Disney's Hotel Las Vegas

I think that Disney should build a hotel that is themed to VEGAS!!!. The hotel could be covered in neon lights, showgirls, and in the center there would be a big ol' casino! I think this idea is great. And don't give me any crap about WDW being a family destination. There are plenty of bars, beer, and boinking going on at WDW! The three B's!!! What do ya'll think? Any ideas to expand on this? What would the pool look like?

It actually is a great idea for WDW, it is pretty much the last thing that Disney doesn't have down there, and would create a new audience. Doubt it would ever happen, but they could always put it in an out of the way area. If you don't want to stay or go there, you don't have to. Casinos (not in Atlantic City) make ridiculous amounts of money. If they built it, the income would greatly increase WDWs income, and therefore WDWs budget. Don't forget, Disney does own a studio. If done right, I'd wouldn't take much away from their image, it would just be a more "adult" section of property. I know I would stay there at least once.

edit: I know there was a similar thread to this already, let me see if I can find it.

They don't know, they don't see the whole picture of it. It would actually do more good than harm.

Thats a terrible idea, why not have a resort where hedonism and nudity is allowed and you sit around smoking spliffs, watching Disney movies while your at it.....Oh, wait thats not a bad idea. I gotta email Disney with that one.

Welcome to the boards.

Ok, first on the three b's. Yes this stuff happens in Disney, however, it isn't displayed or applauded. People go to Disney to be with family, that's what it is, if you think it's crap and want to see more of this stuff, stop going to WDW and just start going to Las Vegas more. A hotel like this in WDW is a horrible idea, im sorry to say it, but it isn't a good idea. How would you feel if you were a parent, and took your kid to WDW and saw the stuff that happens in Vegas happening in WDW? I'm not a parent but if I was I would be pretty upset.

As to the Hotel New York in DLP, when people think of New York, you generally don't think of the "three b's". You think of Time Square, The Skyline, Ellis Island, The Statue of Liberty etc.., However, with Vegas people think of the Gambling, ______, and Drinking, which isn't exactly the image Disney wants to even consider giving themselves.

Ok, so they don't theme it to Vegas. Casinos have existed long before Las Vegas. How bout a resort themed like a Riverboat casino?

Is the objection to the casino, or to it being themed like Vegas. I can see the negative connotations with LV, but overall, a casino would be a good thing for WDW.

However, I would be all for Disney resorts in resort markets that don't have Disney theme park...

Disney's El Paradiso Resort Cancun

Disney's Jammin Montego Bay Resort

Disney's Napa Valley Rose Hotel

the ideas are limitless

Sorry, but bad idea. This isn't the image that WDW wants. Plus, I hate to break it to ya, but WDW is a family destination. A Vegas resort, wouldn't be such a bad idea if it weren't for two factors mentioned above.

Showgirls-not something WDW needs on property, nor is it something that belongs there.
Casino-Disney doesn't need any resorts that would have huge sections off limits to kids.

That doesn't scream family. One could argue that it could be built out of the way, but you'd still get mucho complaints when people book a stay for their family and find out what kind of place it is upon arrival (and we all know that many people don't look at things like that, it's disney, fun for the whole family). I think if people want their kids in a Vegas casino environment, they'd take them to the real thing.

BTW, anyone know Florida's laws on casinos? Are they even legal in the state?

What next? Disney's new flea bag resort, complete with an adult toy store? Rooms by the hour?

Worst Idea I have ever heard of for WDW. What the heck were you thinking?:brick: Yes it would them a ton of money, but gambling and Disney do NOT mix... Besides, gamblings is illegal in Florida.

Those types of resorts aren't the moneymakers a WDW casino is guaranteed to be, though.

who guarantees it? There is casino gambling within an hours drive of WDW (Hard Rock Seminole Indian Casino - Tampa), and the various cruises to nowhere... ie, Casino Boats. There's also betting on Dog Tracks and Jai Alai all less than an hours drive from WDW.

Not to mention, only Vegas is Vegas... Biloxi is.. err.. eh, and Atlantic City makes me sick. Don't even get me started on Detroit. San Juan is nice, but unless you speak Spanish, you're SOL.

WDW doesn't need a casino.

If it was called "Disney's Vegas Casino Resort", you'd have a hard time making the argument that people wouldn't know. Or you make it an adult only resort. 500 rooms, not something huge. There are plenty of adults that go to WDW without kids, so saying "its only a family destination" is dead wrong.

Again, make it a Riverboat casino, not Vegas. No showgirls.

As far as the laws go, I'm sure Disney could find some Native American tribe that would let Disney use their name to get the casino built for a share of the profits. If not, I'm sure they can get an exception made in the law, if casinos aren't legal.
