There are two ways to access the Helicarrier from Goodman Plaza. Near Kirby Newsstand, guests can walk directly onto the rear port wing. Walkable steel panels cover the wing’s turbine so that guests can walk across it. Spigots spurt from the panels, like a fun interactive fountain. The wing leads to the Helicarrier’s below decks area, which features the sprawling S.H.I.E.L.D. Galley character dining restaurant. Further out, a smashed hole in the steel walls leads to Hulk Speak: A Group Experiment, a live interactive animatronic show.
The Helicarrier’s upper decks are accessed by a staircase styled after Central Park’s Bethesda Terrace. An ADA-accessible wheelchair ramp crisscrosses the stairs, very much like similar ramps in DisneySea. Two S.H.I.E.L.D. tech escalators also lead to the top deck, with one escalator located alongside the staircase and the other on the lower wing. This upper level provides access to the land’s headlining E-ticket attraction, Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet, an Intamin Ultra Tower which fuses elements of a flight simulator and a drop tower. Damage Control Storehouse is Avengers’ post-ride shop in the Helicarrier’s cargo bay. Finally, the DisneySky JetRail Station is found on the far deck ledge where the Helicarrier abuts the city’s Grand Central Terminal.
The experience aboard the Helicarrier decks is very similar to exploring a naval aircraft carrier. There are experimental Stark Tech fighter planes scattered about, modeled after F-22s and F-35s, surrounded by camo netting and supply crates. The runway is scarred with plane tire skidmarks, some crossing over the central S.H.I.E.L.D. emblem. P.A. announcements constantly ring across the decks, directing personnel with orders like “bombardier crew to Hangar Bay 2.” The Helicarrier’s command island antennae obscure views of the distant New York City skyline, while providing kinetic touches like spinning radar dishes. The two largest buildings on the starboard side are the Avengers Tower and the Daily Bugle, which serve as show buildings. Other smaller building facades include a Triskelion, the Empire State Building, and the Seagram Building. In the future, depending on how the MCU develops, we could also add Oscorp Tower or the Baxter Building.
Eventually the Helicarrier’s upper decks connect back to the lower level midships via gradually sloping ramps. This deposits guests near the forward port wing. Helicarrier Munitions is a merchandise cart formed around an F-35 Lightning II fighter jet. This wing includes stylized seating for spectacular viewing, as well as access to Cosmic Crater.
The starboard wing opposite this leads to Superhero Tryouts, a plussed meet ‘n’ greet where guests meet and train alongside their favorite superheroes. (Beyond that is an expansion pad, which features a rather hopeful Fantastic Four facade in the illustrated DisneySky map.) Visible in the wing’s massive turbine, oversize propellers spin (a crowd-pleasing kinetic detail) and create an active jet wash in the waters below. Views off the Helicarrier’s western ledges, opposite Langley Lagoon, are carefully controlled to prevent sightline issues. Visible infrastructure buildings are camouflaged to match, designed like various never-built New York City highrises.
The Helicarrier’s southern tip leads onto Liberty Isle, a small island shaped like the Statue of Liberty’s base. As a small, kinetic fountain-like detail, a cistern pipe in the foundation constantly drains into Langley Lagoon. Liberty Park, styled like Brooklyn’s Prospect Park, covers most of Liberty Isle. This park boasts a bronze statue of Captain America, erected in 1945 as a memorial to the First Avenger who was then frozen in ice and thought dead. With Cap now unfrozen and kicking (“Language!”), the statue’s pedestal is freshly cluttered with flower tributes and graffiti like “Love you Cap!” A red, white & blue shield emblem festoons the pavement. Coin-op binoculars peer across the lagoon facing Mt. Helios. Liberty Isle’s main draw is Avengers Academy Boytique, the superhero answer to Disneyland’s Bippity Boppity Boutique. Parked nearby is the Capsicles ice cream truck.
Lee Bridge leads towards Diesel Bay, spanning access to the backstage show harbor. Named for Stan Lee and designed to mimic the Brooklyn Bridge, Lee Bridge’s neo-Gothic design perfectly matches the lands on either side. Four U.S. flags flap atop the towers. A pedestrian bridge walkway passes through the bridge’s inner arches, while the DisneySky JetRail runs parallel under the outer arches. A wall behind the JetRail tracks blocks any possible views outside of the park. Made of riveted girders and Gothic brickwork, the wall features murals of the Avengers battling Loki’s Chitauri invasion, all in various street artist styles.
Cast member outfits
While specific attractions, restaurants and shops suggest their own outfits, in general cast members wear sleek S.H.I.E.L.D. uniforms.

Avengers Airspace features occasional displays by featured superheroes, without following any particular timetable. Simply as an example, Sam Wilson (AKA Falcon) could appear on the Helicarrier deck - typically to entertain guests awaiting lagoon shows - to show off with his EXO-7 wingsuit and his mechanical “bird” Redwing (a remote controlled drone).

