I will be there in 1.5 months and will miss SSE, HM, and dinner at Mitsukoshi...but hey, we'll get by. We'll actually finally have time to do Test Track, Expedition Everest, and Rockin Roller Coaster..in three years we haven't had the time to of any of these.

As for teppen, we found a good Japanese restaurant in Orlando that we are going to try..and where I can use Restaurant.com certificates to save money. Plus, we replaced Teppanyaki with Morocco...been dying to try there!

So, there are actually a few plusses to these rides/restaurants being closed.

However, I must say that I'll miss using SSE to cool down in!

I went to Morocco once and I must say the food their was pretty good. I believe like every half hour or so they have dancers that come out and perform for you as well. I mean its no Japanese food but I think you will like it.

Well I think Disney is "damned if they do and damned if they dont".

People will complain about things getting boring and old and then they refurb it then they get mad when its down.

Id rather come to WDW and miss out on an attraction knowing its getting the TLC it needs.

I guess Disney can always do what the ski resorts and hotels in the Catskills do -close down ever summer for 2 months and fix everything at once.

Then it would be like the Griswalds arriving at Wallyworld....:brick:

Sorry, but I still chalk it up to poor planning - fanatics or not. If mom and dad had done their homework, they could prepare little Johnny beforehand. I think if the average mom and dad has only a week to spend at Disney each year, proper planning makes the most of that valuable week. Why leave such a trip like that to chance?

I'm not trying to be harsh, but things like this happen. Someone could have planned their vacation for a year and then something like this pops up. The disappointment wouldn't be as severe if you knew before you got to the gates.

I planned my trip months before the HM refurb was announced. It's my favorite ride at MK. I'm disappointed, but I'm also a fanatic (:D ) so I knew about it. More than being disappointed, though, I'm thrilled that my fave attraction is getting the TLC.

I have to agree with you. In todays day and age, people need to realize that information is so easily accessed on every topic, not just on the web, but simple phone calls to Guest Services can also help you plan your trip better! Talk to a travel agent, talk to other relatives who have went, it's not hard, the information is there, you just have to get up and look for it!

Sure, there are things that are uncontrollable, everynow and then a ride does unexpectedly break down. Even in the case of not being able to reschedule a vacation, wouldn't it be nice to know that maybe a couple of rides will be down?? Maybe TOT is down, do you really want to get all psyched up to go to MGM if TOT is your fav ride in the whole park and your only reason for going, and it's closed?? What if you go in the off season your favourite water park will be closed, wouldn't you like to know that before you arrive?

Who buys a car, a house, heck even washer and dryer without doing a little research??? A disney vacation is an expensive vacation and IMO, not one to be treated so lazily, I think it warrants a little research into at the very least what there is to see and do, if not what is open and what is not.

IMO a fool and their money are soon parted.

I think they would have far more complaints if the HM was down during MNSSHP's.

I agree that when you are spending a great deal of money on a vacation, research is in order.

I call B.S. on the off-season versus on-season.

I just got back to WDW. I generally go during slower months. I visit 4-6 times a year for a week or so at a time, usually in May, Sept/Oct, Jan, considered slower seasons.

Solo, I can do 12-18 attractions in one day during the slower season. This past week, I was lucky to do 6 or 7. The crowds are signifigantly different; he may mean OCCUPANCY at hotels or revenue whatever, but it's just PR blather. There is assuredly a difference when I have never seen more than a 15 minute wait on Snow White in my life (and normally not any at all) and this time it was at least 30-35 most of the time.

As to the Mansion closing, I agree that it has to be done sometime, and not every attraction is always going to be open. I am the *FIRST* one on these boards to say that when the discussion normally comes up. However, the problem is when OTHER THINGS go down in addition to it. I mentioned in another thread how this Monday was crazy at the MK...Mansion is down, Pirates down on and off all day, Space Mountain down, Splash and Big Thunder having intermittent issues. I never saw the MK in such dissaray and was listening as families kept cris-crossing the park trying to find a major attraction actually open (and then settling in on Fantasyland when they gave up, making even IASW having outrageous waits).

So I'm so glad it's getting done, but I do question picking the summer season to do so. I also had to wonder last week what was up with MK maintainance. I was satisified with my trip 'cause I get to go down many times per year. When it's not fun I just find something else to do. However, I can't deny anymore (though I had quite a bit before my last trip) that something is up with the MK. It wasn't just Monday (Monday was the worst), I'd say over the 12 times I tried to ride Pirates in the last week, it was closed half of them. On different days, different times, etc. I don't need to be lectured about "rides go down..." LOL as I know that full well. But I simply can't deny that I noticed a sharp increase in big attractions being down all week compared to every other visit I have made.

We planned our trip perfect for this one! Sept 6th – Sept 16th Haunted Mansion reopens Sept. 12th. And Halloween fright night is the 14th 7pm to midnight. I have my tickets or should I say cards in hand for that night! Can’t wait!!!:ROFLOL:

If this is a deal breaker, the info that it would be closing for the summer was there for many, many months and people could've planned around it. Now I depart on 9/12 so how's that for ironic :ROFLOL:

You chose to bump a 4-year old thread about the ride's previous refurb to post a photo of the new queue, rather than add it to the other very-recent threads about said queue?

What is with good rides being closed on my trips? Last trip i couldn't ride Space Mountain (one of my favorite MK attractions) and now i won't be able to ride Haunted Mansion on my upcoming trip. This is just unfortunate. :(
