Disney's America Showcase

OK, I was thinking about the lost Disney'a America theme park concept (and reading some threads here) and I thought: wouldn't it be cool if Disney cross-bred Disney's America and World Showcase, so you would have about a dozen states (and DC) around a lagoon? I would like this to be a grou project, so how about everyone takes a state off the list below (I claim NY)

New York
California
Hawaii
Florida
Texas
Pennsylvania
Massachusetts
Washington (state)
Michigan
Alaska
Wahington, DC

Feel free to suggest others!!

BTW, My 200th post!!!:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

Nce to see a group project once again!

I'd like to take California.....

Also, I believe we'll need to create attractions, shops, and eateries for each of our lands?

One suggestion I might have is instead of Massachusetts, do New England. I am sure you can come up with more than enough on Mass. alone, but since it is so closely integrated with the rest of New England it would give you a bit more diversity.

Sure! And yes, that is correct.

Just my opinion, but you need to pick different states. These would be my picks; their main logo (*icon*) is in parentheses:

Washington State (Seatle Tower)
Missouri (Gateway Arch)
New York (Statue of Liberty)
Hawaii (Huge Palm or Volcano)
Alaska (Ice Cap)
New England or Mass. (Mount Vernon)
Colorado (Rocky Mountains)
California (Golden Gate Bridge)
Wyoming (Yellowstone Exhibit)
Tennessee (Smokey Mountains)
Washington, DC (Capitol Building)
Arizona (Grand Canyon)

Sounds great! Any particular focal point to bring the areas together?

And if this is a group project I'd be very interested to explore a Hawaii area. Ive recently visited Kauaii and have loads of great photos to work from!

Thanks dude! That was definitely 'One Little Spark' for me:sohappy:

I noticed for California somebody mentioned the Golden Gate Bridge. Something I'm proud to say is in my back yard since I live in San Francisco. But as far as an attraction, I'm surprised that somebody hasn't come with an idea of a runaway cable car that took you through the hills and neighborhoods of this great city. Maybe even ending with some sort of earthquake effect at the end. I think that would be a great attraction idea for DCA.

YOU thought, huh. Funny, I remember posting the same idea in a post about disney's america about a month ago. Isn't that interesting. Anyway, the right way to do it is to give certain states their own area, but do regions of the US for other areas so you can have a wider range. DC can have all the paitriotic stuff like hall of presidents, and an american adventure boat ride detailing major points in american history. And depending on where you put the park, you can have ride clones like M:S(texas), Test Track(midwest) ect

Sorry I haven't posted in a couple of weeks, just got back from WDW.
ANYWAY....
1. The entrance area will have a street with several cultural influences, like an Italian deli, Polish meat shop, etc.

2. The focal point will be a gigantic Statue of Liberty (NY will have ESB)

3. In order to please Wannabe Walt and edwardtc, I'm adding Indiana, Colorado, and Arizona to the list.

4. So far, I have: Me- New York
DarkMeasures- Illinois
Dr.Seeker- Hawaii
Cloudboy- Massachusetts/ New England (?)
Nemo Rocks 78- California
I still need 11 more people, unless someone wants to double up on states. I'll post New York (with revolutionary concepts!!) later today or tomorrow.

Give me DC and the mid west. I figured since it was origianlly my idea anyway I should be involved. I think darkmeasures can post his stuff and i'll post my mid west stuff and we can put it together because illinois should not have it's own area. And I have a illinois idea if you interested DM. Basically it would be a dark ride through old chicago in antique cars and have gangsters n stuff, don't know what else, work in progress. Question though. Where will the park go. If it's far enough from the other parks we can do test track, mission space ect.

Ah, I see I got myself involved in another imagineering project!

Couple of questions - This is around a lagoon - does that mean that there is a walkway between the pavillion and the water, or can the pavillion be on the water side (anotherwords, is there going to be a show like illuminations)? Any limits/requirements to size, and I guess the location does have some matter - namely what kind of climate and what kind of landscaping.

Oh, and just one entrance on the front, or connecting to the side pavillions.

OK, update:

NemoRocks78 now has Texas
martinthesparta has Midwest (sharing with DarkMeasures) and DC
The park will be set up like WS @ EPCOT, and the proposed location is Northern Virginia (HA I would like that, but this is for dreaming purposes), which has summers like FL and cold winters with more ice and sleet than snow, with big snow every six years ('96, '02', '08 etc.)
I will take Washington state
we still need Indiana (maybe w/Midwest), Colorado, Arizona, Florida, Pennsylvania, Alaska, and Michigan(again, maybe w/Midwest)
And Now (drumroll)

NEW YORK!!!

Attractions: Soarin' Over New York
Empire
Streets of Gold
Runaway Subway (N?)
We the People

Stores: Virgin Megastore
World of Disney
Macy*s
Barnes & Noble
Manhattan Diamonds
I (heart) NYC!
AMC Movie Palace 24 (sort of an attraction)
Once Upon A Toy

Restaurants: Hibachi Steakhouse
Giulianni's
Wolfgang Puck Cafe
Brooklyn Grill
Piano Man Spirits
Earl of Sandwich

I'll post more stuff (and ride descriptions) later.

May I make a few suggestions?

Stores: Virgin Megastore, World of Disney, Macy's, Barnes and Noble, and an AMC movie theater shouldn't be inside a theme park. Keep the New York store, Manhattan Diamonds, and Once Upon A Toy.

Restaurants: Again, you seem to have many restaurants for one land. I would suggest taking out the Wolfgang Puck Cafe, Hibachi Steakhouse, and Piano Man Spirits.

Also, it seems that New York City has been the main focus of your land. How about including other attractions dealing with the rest of New York? Also, I don't think Soarin' should be placed in New York. Have it be "Soarin' Over America" and place it in hub land of the park.

Cobleskill Crafts

RESTAURANTS