S.H.I.E.L.D. refueling carts on the Helicarrier deck double as churro carts. Churros come filled with gooey marshmallow and coated in brownie bits.

Near the Helicarrier’s latrine, stainless steel alcoves provide potable water with minimal fuss or style. The city’s fountains are based on the classy bronze drinking fountains found in Central Park.

No surprise that in the city, benches resemble their real world New York counterparts, albeit with Marvelized bronze plaques bearing descriptions of the various Avengers.

Umbrellas
New York City umbrellas continue the colors and look of nearby storefront awnings. Umbrellas are forbidden aboard the Helicarrier, where instead camo netting provides adequate shade...as do the skyscraper facades, which stand to the west between guests and the setting sun.

Fencing
When fencing is needed aboard the Helicarrier, aircraft netting is employed. Central Park fencing features prominently in Goodman Park, in addition to “City of New York” temporary event barricades.
Lighting
New York City street lighting serves its purpose in Goodman Park, even if the lamps flicker on occasion. Helicarrier flood lights illuminate the entire deck at night, while also shining epic searchlights on the distant slopes of Mt. Helios.

A battle for the very soul of the Marvel multiverse is about to begin. A battle that will span worlds, timelines and dimensions. At the heart of this struggle are the Infinity Stones, powerful relics which can rewrite the nature of existence. Also at the heart of this struggle are the Avengers, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, who fight valiantly against the forces of evil to protect reality.
The six original Avengers are of course represented: Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye. But plenty more heroes appear as well, ranging from the Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and more! Even heroes who have yet to make their grand MCU debuts can eventually appear, such is the ability of the Infinity Stones to constantly reshape events.
Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet is a first-of-its-kind flight simulation ride, utilising an Intamin Ultra Tower ride system which combines elements of a drop tower and a motion base ride for the utmost immersion. Our ride uses branching, randomized storytelling to create a wide variety of ride experiences, and to cover the widest possible range of MCU properties.
The ride entrance is located on the upper decks of Helicarrier No. 64, where the combined beacons of the towering Helicarrier island plus Avengers Tower behind it together serve as one spectacularly iconic “weenie.” A fibre-optic marquee bearing the attraction’s name appears in the island’s otherwise textureless steel wall. The Avengers’ Quinjet sits nearby as an additional weenie and photo opportunity. FastPass distribution is found inside the Quinjet, where a gently sloped ramp leads upwards to flight controls which provide ride reservations.
Queue - S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier
The queue leads indoors, where an extensive tour of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier awaits.
Even the nearby overflow queue provides insights into the Helicarrier’s inner workings. Set outside initially amidst ammo cans and camo tarps, this overflow section leads indoors to an Armory portico to the left of the main entrance. “Authorized S.H.I.E.L.D. Personnel Only” a sign reads. Ammo boxes inside are filled with S.H.I.E.L.D. tech (the Tesseract-powered arsenal depicted in The Avengers) mixed with Chitauri tech (seized by S.H.I.E.L.D. at the end of The Avengers). Chitauri weaponry includes items like alien chariots, grenades, and spears. Silhouettes of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents pass along on overhead catwalks. A reverse-engineered Iron Man arc reactor sits on central display, lighting the entire armory with an unearthly light blue glow.
Helicarrier Hallways
The main queue leads initially into narrow Helicarrier hallways, all of them bearing the same sparse, grey, futuristic metal sheen. There are ten alcoves, each with glass displays featuring props & artifacts for a major Marvel hero. Video screens on the case pedestals depict these heroes in action, with MCU film imagery presented as news footage. Hero displays switch out regularly, as does the ride film itself. These cases give guests a preview of the adventures which await.
The queue’s route leads forever downwards, with a subtle ramping descent. A turn to the left leads to wider hallways, enlivened by slanted walls. Here, guests become increasingly aware of the Helicarrier’s active, bustling ecosystem. Guests can hear S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel working away behind arrays of closed doors. PA speaker announcements echo.
S.H.I.E.L.D. Labs
Although the hallways continue on until they vanish around a corner, guests follow the queue through a door on the right into a medical lab. Spotless white operation tables feature vortex flask shakers and MRI readouts of Bruce Banner’s brain. Frosted glass lab windows show silhouettes of scientists one room over engaged in experiments, testing flying drones or using laser beams to destroy miniature black holes. Schematics show designs for future Insight Helicarriers, as featured in The Winter Soldier. Windows peer out onto the bridge, which will be our next stop.
Loki’s Scepter is mounted on a central display, emitting a faint yellow glow. Unbeknownst to S.H.I.E.L.D. and to the Avengers, it contains the Mind Stone...
(As a general note, the queue portion of this attraction is set shortly after The Avengers, during a time when the original Avengers are all still together and the MCU is - relatively - uncomplicated. Tony Stark has yet to replace the Helicarrier’s turbines with repulsor tech, but he’s here today along with his fellow Avengers to advise on such upgrades.)
The Bridge
Like so many other times in DisneySky, at some point while indoors our structure took flight. That becomes obvious as guests round another hallway corner, pass a S.H.I.E.L.D. eagle emblem and exit out onto the Helicarrier’s expansive main control bridge.
An enormous video screen on the far side appears for all this world like windows peering out onto the bright blue sky, with cirrus clouds swiftly drifting past. These windows show the occasional S.H.I.E.L.D. fighter plane performing a rousing flyby, or even occasionally Iron Man himself jetting about. Most notably, though, these windows let guests view the flying “life raft” vehicles which they’ll eventually be riding.
The crescent-shaped bridge itself is seen from an elevated position, with guests cordoned off from Nick Fury’s command platform. The Helicarrier is presently on “auto-pilot.” A Stark Tech humanoid animatronic appears where we might expect to find Fury overseeing the ship. (In actuality, guests are simply seeing a standard, unadorned animatronic without any skin.) Four transparent computer screens flank the robot. Rows of control stations below are similarly unmanned, though their screens remain a flurry of activity, showing radar and flight patterns and similar visual noise. One screen plays Galaga.
The queue meanders around these consoles before doubling back and heading into another metallic hallway beneath the entrance route.
Chitauri Attack!
An immediate sharp right corner in this following hallway obscures what comes next…
A blasted-open hole in the Helicarrier’s hull! We are under attack! Winds blow in. Flaming wreckage outside dangles precariously over a spinning turbine - all kinetic forced perspective miniatures.
Projection screens beyond depict the attack underway: Alien Chitauri forces pepper the Helicarrier with laser blasts! Distant emergency sirens blare, never too abrasively. Sparks fly from walls. Lights flash. Steam rushes out from portholes. The once-orderly Helicarrier has descended into panic. The PA announces an evacuation.
The Brig
As the queue continues, rooms become smaller, seen more briefly, adding to a sense of urgency.
The emergency evacuation route leads through sharp right-angle corridors to the below decks brig. Film fans will recognize this as the cell where Loki was held in The Avengers. Loki’s glass prison is in here once again, empty this time and bearing a great many cracks and dents. More keen-eyed guests will even notice a crimson stain in the wall where Coulson died.
The Chitauri attack continues unseen outside, with fearful rumblings and the infrequent reverberating sound of an explosion. Occasionally the glass prison will physically shake. The ground under guests’ feet trembles slightly.
A cast member halts guests at the queue’s terminus, where FastPass and Single Rider also meet. Guests are divided into four groups of 24 each, with each group assigned a primary Avenger identity (to wit, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and Hulk). Each group then passes through sliding metal doors to receive their evac pre-show...
Tomorrow will be the pre-show, as we prepare to escape the Chitauri!

