We were in florida in August 2012, we found the parks to be significantly busier this time than when we went back in august 2010. My wife and I put this down to the expanssion' going on in all the hotels and the DVC', You add this together with only a limited expanssion to MK and I think you will start to see the parks getting busier and more time being spent in lines.

There are many reasons for the "busiest" times at the parks. New Years is special. Some people like being packed in like sardines, hence NY City and the ball drop. It's a tradition and a "bucket list" item for some people.;) I've done Christmas time at WDW. It's crowded, but not impossible. You just need to know what to do, and how to do it. Plan for it and enjoy!:D I just think WDW is basically fairly busy all year round now for so many reasons: one being of course "free" dining.;) There are "special" events now just about all times of the year. That's Disney for ya!:D

Well this is nearing the end of a peak season, so it is no surprise you're caught in it. The week before Christmas was pretty crowded on the weekends, so it's not that unreasonable to have the lines now be even longer.

My husband was saying once he would love to go around Christmas just to see the decorations, maybe hotel hop to see the set ups and stuff. But no parks as he is let's say "allergic" to crowds.
