Since Disney likes to take basic amusement park rides and add their own style to it (i.e. rides like Mad Hatter TeaCups, Dumbo or even Aladdin's Flying Carpets where it's a basic 'fly in a circle' type), don't you think they could at least take some of the better amusment park rides such as Round-Up, Tilt-a-Whirl, Scrambler or Wild Bull and make more interesting rides that way? I know I'd be more inclined to visit the park that contained these attractions.

Ditto, although I prefer they don't unless the situation fits.

i.e. Woody's Roundup could be a round up ride, but does that really make sense. Plus all the puke would be gross for a Disney park.:hurl:

Apparently you haven't seen DCA.

It's all rehashed old amusement park rides.

Flik's Fun Fair will probably be the worst offender.

I agree. They would be kinda cool to add( if they really needed something) but let the littler parks put those in and let disney spend it's money on a new themed coaster or something.

Those types of attractions are not the ones i want to see in a disney park. period. I'm glad i haven't seen DCA, but i would be really saddened if rides like that appeared at WDW.

Actaully, I'm not 100% about the Dumbo style rides but I'm pretty sure that DL was the first to have the Teacup style ride.

What I would rather see is those types of attractions with Disney Imagineer theming and extra technology added...but uh, that's how most Disney rides are...basic rides you can find in any amusement park with better technology and outstanding theming. But, I don't want to see an influx of spin-and-puke rides...and we just got two in the past year, so I say...build Beastlie Kingdom with an amazing e-ride and a great family dark ride...and feel free to throw in a spin-and-puke that is well-themed...I don't really care one way or another, I just don't want to see too many of them. I'd rather see a wooden coaster by CCI...errr...they don't exist anymore...I meant to say The Gravity Group.

disney actually designed 90% of those carnival rides in the first place. whe disney designed the teacups it was their own design. most of the carnival rides you see are just knock offs. besides they are fun. and at disney you wouldn't mind rideing them because you know they would be maintained and in good condition. but they would need to do it with style and flair like aladdin magic carpets. even though me and my wife didn't ride it it was pretty cool looking.

Yep, just confirmed that Arrow Dynamics which was little more than an oversized machine shop at the time, helped design and build what at the time were original custom projects for both Dumbo and the Tea Party rides... They also had a hand in most of the rest of Fantasy Land with ride systems for Peter Pan, Snow White, Casey Jr. (something we don't have at WDW) as well as It's a Small World. They also were involved with the design and construction of the "Doom Buggies" you ride in at the haunted mansion as well as the ride system for Pirates of the Caribbean which is very similar to IASW... You can also thank them for the curtesy trams that take you to your car at the end of a busy day because they were a first with DL and were built by Arrow... In a sense, you could say that Arrow was the precursor to a big chunk of what today is Imagineering and all of these types of ride systems premiered at DL.

The dino land has the Primevil whirl. This is a take off of what they call mouse trap rides..orgins of which come from Cony Island and the Jersy shore.

Yet you'd pay that much to ride very basic carnival-type rides like Primeval Whirl, Dumbo, Aladdin's Flying Carpets, etc, etc, etc.? What difference would it make?

Actually, I don't think it's even a knockoff. Unless I'm mistaken, it was an off the shelf ride that was purchase outright from a third party manufacturer and then modified slightly to ad some sort of theme.

The problem is there are at least two very different groups of people who come to WDW/DL. One group would prefer all "e-rides" incorporating lots of imagination and innovative design, even if it means that there would be fewer new rides, and the rides would have longer lines. Others would prefer more rides, a wider selection of rides, and some rides with shorter lines, even if it means throwing in some carnival type rides.

What kind of ride system is Space Mountain? it feels kinda like a wild mouse, but I cant remember much of it. I think the ride system for primeval whirl would be interesting in the dark like Space Mountain. With the cars being like they are, it would be impossibe to see the track, and with the feeling of falling off the tracks all the time, it would be cool.

As a parent(Ah! I swore I'd never say that!) I know its a lot easier to get an,"I just might cry if you take me on that" type kid on a carousel ride than to walk 2/3 of the way through a que just to bail out at the last exit. You have to prepare your little guys. We weren't born soldiers so, let them be kiddy rides.

They have it at Kennywood. "The Exterminator" http://kennywood.com/coasters.cfm

If you can't see the track, how would you know if you're falling off?

agreed you can't please everybody. some carnival rides are ok so long as it dosn't turn completely into a great adventure like IOA is begining to do.