Pre-Show - A Righteous Fury
Four parallel lines, each divided by catwalk railing, gather together in an interior chamber. All 96 guests view an overhead gantry, one which spans distant doorways. The gantry hides a Musion projection effect, which seamlessly incorporates live actor footage into existing scenery. With all assembled, lights dim and the pre-show begins…
Either S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) or Assistant Director Maria Hill (Cobie Smothers) walks out onto the gantry - we alternate pre-shows. Either Fury or Hill addresses the group below, providing a sit rep. A wall-sized screen on one side provides accompanying imagery.
A new Chitauri invasion is underway! These alien hordes are again emerging from outer space rifts, with apparent intent to conquer Earth. This time they are focusing exclusively on the Helicarrier, here to steal S.H.I.E.L.D.’s hybridized human-alien tech. Fury believes their main target is Loki’s Scepter. As for how the Chitauri got here…?
Fury or Hill continue to outline the situation, all while fighting off Chitauri foot soldiers who burst onto the gantry, blasting them with repulsor cannons. The chamber itself falls apart physically in the ensuing battle. The screen forms cracks and shows static. The ceiling caves in, as pipes release steam. At a climactic moment, even the floor under guests’ feet jostles slightly, which is sure to provide unease and anticipation.
With a pause in the action and a pause for breath, Fury or Hill again address guests. We are not here to fight the Chitauri hordes. That’s why the Avengers are assembling. We are simply to evacuate. Our “life rafts” await!
The pre-show is brief, under two minutes - less than half the ride time, since there are two ride towers to service. As the show concludes, forward-facing doors open up and cast members breathlessly evacuate guests further into the Helicarrier’s bowels.
Evac Route
Past the doors, the steel hallways split off into two directions, to the two Ultra Towers. Our four assembled groups all head in one direction, down four parallel paths through darker, dingier halls. The showy professionalism of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s upper decks is gone now, replaced with a chaotic tangle of cables and pipes.
The crisis seems more acute than ever here! Wild spinning kliegs provide the only light source. Steam sprays liberally. Prerecorded evacuation warnings echo on repeat. Fearful guests hear the sounds of Chitauri hordes rampaging on the upper decks.
The four groups branch off, two to the left and two to the right. The paths round the “+”-shaped Ultra Tower. Paths branch off one final time, until all four groups have reached an individual waiting room in one of the Tower’s four corners.
Pre-Ride - Safety Spiel Interrupted
This final waiting room is shamelessly industrial, textured with rust stains and battle scars. Twenty-four guests in each chamber assemble beneath TV screens over doorways, arranged like the final Star Tours pre-show.
While waiting for their life rafts, guests watch a safety video. This is a very cheesy, low-rent production, a combination of a government employee training video mixed with an airline safety spiel. With sounds of the battle outside, the video’s cheery tone is quite disconcerting.
Until the video cuts out, replaced with a titanic figure who comes into focus…
Thanos!
The Mad Titan declares war on the Avengers. Lifting his fist, Thanos reveals his nearly complete Infinity Gauntlet! Only the Mind Stone is missing. And Thanos has traveled back in time from the year 2018, from the time of Avengers: Infinity War, to claim it. And we are no more than ants in his path.

