DIY mouse ears

I decided to make a post dedicated to how I make my ears. I get a ton of compliments on them when I am at WDW. People tell me to sell them but I just do it for fun. I decided to share my secrets on how to make them in case anyone is interested. I try to make them pretty durable becuase i like to throw them in my bag on rides and don't want them damaged. In general they cost me less than $10 to make. Feel free to copy any ears below. If you make or have any DIY ears post them below.

** WARNING: hot glue guns hurt and making ears is addicting ***

Materials

~ Cardboard (i use left over amazon boxes)
~ headband I use 1/2 in satin headband from Joanns
~fabric- I like using flannel material because it frays less, but any material works. (stretchy material sucks to work with) I usually get 1/4 a yard and have enough to make at least 4
~fluffy poly fill
~scissors
~glue gun

Optional:
ribbion- i usually re-wrap the headband and a color I like
felt- I use different color felt for all the add ons and sometimes the bow

All of my ears start out the same way...

Step 1:
(see materials picture)
Cut 2 cicles of cardboard with a diameter of 3.5 inches. I trim the bottom slightly curved to fit around the headband.
I also cut 2 small curved peiced that go on each side of the curve. I do this to create a stronger base to glue to the headband

Step 2:
Glue small curved pieces and polyfill to each side of the circle. I usually glue a ton of polyfill and then trim it up neatly with scissors

Step 3:
Cut Fabric circles, my circles are 4.25 inches in diameter. I then glue half of the fabric cicles together with a little hot glue around the edges.

Note: you may have better luck then i do with sewing. My edges are not super clean since i just glue the cut pieces together but it works.

Step 4:
I glue the cardboard pieces to the headband using hot glue. I found for me the card board starts 4 inches from each end of the headband (measuring from the inside)

Step 5:
finish glueing the fabric around the circles and tighten it so you glue it a little under the headband.

Step 6:
Add ribbion to the headband, a bow and any other decor you would like to make them your own!!

Here are my finished ears with front and back views
These all use the same basic steps above, I use flannel and felt to create the looks below. The exception are the Flower ears which i used 4 inch foam balls that I cut in 2 and covered with fake flowers.

it generally takes under $10 each to make them. I wish I had the time to make and sell them. I end up making 1 for each day of my tip, I have a 4 day trip in December so I need to get crackin'!
