While I have to take this as a grain of salt since this reported rumor is from Screamscape..It makes me wonder what will happen for WDW's version if this is true..Here's what the report said

FROM SCREAMSCAPE
Source tell us that Disney is actively going through ideas for a new attraction to replace Captain EO in their park’s 4D Theater. A variety of ideas are being tossed around it seems, many related to one character franchise or another, so it’s too early to lock down any reports on just one idea yet, just know that Disney is aware that the Captain’s popularity has passed once again.

Wow, I wonder what's going to take its place? More importantly, will this new replacement be added to Tokyo and Paris, too? I hope so.

I absolutely LOVED that they brought it back to WDW. I loved it as a little kid and it was just really cool to see it again and listen to the music. But I know it was a temporary thing and I am totally fine with that. I will be seeing it again in a couple of weeks when we go on our Honeymoon, so I will get my fix of the Captain.

I do think they could use a nice new 4D show, along with some new stuff at the whole Imagination Pavilion. I have heard a lot of complaining about the Imagination ride, but personally I enjoyed it, but I think people are salty because they need that post ride stuff they used to have. (which I understand) That whole closed off area needs to be revamped and I think people will be more content.

In due time it will happen, but there are MANY impatient guests who want everything done at one time and Disney won't work that way. Give it time and changes will happen for the better at some point

I thought it was discussed that Monster's Inc Laugh Floor was going to replace Capt EO at DL.

I really don't see Captain EO leaving WDW for a long time. I am saying that because the Imagination Pavilion has no sponsor.

Disney has a history of not building or replacing an attraction without a sponsor in place.

The longer at WDW the better for me! I love this show. During our trip a few weeks ago, we were just able to make it in before the fellow could shut the doors. There was only about 10 of us in the theater (EMH), but it was great to sit there with my son and watch a show that had me feeling his age again. Actually, I was only about 3-4 years younger than him when it first came out. Good times!

I wouldn't care if it stayed - it is a classic, sort of. I would also like a change though. Same two shows have been playing since the '80s, it would be interesting to see what they could come up with.

I just hope before they pull it there is something to replace it with. It can't cost them much to run.

EO isn't the problem... the state if the pavilion is. Imagination doesn't need a band aid, it needs an amputation.

Exactly. Eo is not going anywhere until a suitable replacement is ready to go. They're obviously not going to go back to HISTA.

Agreed, Imagination is not what it was when we were kids and that's a shame. The entire area needs a severe overhaul.

I've never seen Captain EO, but I still think that Michael Jackson should be heard and not seen. Amazing voice, and yeah he can dance but He creeps me out a bit.

Maybe they could re-work Figment and Dreamfinder back in? They don't need sponsors!

Everything I've read says EO will be gone from WDW soon. Who knows?

While it's obviously very 80's, it beats the socks off of HISTA.

They did when they brought EO in.
They could always just put HISTA back.

the movie should feature Phineas & Ferb using their imagination...

Whoooaaaa! That would be awesome. How 'bout a Phineas & Ferb/Figment & Dreamfinder tie-in? It would have to be a separate attraction. I really feel that Journey into the Imagination should go retro.