Loading - Life Raft Chambers
Once the ride is ready to go, guests enter a small loading hangar compartment. This is a sparsely-ornamented metal space, with little more than klieg lights and the booming sounds of the battle outside. Guests board evacuation “life rafts,” high-tech open air flying machines like those seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron during the Battle of Sokovia. Buckling themselves in, riders prepare to sail out into the aerial unknown.

Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet uses Intamin’s Ultra Tower ride system. This is a very real ride type which has never before been used, a ride type which combines elements of a flight simulator, a motion base ride and a drop tower. Four “life rafts,” each seating 24, sit around a central 90-foot tall tower. (For capacity there are actually two separate ride towers, visible throughout Avengers Airspace as Avengers Tower and the Daily Bugle building, respectively.) Rafts rise and lower along this tower while facing curved outer projection screens. On-ride 4D effects add to an already-immersive feeling of flight, with elements such as wind and water splashes and even real physical flames delighting riders.

The journey begins with life rafts rising up from their sparse metal compartments, up into the screen rooms and out of the Helicarrier…
Like Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet featured randomized ride scenes. Also like Star Tours, these randomized scenes fit into a sturdy narrative framework. The crux of this is that new scenes can be added regularly as the MCU continues to evolve, and even over the course of a single day guests can constantly reride Infinity Gauntlet and never have the same experience twice. At present there are 48 possible ride variations, with more to come in the future!
Infinity Gauntlet is divided into three acts, all of them telling the story of the Avengers battling Thanos and his Chitauri invasion...
Act I (which covers around 20% of the ride) is set in and around the Helicarrier, with riders following one of the four primary Avengers (Iron Man, Captain America, Thor or Hulk) as they battle the Chitauri. Thanos, the Avengers’ archnemesis, has arrived from an alternate future timeline bearing an almost complete Infinity Gauntlet. All he needs is the Mind Stone...which presently resides on the Helicarrier within Loki’s Scepter.
Riders alongside their chosen hero will struggle to protect the Scepter. Regardless of whichever sequence we follow, the Act concludes with Thanos acquiring the Mind Stone...completing his Infinity Gauntlet...and an unexpected missile blast suddenly sending all six Infinity Stones hurtling out from the Gauntlet. The Stones create portals leading all throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Riders pursue one of these Stones into an unexpected new time and place, and the real fun begins…
Act II sees riders plunged into a unique new Marvel film. This makes up the bulk of Infinity Gauntlet, around 70%, and this is where the randomization really comes into play. Riders find themselves in the distinct world of a beloved Marvel superhero...typically in the middle of a climactic battle. Riders continue to pursue the loose Infinity Stones, all while the portals back to our reality slowly seal shut.
Some of the randomized MCU films featured in Act II include: Iron Man 3, Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Spider-Man: Far from Home, and Captain Marvel.
Inevitably, riders’ vehicles will successfully snag their Stone, and pass through the portal, sending us to…

Now with the basic framework of Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet established, let’s explore each of those Act in greater detail. This ride through will provide overviews for over a dozen randomized setpieces.
ACT I (Battle Against the Chitauri)
As stated, there are four variations of Act I, each following a different Avenger in battle aboard the Helicarrier, each concluding with banishment through a rip in time & space. Each Act I variation reflects the personality and talents of its featured Avenger.
Act I, 1 - Iron Man
Like all Act I variations, the Iron Man segment sees the invading Chitauri army loading up a “transport” Leviathan space monster with weaponry stolen from the Helicarrier. Thanos circa 2018 (six years into the ride’s future) eventually arrives via Space Stone portal, seeking the Scepter. While here we follow Iron Man’s movements, we can see other Avengers - and other ride vehicle life rafts - engaged in a parallel adventure. Act I, 2 - Captain America

As the skyborne battle commences, Hulk grabs Chariots like insects and throws them into other Chitauri. Never the most considerate ally, Hulk even grabs our life raft and throws us at the enemy! The melee grows more desperate as Thanos arrives and uses his Infinity Gauntlet to conjure flaming space moons, and to summon an interdimensional Abilisk beast (seen in Vol. 2) to attack Hulk. Hulk is too powerful, of course, and he flings the Abilisk straight into Thanos...loosening the Stones, creating the portals.

