions, and the removal of the Jolly Trolley in Toontown. But it was a joy to ride Mr. Toad again!

I especially loved all the unique features for HCOE, the photomosaics, the golden rides, the not-so-hidden "50" at the ride entrances.

Really? Aww.. that's too bad. I liked DLR much better than WDW. It took my family at least 4 days to do everything between shows, tours, and the rides. I can't wait to go back there someday... it was just so freaking amazing. To the original poster: Disneyland.. it'll be SO worth the wait! :sohappy: :D

And, my good luck has it her son works at DL so she has plans to just drop me off at the park each day of our visit! haha So I am gettng excited here.....both DL & WDW in one year!
