Dixie Landings or Coronado?

Hi there - I've stayed at dixie landings several times and loved it. We are going again, needing a moderate disney hotel, and I am wondering if we should try coronado springs. What do you think? Is it worth the switch? We love the peaceful atmosphere at dixie, and the boat ride to downtown disney. We can't really eat spicey foods - so will there be alternatives at coronado? Also, we don't have children. It's just my husband and myself. Honestly we do prefer a more adult, quiet atmosphere. One other thing - I have a disability so it's hard to walk far. I know where to stay at dixie to be close to the food and pool. What about coronado? Thanks!

I find myself getting stuck in ruts at WDW. I tend to stay at the same places all the time because I fell in love with them! I made a decision on my next trip in December to stay at at two new resorts. So - I'm trying out CBR. Then back to DAKL then a new one again at the Swan (I've stayed at the Dolphin before, so I don't expect it'll be much better, except the Swan has the new Heavenly Beds....if you've never slept on one, make sure you do!)

That being said - I think I'm in the minority here when I say that I love Coronado Springs more than Riverside (formerly Dixie Landings) I've stayed at each about 4 or 5 times and I love them both, but Coronado just seems to do something for me. Especially at night! It could also be that Coronado was my first WDW resort ever, so I think it'll always have a place in my heart.

Listen - try it! Even if you like it slightly less than Riverside, I guarantee staying anywhere on Disney won't ruin your vacation! You'll just know better next time. And - you may discover you like it better too!

Hi, we have stayed at Dixi Landings 3 times, and really love it. We stayed at CS once. CS is our second favorite resort. (next to DL). A few things about our CS resort trip. It was the only time we never got a room right away (infact it was after 5:00 it was ready) Check in was a major pain in the neck. (there was a convention happening and that seemed to really mess things up.) Also it just happened to be that the convention was related to my work, so there were social workers, nurses, doctors and others that I work with all over the place with their cell phones, name tags and paper work. Personally that was a problem for me since I really needed to get away and one of the reason I love WDW is you are on vacation, and so is everyone else. I managed to get over it (by making fun of them) and have a nice time. I can imagine the feel of the resort will be different if say a cheerleading convention was there.

The resort is really lovely and well planned. It can be a long walk from some rooms, but you should be able to get a close one. Also since most people were conventioners most were not going to the parks, the buses were always empty, lots of setting (unlike DL). There was less familes in the resort also, so it was quite (as we didn't have kids ourselves then.) The pool and hot tub is nice. The food court is a draw back, but not too bad.

It is worth trying, I would try to find out if there is a convention happening when you are there, and what kind.

Riverside was beautiful. My fiancee and I stayed there last september and we absolutly loved it! We were right near a bus stop and the boat to DTD was perfect! It was my second time staying there, and I recommend it. I also think that the Coronado has a beautiful pool (this is the one with the Mayan pyramid right?). I wanted to stay there next time, but i'm trying to decide on Coronado and Caribbean Beach. Overall though, the Contemporary is my favorite (that I've stayed in).

We are going to book the Beach Club for our Honeymoon next year, and then when we save a few bucks, were going to get a Disney Vacation Club property!!! :):sohappy: :sohappy: :drevil: :sohappy:

I've stayed at DL twice and POFQ once and have only visited Coronado. That being said...on my last trip, it was only myself and my signif. other...no kids. Although I enjoyed FQ, we pretty much decided that next time we go alone and if we go to a moderate, CS it will be. We enjoyed the more adult atmosphere, the pool, and the lack of kid's running around. The food court although I've heard ppl complain about it, seemed a bit better and less rushed than the ones at DL. We love kids, don't get me wrong, but the overall the tone of the resort was much more relaxing and adult. You should note, resort is very large and surrounds a lake. You will need to ask for a room near the main bldg. if you don't want to walk it. But contrary to what others have said I didn't find it that much bigger than DL. The far end of DL feels just as far as the pool at CS to the main bldg. and at least not as disorgarnized. Check this site out for alot of infor and pics... http://64.41.109.164/resorts.htm and www.wdwig.com