Already giving us stuff to look forward to in 2021!Now with the basic framework of Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet established, let’s explore each of those Act in greater detail. This ride through will provide overviews for over a dozen randomized setpieces.
ACT I (Battle Against the Chitauri)

Act II (Banishment Across the Multiverse)
One way or the other, riders now hurtle with terrible cosmic turbulence through a portal. They follow one of six Infinity Stones to another corner of the MCU. Their pursuit of this Stone against this wild new backdrop - all while Chitauri continue to attack from the swiftly-sealing portal - makes up the bulk of Act II.
There are a dozen randomized variations of Act II currently planned, with more to come. Each variation visits a unique major event in the MCU, ensuring that the entire width & breadth of the Avengers’ world gets featured.
Act II, 1 - Iron Man (Iron Man 3)
The Iron Man variation sends guests to the finale of Iron Man 3. A suitless Tony Stark commands his Iron Legion army of unmanned battle suits against Aldrich Killian and his fire-powered Extremis Soldiers. The setting is an industrial dock on the eastern seaboard, which isn’t terribly interesting on its own, but the great variety of Iron Man suits whizzing every which way, hounded by molten flames and tumbling cargo containers, that is interesting!
Riders pursue the Power Stone bouncing off of catwalks and redirected by errant repulsor blasts. At one point, the Stone finds its way inside of a Hulkbuster suit. At another point, J.A.R.V.I.S. directs a group of suits to reassemble and actually encase the life raft itself. Our intrusion into this familiar MCU scene - like all Act II sequences - elicits curious reactions from the featured characters.
(Of course this is just an outline of the Iron Man Act II sequence; there just isn’t enough time here to produce twelve+ complete ridethroughs. Suffice it to say that this sequence - like all Act II sequences - concludes with riders’ life raft claiming their loose Infinity Stone and escaping through the collapsing portal back to the Helicarrier and into Act III.)
Act II, 2 - Captain America (The First Avenger)
The Captain America variation sends riders way back in time to 1945, back to World War II as seen in Captain America: The First Avenger. In pursuit of the Space Stone, riders find themselves in the middle of a never-before-seen battle between Captain America’s Howling Commandos and Red Skull’s Hydra forces, high up in the Swiss Alps.
Our life raft joins the fray while struggling to chase the Space Stone sliding down the snowy slopes. Riders will witness Bucky Barnes, long before his capture and transformation into Winter Soldier, driving a military Jeep. They will see Captain America on his motorcycle engaged in battle against Hydra drones. Lastly, they will rush alongside a speeding Hydra train where Dr. Zola temporarily acquires the 2012 Space Stone, comparing it to the 1945 Space Stone already in his possession, before riders steal it away and escape.
Act II, 3 - Thor (The Dark World)
Riders converge upon the Convergence, a cosmic event seen in the climax of Thor: The Dark World. Several space portals in the skies over London bring together all the Nine Realms, all while Thor battles Malekith and his Dark Elves. Strange gravity phenomena send both riders and the Reality Stone they’re pursuing flipping upside down and rushing headlong through rifts from one Realm to another.
The randomness of these teleportations bring the thrill factor, as riders will one second be zooming towards an Asgardian waterfall, and the next they’ll be bouncing along the exterior of Malekith’s Ark alternating with London’s Gherkin. This segment’s finale sends riders to Greenwich, England, where our Reality Stone reacts strangely in proximity to Malekith’s Aether. With swirls of red cosmic vapor and manifestations of surreal visions, riders manage to snag their Stone amidst the madness as they make their escape.
Act II, 4 - Hulk (Ragnarok)
Welcome to the battle arenas of Planet Sakaar. Welcome to a world realized in Thor: Ragnarok, where the Grandmaster pitted challengers against his beloved“Champion.” And today’s challengers, coming through that arena door? Our life raft itself! And that Champion? HULK!
So it’s riders versus an enraged Hulk, and any attempt to fly out of the arena is thwarted by Grandmaster’s aerial fleet. So riders are forced to fight as gladiators tossed about by the Incredible Hulk, all while the Mind Stone lies disregarded in the arena’s dust. But a chance collision with the Mind Stone causes its powers to alter Hulk’s temperament, and a one-time enemy becomes ally as the great green monster aids riders in retrieving the Stone and escaping through the portal.
Act II, 5 - Black Widow (The Avengers)
(Note that this is a placeholder. Once the Black Widow solo film is finally released, her featured segment will likely derive from that source.)
Black Widow’s segment features the famous Battle of New York from The Avengers! Riders maneuver the skyscraper canyons of Manhattan, flying alongside Black Widow riding a commandeered Chitauri Chariot against hordes of alien invaders. The falling Soul Stone is snagged by a flying Chitauri, so both riders and Natasha give chase.
While the four primary Avengers may be seen fighting in the distance, our focus remains with Black Widow as she winds her way ever upwards through New York’s highrises while blasting Loki’s forces. Black Widow zig zags around a charging Leviathan - riders actually pass through the rampaging beast! - and attacks the Stone-bearing Chitauri. When a pulse shot destroys it, riders make a detour downwards following the falling Soul Stone towards Hawkeye’s archery ledge. Then with Stone firmly in their possession, riders again rocket upwards, past Stark Tower where Loki lunges, upwards not towards Dr. Selvig’s rift in space above, but rather towards the sealing portal which sent us here.
Act II, 6 - Guardians of the Galaxy (Vol. 2)
In this scenario, the portal sends riders hurtling across the cosmos, onto the strange, vibrantly colored world of Ego the Living Planet. Riders now find themselves in the climactic confrontation of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The entire planet animates and battles the Guardians of the Galaxy, while Sovereign spaceships add to the craziness.
