Well when The Childrens Place released their sales results yesterday February 16th..they disclosed that they were not in compliance with the liscensing agreement, mainly because of their inability to remodel stores and store maintenence issues. Maybe someone can help me understand? Does Disney wanty the stores back since we have been doing better since the childrens place has taken over. The disclouse also said disney has the right to remedies as spelled out under the liscensing agreement! As a cast member at the disney store I understand the childrens place was to remodel i believe 200 of the 300 stores when they took over and had 2 yrs do do so! Im confused as to what Disney wants from us? and what they plan to do if the childrens place can not meet the contractual agreements? The release also says that they are in dialog with Disney and to date no agreement has been made.

By the Way-- SPRING SALE starts around(+/- 5 days) April 1st!!!

The "remedies" probably include Disney taking the stores back. Whether they would actually do so is another question entirely. However, with the stores doing better than they were when Disney owned them, it might be something they are looking at.

TCP is doing a WONDERFUL job with the stores...new character lines, more adult clothing, things people actually want! My store was one of the top 50 stores in the company last year and we are doing wonderfully!

I did hear from my one manager that the district manager said that Disney is sorry they sold the stores. Disney should have brought in consultants (like from TCP) and followed what they said instead of selling.

Who knows if Disney will buy us back or not...it will be interesting to see. I would love for Disney to do so, but it wouldn't be exactly fair to be a fair-weather fans of the store...only wanting the stores when they are doing well. I guess all of us will have to wait and see!

Yes I believe according to the contract TCP was supposed to remodel a certain number of stores per year and I have not seen this done either.

I hope TWDC buys Disney Store back.I think it was a bad move in the long term. They should have kept the chain and revamped it.

I actually sent Andy Mooney(Chairman Disney Consumer Products) a letter with ideas of why Disney Store failed and what could be done to keep it alive and well not only as a Disney Freak but a Consumer Manager with 17 years of Retail/Merchandising experience currently with Target.

One of the ideas I gave him was to drastically reduce the number of stores in the US/Canada.Have one store per region or city.Retheme each store differently as a flagship store with local as well as Disney theming. In Florida instead of the 30 or so stores have maybe 3 or 4 in the major cities like Miami,Tampa,Orlando and Jax with each store being localized with for example Mickey with a University of Miami hoodie or something like that.

Also get away from the God Awful 99% under 8 focus on merchandise with a larger variety of items like before but with more competitive prices to increase spending.

And most important......DO SOME ADVERTISING PEOPLE!!!!!! Disney wanted the stores not to be considered a retail operation so they didnt want to advertise.Every unit of TWDC does so they should too.Use the same format as the Parks do showing magical family experiences while going to Disney Store.
I guess he tossed my letter in FILE 13.

I don't see any reason why Disney would take them back. They didn't get rid of them because they wanted to keep them deep down inside....

Chances are, if the stores are truly in trouble then they will probably go the way of the Warner Bros. stores.....
