Disney's new Flipside promo/sweepstakes for January

Its on the Disney Parks blog page as well.
I don't read Disney Blogs either. The more I think about it, I guess that I really am not a Disney fan!:jawdrop:

I was confused by that too. I think it's just a matter of semantics. As far as I can tell, they are giving away 31 prize packages, one for each day of the month. But since the first drawing isn't until January 2, there are only 30 prizes awarded in January. Each day's prize is awarded from only that day's entries. However, all non-winning entries are carried over to the Grand Prize drawing, held on February 1.
And the Grand Prize will be... They transport the BAH to your property and set it up on your front lawn. You will be the talk of the town. Famous! ;)

When the castle stay was part of the Year of a Million Dreams promotion, winners had to stay in the suite until morning. Security was posted outside the door in case any needs arose.

It totally makes sense that you can't just wander around the park after closing. That said:

1. If you wanted something to eat after hours, is anything available? Some sort of room service?
2. When are you able to leave your room at opening? Can you beat the "rope drop" folks to be first in line somewhere?

During the promotion snacks were in the suite for guests when they were closed in for the night. In the morning, the prize included breakfast at the Crystal Palace whenever the winners were ready to eat.

I can't see why the idea would offer any 'insight' on 2015 marketing?

1) Starting to use the dream suites for public promotions again - they haven't been doing this regularlly since the YOMD promo. So question is.. will this be returning more frequently in 2015?
2) The 'flipside' tag and the made up marketing behind it.. will flipside or some varient of it be a tell of what marketing slogans they will use going forward in 2015?
3) The idea of a month long open contest... does this mean any sort of pattern for whats up beyond Jan?

So as I said... is this a one off, or is this an insight into some of their marketing strategies for 2015.

It's simply a promotion... that plays off their exisiting marketing of Show Your Disney Side.

This contest is nearly identical to last year's 'Disney Resolutions' which also ran the entire month of January, awarding one vacation a day, 31 total. Last year it did not include a night in the Castle Suite... this year it does... *shoulder shrug*

The 'Flip Side' reference seems to be a play on 'Show your Disney Side'... as the paragraph reads:

Join me in the month of January as I go behind the scenes to show you never-before-seen Disney Sides of some of your favorite Disney Park personalities. It's Disney Side fun, flipped around, just for you!

Considering the first line reads 'month of January'... I don't expect to see anything 'Flip Side' related after the promotion end. The Reports are 'cute' video clips... such as the after hours dance off between the Green Army Men and Toy Soldiers.

'Show your Disney Side' also had a [smaller] promotion in November: Short YouTube videos were created showing your Disney Side (#ShowyourDisneySide) to win a trip to the first-ever #DisneySide All Star Creator Conference at the Yacht Club this month:

I get all that. I'm not saying this is entirely NEW... I'm talking about projecting into 2015 since Disney hasn't really done their annual promo tag for 2015 onward. I'm opening the discussion for 'what does this mean (if anything) for what the marketing will be for 2015?'

They will be continuing the Disney Side promotion in 2015 as stated in a Disney Parks Blog article
This year we’ll continue the fun by encouraging all of you to show your Disney Side at our parks (and at home) throughout 2015.

That's easy... When they say that they are going to show the "flip-side" of characters it simply means that 1) they are going to have the CM's come out for M&G's without a costume:jawdrop:, or 2) they are going to still be in costume but once they get out there they will turn their backs to the crowdo_O, or 3) they are finally going to let the CM's tell off those obnoxious Guests:mad: with no fear of problems. That would be different and very enjoyable to watch. I'd buy a ticket to see that, wouldn't you?:)

Well to answer your question I believe disney will be really emphasizing the "Show Your Disney Side" because most of the 2015 merch has mickey showing is disney side, and mickey ice cream bar and a soccer hat

What do you do if you are a family of 5 or 6 and you win a contest like this? Can you buy space for additional people?

You'd not take everyone or pay for them to stay elsewhere. I'm sure Disney would be flexible in letting your family into seeing the place... but I'd wager they'd be strict on the overnight portion.

I wonder what it's permitted as... probably a residence/apartment and not a hotel property. So maybe Disney would cut you some slack and let some cots/rollaways in for small overages.

I'm sure everyone would agree 'lets cross that bridge when we get there' :D

Seems the "Enter" button has disappeared from the site? Couple comments on the Disney Parks' Blog say the same thing.