A chasm opens up in Ego’s surface, sending the Power Stone plummeting towards the planet’s core. We pursue, confusing Rocket on his jetpack and Yondu on his flying arrow, down into Ego’s brain center. Here, Baby Groot mindlessly collects the Power Stone and rushes heedlessly down dark chambers with riders in hot pursuit. Lastly, once they possess the Power Stone, a blast from Drax’s Hadron Enforcer propels riders upwards and backwards through the portal!
Act II, 7 - Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver (Age of Ultron)
(Note that this is another placeholder, one that is likely to be replaced with a Scarlet Witch & Vision segment once WandaVision is released.)
Passage through the portal launches riders at supersonic speeds, racing in a blur right alongside super-speedster Quicksilver...who is rather put off by this.
Slowing down, riders find themselves in the Battle of Sokovia from the finale of Avengers: Age of Ultron. All of the Avengers (to date) are here battling Ultron’s countless mechanical drones, though riders’ attention mostly falls upon Scarlet Witch, since the loosened Mind Stone gets caught up in her probability-altering powers. The Stone even attracts the attention of Vision, who possesses a similar Mind Stone in his forehead, before explosions send the Stone hurtling throughout the levitating Eastern European city. We pursue, aided by Scarlet Witch destroying rubble in our way, chasing the Stone through cathedral interiors and past the vibranium claws of Ultron’s final form.
Act II, 8 - Ant-Man (Ant-Man)
This time the portal not only transports riders across time and space, it even shrinks them...plunging life rafts into the very final battle of Ant-Man between Scott Lang and Darren Cross. A microscopic battle held entirely within a little girl’s bedroom!
Life rafts settle on a toy chest when - bam! - they’re nearly crushed by the Time Stone, which dwarfs us still at full scale! Riders are wholly unable to possess this motionless Stone. Instead they are caught up in Ant-Man’s struggle against Yellowjacket, bedeviled by a flurry of ants and lasers and Thomas the Tank Engine train models! One of Ant-Man’s Pym Discs strikes the life raft, shrinking it smaller and smaller into the psychedelic Quantum Realm. All seems hopeless - tardigrades and amoebas attack riders - when a shrinking Ant-Man arrives and rescues us with another Pym Disc.
Riders rapidly grow now, back to full scale...smashing through the walls of Cassie’s bedroom, the Time Stone captured on the raft’s dashboard. And after a pause, the full-sized raft falls from Cassie’s upstairs window. With SFPD cars arriving, riders fly up into the portal.
Act II, 9 - Doctor Strange (Doctor Strange)
Emerging from their portal, riders see many similar Sling Ring portals nearby. They are in Hong Kong this time, in the climax from Doctor Strange, as the Sorcerer Supreme and his ally Mordo square off against the sorcerer Kaecilius and his Heretics...all while time travels backwards!
This reversal of time, rewinding the flaming destruction of Hong Kong, makes our pursuit of the errant Time Stone quite perplexing. This isn’t helped at all when the Time Stone is caught up in one of Doctor Strange’s spells and is transported with him up into the psychedelic Dark Dimension of Dormammu. Here events repeat themselves, bizarre shifting organic energies hurtle past, and riders barely escape with the proper Time Stone while witnessing Strange stymy Dormammu with his Eye of Agamotto.
Act II, 10 - Black Panther (Black Panther)
Life rafts swerve swiftly upwards to dodge a charging war rhino as we find ourselves in Black Panther’s Battle of Wakanda. King T’Challa’s forces battle Killmonger’s minions on the wide open fields of Wakanda, while the Soul Stone is caught up in the frenzy. After surveying the battlefield from above, the life raft dives down to collect the unattended Soul Stone...when a Wakandan Talon Fighter jet swoops in and grabs the Stone in a tractor beam.
The life raft gives chase, pursuing the jet down into the nearby vibranium mine where Black Panther and Killmonger are presently dueling, then out from the mine’s panther rock. A merry chase occurs throughout the gorgeous landscape of Wakanda, through the central city, over the rivers, and up the stepped waterfall terraces. Using a holographic mountainside as cover, the life raft cuts off the jet and intercepts the Stone while rushing upwards into the portal.
Act II, 11 - Spider-Man (Far from Home)
Hovering over London’s Thames River, a web-slinger suddenly strikes the arcing Reality Stone. Welcome to Spider-Man: Far From Home, where it’s Spider-Man versus Mysterio. Mysterio’s illusion projections fill the skies, as our life raft sails through false Elemental surfaces and into an inner cloud of Stark drones.
The Reality Stone remains stuck to Spider-Man, while his shorting electrical web causes the Stone to alter reality itself...creating actual monsters and surreal unearthly visions to mix in with Mysterio’s mere facade. While contending with this, the life raft and Spider-Man team up to receive gunfire from a Mysterio drone. The shots free the Reality Stone from Spidey’s webbing, and in swift order he saves the day in London while riders collect their Stone and escape.
Act II, 12 - Captain Marvel (Captain Marvel)
The entire Captain Marvel segment takes place in upper atmosphere freefall, while the finale of Captain Marvel unfolds around riders circa 1995. Our Space Stone plummets to Earth, flaming through clouds. Captain Marvel dogfights a Kree squadron, blasting apart huge warships while in Binary mode, leaving behind a rainbow of colors.
Our freefall pursuit of the Space Stone is complicated when, for no apparent reason, Goose the tabby cat floats in from one side and randomly swallows the Stone! (Oh that’s right, the kitty was a Flerken.) The life raft’s mechanical arms grab Goose and try shaking the Stone out of her. Finally the cat upchucks the Stone onto our dashboard, the Stone manifests a rift back to the atmosphere, and we pass through the escape portal.
Once again note that future MCU films and TV shows will impact possible Act II destinations. Expected sequels to Doctor Strange and Spider-Man, among others, could supersede their earlier films. Falcon and Winter Soldier could get a shared segment based on their upcoming Disney+ show; so could Loki. And new heroes to the MCU such as Shang-Chi, She-Hulk, Moon Knight and Blade can all make very likely future appearances.
Act III (Return & Victory)
(This final 10% of the ride has only one version, as we need to wrap things up now.)
Passing back through the portal, an Infinity Stone in our possession, life rafts return to the midair Helicarrier battle. Other life rafts emerge from other portals, each carrying another retrieved Infinity Stones.

