Disney's Beach Club Resort

Hey everyone!

My wife and I just got back from WDW the other day. We took a mini-vacation and stayed in the Beach Club Resort for 4 days/3 nights. We have stayed in other properties on-site such as the Animal Kingdom Lodge which was awesome but, the Beach Club is just as wonderful if not more-so.

One thing we found attractive is, you're a five minute walk from Epcot. This also means you're about 10 minutes from the monorail which can take you to the Magic Kingdom. This in itself made this our new favorite resort. Not to mention you are a boat ride or short walk from the Boardwalk.

The pool there is wonderful! It has a sand bottom! And it is HUGE! There is also a lazy river to float down and a cool water slide for the kids, and the big kids :). The main restaurant there has a great character breakfast buffet. Minnie, Goofy, Chip, and Dale roam around from table to table for pictures and fun. And there is an old fashioned ice-cream parlor there that has this thing called "The Kitchen Sink" which is the biggest ice-cream I have ever seen in my life! It takes at least a family of four to eat this thing!

This resort is very kid friendly as well. But, if you're like us and didn't bring kids, this is a wonderful place as well. Bottom line, if you're looking for an upper level resort in a great location to Epcot and Magic Kingdom, this is it!

I think the Beach Club is the best of the deluxe resorts in atmosphere and accessability. Nothing is better than being right on the lagoon and so close to Epcot. I think it has lots of charm, I don't consider it bland at all. For the money you pay, I was disappointed in AKL. SO maybe I have a skewed opinion.

Off topic, and yes I have committed the wdwmagic.com mortal sin of not doing a search before asking a question, BUT...

How would one go about doing this?

You have to find a current DVC member who has points available that they want to rent. The best and most reliable place to do this is on the disboards under their DVC - rent/trade points. Then you find out from the points charts/calculator how many points you will need. Then send responses to the people who have points available.

When you find someone they will make a reseravation for you, and then when you receive the reservation information they will want the payment. Some, particularly with larger point amounts being rented will take the payment in installments.

One nice thing with renting points is that you can have the DDP added to your reservation and (1) you don't have to have it as a package from disney so you can get your tickets elsewhere and (2) you wait until you arrive at disney to pay for the DDP so you can save up until you actually arrive, you just have to have the person you're renting from tell them that you want the DDP.

If you have any other questions or need further information on websites to look at feel free to PM me.

I have stayed at the Beach Club a couple of times now and that is where my wife and I spent our honeymoon. My wife has told me that now she doesn't want to stay anywhere else.

I have heard some not so great reviews, but my personal experience find them unfounded. We really love the atmosphere of the BC and even with it's kid friendly decor and pool can be very romantic and relaxing.

I have stayed at or explored a few other DW resorts and the BC is still my favortie. Great thing about DW is there is something for everyone. :D

We are going to be at the Beach Club in August for the fourth time. jjgoo, we have the same opinion as your wife, we have stayed other places (including Wilderness Lodge, and Animal Kingdom Lodge) and find we never want to stay anywhere other than the Beach Club again.

The smell alone is reason to stay at the Beach Club. Not to mention the chicken caeser salad in the market place.

At night you can leave the resort and hang out at the Boardwalk or just walk over to Epcot without having to worry about transportation.

It is hands down the best Disney resort! WOOOO! we cannot wait to go. :sohappy:

I do agree with you, the Y&B club is in one of the perfect locations in WDW. So is the Swan and Dolphin and the Boardwalk Inn. Did you dine at Cape May? You definitely should next time. Oh, and The Kitchen Sink is the biggest ice cream I've ever seen too.

We were considering Beach Club as our 3rd choice resort, after Grand Floridian and Polynesia. In the end we booked Grand Fliridan and are going next month. Would be intrerested to hear views on the 3 we narrowed down tho.

Is it worth switching hotels midstay to "try out" the differnt themes, or do you think that would be too tiring?

We have a nearly 3 y.o. with us.

Was keen on that idea at first coz we couldnt decide which resort to stay at, but hubby (who would be the one to carry the bags) was dead against it, so we are booked to stay all 6 nights at grand Floridian...

When we stayed at the BC Villas we did switch in the middle of the stay and then went to Wilderness Lodge Villas but we had a 10 night stay and they transferred our luggage so it was great! However, if your only there a week or something it might be a lot to switch after three nights. We loved doing it though and would definitely do it again!
