Disney's Daughter Blocked From Meeting
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Walt Disney Co. (DIS) said on Sunday it had declined to let the daughter of renegade shareholder Roy Disney and other individual investors attend a meeting for institutional investors and analysts this week in Florida.
Disney company spokesman John Spelich said that Abigail Disney was told that individual shareholders were not invited to attend the meeting that is set to begin on Feb. 11.
"We told her that unfortunately we were not able to accommodate retail investors," he said. The meeting at Walt Disney World in Orlando will include presentations by senior management and will be Webcast and available to all investors, although only attendees will be able to ask questions.
Savedisney.com, the Web site started by Roy Disney after he resigned from the board last November and began a campaign to unseat Chief Executive Michael Eisner, posted an open letter to Disney presiding director George Mitchell, asking him to explain why Abigail Disney would not be admitted to the meeting to represent her father.
It then accused Disney of lacking transparency.
"It is rather unfortunate that this is nothing more than an amateur hour grab at publicity," Spelich said.
Roy Disney, the nephew of founder Walt Disney, is one of the largest individual shareholders, owning less than 1 percent of the company.

How dare a Disney be allowed to go to a Disney meeting?!
Eisner needs a reality check. He and his regime of imaginary money-ites never ceases to amaze me.