And with that, riders unload. A bit of damage might have been done to the MCU timeline with all our shenanigans, but don’t forget that Avengers Airspace is set in its own universe, Earth-2719.
The exit pathways are similar to the loading level, but located on a separate platform one floor up. Metal hallways covered in blast damage bring all four loading groups together. Groups merge in a chamber which is lit by a miniature arc reactor held in a very secure case. In the corner is a model of Avengers Tower. A final exit doorway is framed by the legs of a beautifully illuminated Avengers “A,” leading outside to the Helicarrier’s upper decks.

Groups merge in a chamber which is lit by a miniature arc reactor held in a very secure case. In the corner is a model of Avengers Tower. A final exit doorway is framed by the legs of a beautifully illuminated Avengers “A,” leading outside to the Helicarrier’s upper decks.

Join mighty Thor on a boat journey across the Nine Realms full of heroics and unexpected terrors
All throughout DisneySky, guests have constantly shattered new barriers and traveled to new horizons, from climbing a mountain to sailing the clouds to even reaching outer space. Now, as technology continues to progress, somehow even greater dimensions open up. Recent researches into astrophysics and quantum mechanics have revealed a way to travel beyond the speed of light, beyond our Solar System or even our galaxy, reaching out to realms which were once thought to be merely myth. Scientists such as Dr. Erik Selvig call this phenomenon an Einstein-Rosen Bridge. However, the medieval Norse people who knew of this anomaly called it by a different name…
The Bifrost!
Prepare to enter the mighty world of Thor Odinson! Prepare to travel via Rainbow Bridge from our realm and across the many Nine Realms. Get ready to witness the glistening spires of Asgard, the wintry halls of Jotunheim, and other dazzling universes. Get ready to ride alongside Thor as he battles terrible foes who seek to undo all that is good...with his half-brother Loki at the center of this mischief. Get ready for one of DisneySky’s most incredible dark ride experiences!
Thor: Beyond the Bifrost is only the second of two water rides in the entire park. For balance, both physical and thematic, it sits on DisneySky’s opposite end from Storm Mountain. This particular water ride repurposes the ride system (and heck, even the layout) from Shanghai Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle of the Sunken Treasure. This is an incredibly high-capacity ride system, with magnetically-propelled Viking longboats able to magically turn and face any scenery. It is also a fantastically immersive storytelling device, one which can surely do the God of Thunder justice.
(Note that this is a major headliner, one that is likely to be added sometime in the years following DisneySky’s grand opening. Note too that this ride alone takes up square footage that is currently used by Anaheim’s Red Lion Hotel. This write-up assumes Disney will purchase and raze that building.)
Beyond the Bifrost is the headlining attraction of Avengers Airspace’s Goodman Park city area, centrally located in Goodman Plaza. The ride is facaded within the Museum of Norse History, which is realised in a Beaux Arts style similar to the New York Public Library Main Branch, albeit with additional medieval Scandinavian details. Chief among these is a pair of marble statues flanking the main entryway, depicting respectively the head and the tail of the Midgard Serpent (the mythical version, not the Marvel version) seemingly passing beneath the stairs. A banner spanning the entrance reads “Journey Into Mystery - Guest Lecturer Dr. Erik Selvig.”
An impact crater scars the city asphalt before the Museum of Norse History, blocked off by police barricades. In its center is Mjolnir, Thor’s enchanted hammer. Only one who is worthy may lift it...meaning that Mjolnir serves as a fun, interactive guest photo-op much like Fantasyland’s Sword in the Stone. Regularly throughout the day, there is a special lifting ceremony - Thor’s Uplifting Event - where a live Thor face performer tasks a group of guests to try picking up Mjolnir. Thor runs through the whole “Whosoever be worthy” spiel. Finally, a preselected child does succeed in lifting the hammer, to much applause. (Mjolnir is then returned to its perch in the crater.)
Entrance to Beyond the Bifrost is not up the museum’s grand central staircase, but rather off to one side through a side entrance under the main balustrade. Nearby to this queue entrance is FastPass distribution, done with monolithic Norse stones set on display in the museum gardens, their ancient runes glowing magically whenever a FastPass is reserved.

