DIY Disney food at home

Hi there! I was wondering if anyone has tried to recreate a delicious Disney dish/dessert/drink at home before? Was it a success or fail? Any good recipes you figured out and feel like sharing?

I sort of unintentionally recreated the breakfast juice from Boma (although my version is alcoholic;)) by combining orange juice and guava rum. It's a great combo btw so you should try it regardless!

I have made the PBJ milkshake with some degree of success, and my wife has made many items.

There are a few Disney restaurant recipes that I make at home from time to time. I think the ones I make most often is the "hitipi" dip they used to make at Spoodles, with yogurt and feta. I also frequently make roasted garlic like they serve at Portobello. Back when they were Portobello Yacht Club, they used to hand out their directions for preparing it, and I've made it that way ever since the first time we dined there. I also make this Cobblestone Cheese Bread from the old Yacht Club Galley every now and then.

What immediately comes to mind is the Clam Chowder from Cape May (I've never actually eaten at Cape May's, I've just made the chowder from an official recipe book). Easily the best chowder...

I've made quite a few things (mostly from officially released cookbooks, but some from 'another' website that lists recipies...

Make the Canadian Cheddar Cheese soup, and you can skip Le Cellier and get your steak fix at Yachtsman instead.

My 'go to' Spatzle recipe comes from a F&W cookbook.

One thing that I want to try this summer (and IIRC it's made it onto an official book) is Boma's Watermellon Rind Salad (why throw out the rind when you can make a refreshing salad out of it).

And one thing that I make (probably once a year or every other year) isn't from a restaurant, but from the old Disney Institute cooking class I took: Veal Osso Buco w/ Risotto.

I make FuFu from Boma all the time. Disney will give you most recipes if you ask. I got the recipe from Disney. I followed it to a tee and it wasn't as good. Then I added pumpkin pie spice and it was perfect.

Quite a few. Frunch, Tutto Italia lasagna, Trails End/Hoop Dee Doo Corn Bread, Fulton's Crab Boursin, Le Cellier Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup. All were a resounding success!

Before we go on a Disney vacation I make at least one Disney recipe a week (about 10 weeks or more) before we go. I have had success with Mama Melrose's Chicken parm, Le Cellier's cheese soup, Boma potatoes, and Liberty Tree Ooey Gooey toffee cake. Some others have turned out good, but those are our favorites.

Ooh did the cheese soup turn out well? I always wondered whether it was worth buying the F&W cookbook or if I should just look recipes up online.

The cheddar soup is actually in more than one of the Cooking with Mickey books too. I'm pretty sure I have it in at least three Disney World cookbooks between Cooking with Mickey and various Food & Wine books (which I don't always buy because they rehash the same stuff so often). I've made the recipe once. I actually liked it more than the restaurant's because at home I can control how much salt I put in, what kind of beer is used, and add more veggies and less bacon.

I have used a recipe I found on-line (from this site I think) and in one of the cookbooks. Both worked out well. I tweak it though, I always add a little more cheese, bacon and beer than it calls for.

We had waffle sandwiches for our family Valentine's dinner. We started with the chicken waffle sandwich and prosciutto and swiss sandwich, and for dessert we had the fruit and nutella sandwich! I couldn't find the chicken sandwich recipe, so I had to adjust. They weren't the same as Disney's, but we all loved them!
