The NBA experience failed mostly because of the impact Covid had on its getting a start. Just as it opened it was shut down and never found its footing in DS. It could have made it had it been given a chance.

That and most people don't care about the NBA.

I looked up a local pro football team for last year and 16 home games they had 1,088,000 people.

Well let’s put this in perspective. Seating at a basketball site holds much less seating than a football stadium due to the length of field vs court. You have less ability to sell seating with a smaller venue. Doesn’t mean the fan base is smaller only capacity to sell tickets is less.
There’s a lot of fans you are not considering due to your bias.

NBA City Barely worked as a restaurant. Charging people the same admission that many can pay to get into a theme park for another day is not going to win a family outing to see a specific sport Memorabilia in the heart of the most visited entertainment theme park destination in the world.

I think Disney should rent it to another company. I dont think Disney wants to be in charge of another entity especially one that could be risky in that spot. I think the WWE should make it their hall of fame. As much as people might laugh at the idea, they have had a virtual hall of fame for decades, and they have warehouses of props and costumes. A new high end museum with lots of cutting edge virtual stuff such as calling a match, being in the ring, and tons of photo opps would be a great way to bring people in And wrestling fans are probably more fervent fans than any sport surprisingly. They could even have a ring with matches on special occasions.