Passing through this side entrance, queued guests meander through twisting hallways past the museum’s staff offices, past doors with frosted glass windows indicating deliveries, acquisitions, and so forth.
But these hallways are brief, just a momentary contraction moment before guests reach the central museum exhibit space under marble arches. Relics on display are all from a recent archeological dig. These artifacts blend the worlds of real Norse history, and the more mythic/cosmic world of Marvel’s Thor…
There is a runestone depicting the legendary events of Ragnarok. There are assorted cases of helmets and weapons and hammers. An illuminated manuscript shows the cosmic tendrils of Yggdrasil. A woven textile map shows off the Nine Realms (plus the odd side-realm of Sakaar), predicting the ride’s upcoming sequence of events. There are relics on loan from Tonsberg’s restored Church of the Tesseract, as seen in the opening scene of The First Avenger. Here and there are Easter eggs from Epcot’s Maelstrom, such as a statuette of a three-headed troll.
Selvig’s Office
The queue travels upstairs, following a route similar to Shanghai’s Pirates of the Caribbean, in order to cross the ride’s waterways. Two queue lines form here, running in parallel towards two eventual loading docks.
For now, they continue upwards past another large exhibition hall on the left where a whole Viking longboat sits on display. Other assorted nautical Norse artifacts sit around its base. This exhibit is in disarray, tossed aside by Dr. Selvig’s hastily-deposited scientific equipment. There are thick electrical cables, buzzing battery cases, Jane Foster’s phase meter, and gravitational rods from Thor: The Dark World.
Dr. Selvig’s main office space is to the right of the queue, with windows overlooking the ride’s canals subterranean below. A television is haphazardly set up atop a desk, next to a radio which quietly plays Led Zeppelin's “Immigrant Song” (Thor’s unofficial theme). This TV provides our ride context. On a video loop, Dr. Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard) describes his quantum observations into the Nine Realms and his search for Thor. Now is the time in between The Dark World and Ragnarok, the time when Thor when exploring the cosmos in search of Infinity Stones...while Loki secretly sat on the throne of Asgard disguised as Odin.
On his video, Selvig rambles about tracking Thor’s location using wormhole fluctuations. Selvig also describes a fleet of boats he has assembled, boats which combine traditional Nordic shipcraft and modern astrophysical knowledge. Boats that are able to travel both the Bifrost and the secret passageways of the Nine Realms. Setting forth from the freshwater canals beneath the museum, boats will follow Selvig’s pre-programmed route tracing Thor’s footsteps across the universe. Space maps taped over Norse tapestries depict our upcoming route in detail, charting a course over the starry tendrils of Yggdrasil, with special notes made of Asgard and Muspelheim.
Loading - Underground Aqueduct
The queue turns right towards stairs which lead down into the subterranean museum foundation. Two queue platforms sit along an aqueduct edge within this low-slung brick cellar. This is a long-abandoned New York subway station, built during the Gilded Age to coincide with the Museum of Norse History’s grand opening. The ceiling, hidden beneath generations of grime, bears an oil mural depicting the mythical events of Ragnarok.
This chamber, long forgotten by most, converted by the city into a storm drain decades ago, is most recently host to Selvig’s Bifrost experiments. Illumination comes from spotlights hooked directly into the city’s power grid. Scientific poles and grating serve as queue barriers and gates. Viking-style bateaux longboats, each able to seat 36 riders in six rows of six, are dispatched by a lab tech cast member behind an electrical console.
