DIY Disney food at home

I've tried a few different Disney recipes over the years. Some are official recipes, some were found or adapted from various recipes online, and some were just my own invention. Some of these are obscure dishes, but I tried all of them at WDW and decided I had to try to bring some of that magic to my kitchen. This is everything I can think of:

Mushroom risotto from Le Cellier
Mushroom risotto from Grand Floridan Cafe (and yes, those are two different recipes)
Potatoes dauphenoise from California Grill
Pot roast from Liberty Tree Tavern
Oreo Bon Bons from Beach Club (they weren't pretty, but they were yummy!)
Ancient grain pilaf from Jiko (fail--and they won't give me the recipe :()
Breakfast potatoes from Grand Floridan Cafe (mega-fail--and no recipe from them either)

And thanks to YouTube videos by the DIsney Diner, I've also made funnel cakes and the butterfinger cupcake from Starring Rolls.

Three attempts at making the mac and cheese from Jiko...three spectacular failures. :(

I might try the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake or the Tye Dye Cheesecake from Pop...just need to come up with a "special occasion" that warrants cake! ;)

I ordered the Dole whip mix and did everything according to the plans. It came close to the WDW original but just didnt quite taste the same. Guess it was cause I wasnt in the park looking forward to the next attraction.
I do make a mean burger and I'll put them up against Pecos Bill's. My chili dogs also match up with Caseys standards.

I'm not surprised. I've never tried to make it, but I do remember reading the recipe and thinking that it didn't seem right, even on paper.
Haha, glad to hear you say that. In general I don't think I'm too bad at cooking, but that one turned out disgustingly awful all 3 times. Glass half-full: I guess it'll make me appreciate the real stuff that much more...right? o_O

It's probably for the best. If I could figure that recipe out we'd probably eat it every day and would weigh approximately 351684613132156 pounds.

Made 'Ohana bread pudding with the bananas foster sauce. Actually, made it using gluten free bread for a friend of mine's daughter. Came out pretty good. Also, recreated the 'Ohana salad dressing, which came out very, very good.

Have you tried using half water and half milk for the liquid amounts? You have to eat it straight from the machine for it to taste the same, otherwise if you refreeze it, it turnes into sherbert kind of.

I made Couscous M'Rouzia from Marrakesh- it came out good except for the fact that it asked for way too much ginger. We were practically choking on ginger. So next time I will use a LOT less.

I have made a few things, Oooey Gooey Toffee Cake being the favorite. But honestly...I like having all of those special Disney foods ONLY in the parks. It helps create anticipation for our trips, and we enjoy them so much more when we're only eating them once or twice a year.

Now, I do make lots of Disney themed meals as part of the countdown process to our vacation. But they are mostly based on the movies. We'll watch a movie and have themed food to accompany it, once a week for a few months prior to leaving. That is always fun! Sometimes we'll do a theme park night, and we'll have food that "matches" the park, but I usually stay away from copycat recipes of particular Disney dishes.
